Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
Kumbbl replied to Sheepo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Fantastic news... @Sheepo: at your website you write the following regarding this instructions: "Build this car is very hard, if you have never built a Lego Technic set, I recommend you to do it first. Doing that is not necessary but it will help you later when you built the Land-Rover <...> Also you must think that the pieces are not perfect, so the gearbox are not 100% reliable, it should make good around the 90% of the speed changes" I'm now refering to the bold marked parts: is this copied from the Land Rover description and is therefore the warning about the reliability of the seq. gearbox here? Or with other words: is this also true for the Shelby gearbox or is this just a copy&paste-error? ;) Thanks a lot for your efforts and this awesome car and instructions!- 195 replies

Your Best Technic Bargains
Kumbbl replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
indeed - the Enzo 8653 is slightly cheaper... you should be able to catch one for about 50 - 60€ (in germany ;-) and cause of the nice door opening mechanism of the Enzo i always prefered "him", but i had to admit the 8145 is even prettier -
Your Best Technic Bargains

yesterday: 2x 9397 truck, both with box and BI in near MINT condition and complete parts: together for 110€ - great, one for the cute B-model, one for parts for MOCs... a week ago: 2x 8854, both complete and with BI, one with box in near MISB condition(!) - together for 40€ - now both models are buildable - both belong to my favorite midrange/small models... two weeks ago: 2x universal set 8082, both complete and with BI but without box, but together for just 41€ - just the electrical parts cost more than twice - at least... -
me too (bugging): what is so appealing with a new frontloader????? there was recently already the very good 8265, powered with a motor it look good, is fun to build and play... IMO just adding an even bigger and RC Loader is quite boring... IMHO TLG is quite unimaginative and uninspired with the latest models, at least full year 2013 and also 1h 2014 (the airplane is nothing more than the 9396 in the shape of a plane instead of a heli - more or less the same mechanisms).. and now as flagship of 2H a frontloader.................... <yawn> always the same stuff: tow trucks, loaders, mobile cranes and so on... what about new universal sets, what about technic creatures (like the famous T-rex), what about mechanical robots, what about a new supercar which earns the name "supercar" (8070 wasn't a supercar) with really new parts which bring the technic theme forward (rims for suspension, better gearbox-parts etc.), what about a transformer, what about a sophisticated garbage Truck, what about a really pneumatic-flagship, what about the return of the flex-system, what about anything else instead always the same construction stuff, racers, crawlers? well, maybe i'm the only one who is bored ... than it's ok because TLG should give the market what the market wants.... apparently the market wants construction equipment

Lundgren's Creations
Kumbbl replied to Lundgren's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
cute... if you are interested in some MODs , e.g. moveable seats, for this epic set (8880), then take a look here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=79397 And here you can found additional MODS for 1) a selector between AWD and RWD and 2) a two mode AWS (all wheel steering): http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=80878&hl=8880 Both features are operated from the console between the seats... -
agreed with all... but 8069 is very clever and well designed - good building experience and also well done look... but playability is indeed lousy (yes, manually operated LAs are a no go) - IMHO all sets containing LAs need essentially a motor, so e.g. 9396, 8265 - both of them can be motorized very well but the 8069 backhoe can't be motorized without completely making it an ugly model

Technic Idea Books
Kumbbl replied to CP5670's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
BUMP Just discovered the pneumatic robo and the CC I 8094 Robo-Showcase in the book 8891 - seems wonderful models to me... Anybody out there who has a part list for these models, s.b.? Otherwise i assume for the later one the CC I should be more or less enough (plus an extra motor e.g. from 8082) and also for the former one (plus the pneumatics from 8868 or 8862) Thanks in advance! -

Kumbbl replied to Legofan225's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Couldn't agree more... the best was IMHO the 8082 (i forgot it in my list above) followed by the 8090 - but the 8094, 8485 and also 8479 were IMO universal sets... these universal sets ... nothing stimulates creativity of children more than a universal set... BTW: same lack in lego systems world - well, there are these 3in1 creator sets but much much better were sets like the 49(!)in1 roboter set 4099 or the creatures 8in1 set 4894 or the prehistoric animals 8in1 set 4892: my son plays with them for hours and often he builds awesome own models with these parts assortment (for all here who have children with age 4 to 6: i can really recommend these mentioned out of production sets!) - well slightly OT here but what i want to say: universal sets are great not only in the technic theme...  many models of 8888 are still marvels... astonishing what was possible with such limited parts as during this time period... the blue cute excavator and the programmable crane were ansd are my favorites - could be listed in my list of studded favorite models above... build the programmable crane during christmas with my son... very cool and inovative... a new book with ideas for studless buildings would be very appreciated... of course... and what history of technic teaches us: this will never stop... -

Favorite Lego Technic sets ?
Kumbbl replied to Legofan225's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Here are my favorite studded sets - in the following sequence: *8868: Best set ever (studless counted too), under all criterias, period. *8880: The alpha and the omega of supercars, period. *8479: So much fun - 3 out of 4 models are pure ingenious, fun to build, fun to play. *8485: very unique. very interesting builds - best usage of the flex system - just build the T-Rex with my son - simply awesome model, even today. *8480: very unique and first usage of a gearbox as functions selector - Top B-Model. 8862: see postings above 8459: IMHO best front loader *8431: IMHO best mobile crane, at least related to the parts count - the only one with driven turntable 8856: Best Heli - despite the also very good 9396 - very clever and interesting build 8094: Almost as good as the 8485 8854: a bunch of functions in a small package - Good B-model *8848: see postings above - ingenius front bucket linkage and very cute design 8082: Again a Good universal set with some very nifty mechanisms with micromotor...the bobcat is awesome 8858: best suspension, cuteness and cute B-Model 8846: best small set ever - full of functions *856: Awesome and ingenious linkage for bucket movement *851: simply a cute tractor, for the time being very well designed and recognizeable as Ferguson All of them are IMHO must haves - at least from a collectors perspective but actually also concerning other criterias... * set with a * belongs also to my favorites when studless sets are included Remark: No, i'm not a only studded fan, i like studless sets too ;-) -

Nice, were my child favorites too .... still all on display here... ;-) BTW: the Unimog 8848 is still one of my favorites among the small/midsized sets... -
[REVIEW] 8862 - Backhoe Grader
Kumbbl replied to ABslego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, the epic pneumatic marvel 8455 is unbeatable (one of the best sets ever, quite genius) - nevertheless this 8862 is a wonderful set - one of the best from the studded area... a very symetric and elegant building technic... and on top one big advantage to the 8455: Whereas the B-model of the 8455 is quite boring (once built and immediately dismantled) the B-model of 8862 is a very good harvester (with plenty of room for MODs) , quite worth a set of its own... So, agree: 8862 =- 10 replies

Kumbbl replied to Legofan225's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My Top 14: all of the following are probably unbeatable (at least for me ;-): 8880 8868 8455 8043 8258 8479 8480 8862 and for smaller ones: 8846 8848 856 851 4090 (yes, you read right, thats technic - the main model, this "flying bird" is absolutely amazing) 8002 (yes, you read right again, that's technic too - the rubberband-driven unfolding mechanism of the Star wars Droid is pure magic - kudos to the designer) Remark: The Unimog 8110 could be in this list but for me it has too many serious drawbacks - in a modded version i would rank it as one of the top models ever    -
[C-MODEL] 8110 Jeep
Kumbbl replied to MrTekneex's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
absolutely awesome and admirable - because IMHO building with a limited part repository is the champions league...even more if the result is such a such a perfect model... -
No wonder, Natanael Kuipers is IMHO one of the best Lego designers worldwide. You should at least buy his instructions of his concept Car and of course not only buy but also build ;-) ... One of the best building experiences i ever had... And i have build a lot... ;-) There is also a thread about this Concept Car here at EB... just use the search function here the link to the official website: http://www.nkubate.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=30:concept-car&Itemid=566 Another great recommendation of a Kuipers model: A supercar build only from two sets: 8458 + 8466...

Worst Technic Sets of all Time
Kumbbl replied to Rishab N's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
you are right - but that model can be very good if you apply some very very small MODs - see here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=83136&hl= Then it works like a charm... -

Kumbbl replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
do you still have this CAD-file of the large programmable crane? If yes, may i ask you if you could extract a part list from it? This model is simply awesome and i would like to build it - i have the book 8888 but i would be convenient if i could check which parts i need to bricklink... thanks a lot in advance!
