Its a cool MOC no question. But it has Not a Technic line finish which i like more. But this is probably personal taste. Anyway: of you modify the steering using M Motor + 2 mini LAs instead of the servo the 42030 becomes a very well performing model Efferman has offered this fix Even with stepped BI
-
Yeah, i would confirm the steering issue...but simple ti fix for at least reasonable performance About MODs: no need ti Google. Just search this forum- there is a 80 pages thread just for Unimog MODs The very bad bump steering is IMHO the biggest pitfall of the Unimog. And this is only fixable by a complete redesign of the whole front axle
-
Unimog vs Arocs: Unimog has more realistic and better looks (IMO) And the unmog itself is much more modd-able than the Arocs cause of the plenty of room inside Cincerning MODs i doubt the Unimog is beatable by any set And you can add all missing Features the Arocs has out of the Box (like openable doors or tiltable bed) by yourself But out of the Box the Arocs has more Features and also the better crane...
-
depends what you are seachring for: Heavily modding for yourself: Unimog - unbeatable - there are also myriads of attachtments out there Build a lot of different models from one set: 42009 - probabaly the best parts assortment - there are already several c-models out there - some even with pdf-instructions - there are also BI for building an ultimate full RC version of it - BI and model made by Juergen (and for free charge!). Both A- and B-model out of the box are great. best playability and most PF: 42030 - but quite boring build and almost not modable most recent set, most functions/features and probably the most interesting build: 42043 - also very good parts assortment. Best sets for itself and out of the box: 42043 and 42009 (IMO)

[HELP] 9396 - Rotor Friction
Kumbbl replied to JGW3000's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
mine are spinning very well with very low friction - you must have made failures during the build - ensure all gears and axles are spinning without friction during all building steps..- 7 replies

Hi, Just seen this really incredible D model of 42009: Have i overseen the Thread of this MOC? Of yes please apologize and please delete my thread. One of the best c model i have seen. Incredible lowering of the upper deck and perfect looks. Would be a great MOC if build from any parts. But as a c model: just outstanding IMHO MrTekneex, are you planning BI? Would paying any amount of € ;-)

Best Mid-Sized Technic Models
Kumbbl replied to Superfield's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
8455 is outstanding. One of the best models ever Also very good: 8862, 8425, 8431 Just from the part count you could call today 8868 a mid size model: and it is one of the best models ever released by TLG. Each Lego lover should have built at least 8455 and 8868 ! -
If i could build only one model for the rest of my life this one would be one of the hottest candidates... Just WOW! A stepped cad file would be very appreciated, thanks a lot in advance!
-
Cacg88, you did a great job, kudos to you. Outstanding MOD because you preserved the look and design of the Original Model ... May i ask you for instructions? At least for front suspension/steering? I know this is a lot of effort but it would ne great... But of course just a plea... Again: Great work!

it is really hard to make a sequence because there are some really very very good entries . But for me Moby Brick and the Sandstormer are still outstanding even among the best entries - but who is the winner and who "just" the second best? this was quite impossible for me to decide... at the end i choose Moby brick because it is so cute and original. But congrats to all entries! 14: 10 16: 6 10: 4 11: 3 13: 2 18: 1

In General i would say that no official Lego Model is a Building Challange because the BI are too good and clear. At least for an experienced AFOL... Only exception: 8868 cause of its tricky hoses routing. MOC with available Stepped PDF-BI: for sure Andrea grazis Tow Truck is a real challange Building just from a lxf file can often be a big challange

77€ for 6 of these wheels (rim+tyre) is quite a bargain!

Probably buying 12 third party tyres would be as expensive as using the original ones.... ;-) My recommendation would be the same as blakbird did: buy 2 used sets of 5571 ( you will Need a lot of unique parts of this set, for not few parts you will need more than 1 5571 contains), use the 12 rims and tyres and all parts you need and sell the remaining parts... Probably the best deal you can make....

shock absorbers: - front axle: 2909c01, the absorbers of the 8466 (the completely yellow ones) - the unimog aborbers would be too stiff i assume - rear axles: 731c01, the hard yellow ones, e.g. from 8070

Me too. Own 2 of them... In Addition about 40 red #3 connectors, 12 power puller wheels, some rare red flex axle length... 10 pneumatic cylinder brackets (but probably these will get cheaper cause of the new longer cylinders coming this summer) Ah, what i forgot: 2 complete 5571 Black cat sets and so all included rare parts e.g. 12 of these Ultra rare expensive wheels+rims...

[REVIEW] 2H 2015 Video Reviews
Kumbbl replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This gearbox is not really new... well, it's new in an official set (apart from the submarine B-model of 8480 - which is btw. one of the best b-models), but not new overall, because there is a really oustanding excavator MOC which introduces exactly such a gearbox type: http://rebrickable.com/mocs/yannmar/motorized-hydraulic-excavator Here is my comment for this MOC (i have build it and its worth it): http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=90485&st=50#entry1872101 - just jump to the beginning of the thread to see the MOC description... If the 42042 is similar to this MOC-gearbox then it's not a complex one but an simple but nevertheless ingenious and nifty one - but the "copyright" has not TLG but this MOCer linked above...
