  1. You got me. I gave historical accuracy zero consideration when was scribbling on the bus. I just chose those ones because they would bring very cool mythological beasts to the party so it would sell, and European kids would have some familiarity from museums. Yeah I hope you are right on that actually. PoP was good because there was no ethnic angle. I hated all the propaganda of 300. The topic is what I would like, not what I think has any chance of happening However, that does spark a wonderful idea. Combining what would make GoT cool with classical themes: a multi-wave Clash of The Ancients. Totally inaccurate, we have Mixtecs vs Celts vs Warring States China vs Greece vs Egypt vs Persia vs Moghul Empire. A new empire comes in with each wave. Each Empire gets unique mythology or sigfig moulds. War elephants, battle chariots and army builders for the table top crowd, one decent castle for each Empire. I guess this is a bit like what therealindianajones has been building up.
  2. Very nice WhiteFang, I like the colour scheme and the ultra-light look very much. Your presentation is excellent as always. I am not familiar with the set you used, but my recommendation would be if anything to trim back even further on the parts. The section behind the cockpit looks a little heavy and I am not sure about the repetition of the large ball joint at the back. If you have the parts to turn those black round 1x1 and curves under the cockpit to lime, it would pop like crazy! Great MOC
  3. Love that tree trunk! And excellent cannon fire. So much life and action in this scene, I really like it.
  4. Mooncakes in the Mountains of Mitgardia Robuko/Kaliphlin Gallery in Ruadh Robuko/Kaliphlin
  5. Eye think this is a rather wonderful eyedea. And Lord Simon might be a little bit bonkers!
  6. Thanks Gunman. It's good to have some happy builds! Thanks Gideon. Mitgardia seems mainly granite, these are some limestone formations. As you know, the North countries are beautiful and green in summer. Thanks IEL. I have to share background credit with my 4 year old son. Although he wanted it to be lilac... Thanks vitroleum. I think the dark green on the distant hills came out too dark against the black, and it's very hard to see the dark blue and trans dark blue, I'm having a lot of trouble with lighting at the moment. Me too mccoyed but I fear they are going out of the getting pan and into the fire/ Thanks RedViper. The backdrop was the first thing we thought of, our mid autumn moon really did look like that here. Thanks Thomas. No this is a huge stylistic break for me, it's got some grey in it. although yes I do try to build one MOC a year celebrating our local festivals. I made dragon boat races and a lion dance before. Thanks ME. The displacement of the were crocodiles, reptrians, shoggoths and undead have disturbed the pandas from their mountain lairs. Great idea Hammerhand, I'll give it a go! Thanks for your kind words Scaevola. It's a very simple attempt and I'm a bit disappointed with the far off peaks, but I'm glad you like it. Thanks Behemoth. We have gone from zero to 3 panda moulds this year so I guess it's natural to see builders experiment. And I wanted it to feel Chinese as it's the Chinese moon cake festival. Thanks deg, yes the good Dr has it right. Series 6 panda, which comes with a notable tan 4l bar, parts fans. Ha ha thanks Jorrith. Yeah, I thought the pandas were established as a Nocturnus tribe by prior builds, could be wrong on that. Thanks Kayne, glad you like it. Cue hyper hyper active children who all just had 2000 calories in one meal! From the unnaturally bright foreground I would say just above and behind the viewer Thanks Lord Duvors. My learned friend the master cartographer is correct, this was established in book 1. All these Nocturnus folk can only mean one thing.... Total all out civil war!
  7. Superb idea, not really a brand fit though. The idea of multiple factions is really appealing because it would keep the theme fresh for several years with stags, wolves, horsemen, dragons and so on coming in to the mix. I guess I would want new mini figs or new parts. For figs I would favor the classical world- really from any culture eg celtic, Aztec, 3 Kingdoms, Roman. Assyria vs Sparta would be lovely with mythical beasts on both sides. For new parts I would prefer decorated ornamentation from India, Persia, China/Japan or Gothic, Romanesque or baroque Europe.
  8. ^That would not be a civil war though. I guess one side will be the Drow-hunting Mitgardian dwarves. The other side. .. The Jarl's men? The Drow? Cooler dwarf heads? The Spire? The Varlyrian fleet? It could be any of them, it's a really good set up premise so far.
  9. It seems to me that lots of thought went into this and that the resulting structure works very well for those forums. I am sure the same degree of thoughtfulness will be applied with all major new themes. Thank you.
  10. That is a huge number of parts! A very effective and quite subtle build. This is the sort of thing I am terrible at and hate building, but you have totally mastered it at the first go. I feel like all that amazing Rock and path effort should have something grander as its Apex, it's very restrained of you and generous to the source material to keep it so plain. Great build.
  11. I think the sub forum allocation of themes is really good, and the mods have done a great job in that regard. Maybe there is room to move some of the less active closed licences like PoP to history, Speed Racer to action, as I think this would actually get more people building in those themes. But I'm happy to leave it to the mods.
  12. Cyclops library, witches on vacuum cleaners. Love it!
  13. ^now that would be an amazing premise for a real civil war! Not going to happen though
  14. Wonderful sand scape! Wishing you a profitable journey! To my eye the loading arrangements seem a little too regular, maybe. I think it's because real camels don't have square sides.
  15. Really liking the tree! And that scribble face is exactly what happened to me on Saturday night! Great scene.
  16. A family of Panda refugees from Nocturnus take time to celebrate the beauty of the mid Autumn moon. They may have lost their homes and possessions in the conflict, but they still have each other. (Apologies for the image quality, no PC access. Good news is, my bricks are unpacked now)
  17. Great story! The axe is very nicely built. The construction of the building is rather simple and plain.
  18. Congratulations Doctor Kai! NM, I don't really have any view on the changes. I did approve one credit for a build that was posted outside GoH in the pirate forum, as I thought it was a legit claim. I can see the argument for allowing any build in history or pirate forums to claim credit as most of the MOCs could be repurposed as GoH easily. And I can see the argument against it too. Usually I zip it if I don't have a view but I might have set that rule change in motion so I just wanted to register my lack of view on it this time.
  19. Highly distinctive and inventive. Lovely build and lovely presentation. Tundraturds
  20. Could you please let me know which PGTC units fought and survived? They might get home coming scenes one day.
  21. Great build LV. Very bold of you to go for this much black, I think it has paid off. I really like all the details you put in like the execution and the blood fountain. The presentation is excellent.
  22. Very nice BrickCurve! The wanderer has a nice home base. I especially like the vegetation, which gets a +1 from me. Some things to think about: those lower floor windows are very easy to enter for a bad guy army, if that fails they could swarm up the ivy, so there might need to be some back story that the walls are no longer defensive because of the glorious peaceful nature of the island or whatnot. Also the color blocking on the walls is nicely varied as you intended, but generally real buildings use color variation either as quite geometric decoration, or in patched up walls from different time periods. You might like to experiment with different color patterns on this round wall technique. I realise the cylinders are limiting your color usage. Have a think about how you could put some nice little scenes in the back ofthe towers. Great build.
  23. I've done it twice. I keep the bulk of my sets broken down in zip lock bags and transported them in boxes. The high value stuff like SDCC figs comes hand luggage, but honestly you need to take your financial and other important documents hand luggage so there isn't much space for Lego.
  24. Really nice build Wedge, I agree this is your best to date. Very nice clean finish and a high quality all round with lovely detailing especially the interior. I can't quite understand how the rocks extend into the interior, or not. Maybe the lower floor is carved out of the rock? I don't agree with kabel on grey wall syndrome in this case, many real buildings do have blank walls, but it is something to be aware of in a larger build. Very nice work.
