Replacing the rearmost middle panel by a 1 L shorter fake panel built from beams is very legal ;-) and works perfect. Still looks good

[MOC] ICARUS Supercar
Kumbbl replied to Madoca 1977's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Agreed. With one addition: These two plus N. Kuipers Predator. The latter one is easily on par concerning innovation, paneling , features. IMHO a must build for technic and car lovers.- 220 replies

This is very cool. Maybe i have to buy the 42042 ... MrTekneex is one of the most talented c-model builder out there. Each Model of him is a pleasure to build and most of them are at least on par with the main a-model of the set

about instructions for this masterpiece: Cause of the high part- and PF-count the model would be quite expensive, so for sure it would not be rebuild by thousands of AFOLs ;-) But the model is so great and outstanding that it would deserve BI and some rebuilds. I can only say: Every BI-guru who would participate on the BI-making would deserve a fair return of (effort-)invest. So, if you (whoever) plan making BI: sell it for a sensefull and appropriate price-tag - and IMHO this could be easily higher than the common 10 to 15€....because if anyone spends hundreds and hundreds of euros/dollars for the needed parts then the costs for the BI will make no difference... just my 2 ct....

if you add to the 8070 a 9398 and a 8653 (the wheel covers of this old ferrari look also very good) then the job is mostly done - then the remaining missing parts (~ 300) are quite cheap and easy to get... a used 8070 in good condition costs here in germany about 60 to 70€, not really unfair...same for 8653, the latter one maybe slightly more... so overall this awesome model needs no bank robery... ;-)

42056 - Porsche Speculation
Kumbbl replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What a .... From Ppung Daddy... Not worth 1 sec watching... Pure time wasting... Why? 1. price is not commited by TLG 2. if the rumored 3000 parts are true, also such a high price tag would be justified 3. take into account the price tag of the (IMHO) boring 41999... And this model had no licence from Porsche! Anyway: at current state we just know that we know quite nothing - apart from a quite beautiful design and some unconfirmed rumors... -
8839 Supply Ship Studless
Kumbbl replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
hihi, yes it would - but: there is no place - there is the link 16 L hinged which steers the wheels i the rear..... this would need a bigger redesign... Of course there are better and cleaner solutions possible to make steering direction right but not applyable to the finished model - if i would go back to the beginning of the build it would be easier, no question ;-) -

Kumbbl replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
well, because IMHO opposite steering direction is a serious bug i have fixed it - looks not bad i would say... it could even look better if you add the direction change gears 5 holes below (between the black parts of the cabin) but i didn't want to dismantle the whole cabin - and my solution can be applied quite easy without taking apart too much... Now the ship model is perfect -

couldn't say it better... the studless 8848 is also very nice -

Kumbbl replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, i am interested ;-) which model won? Congrats to silver medal! BTW: could it be that the steering of the ship works in wrong direction? Ie when HOG turns left the ship turns right and vice versa? Or have i build something wrong? -

Kumbbl replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
well, 8865 and 8848 are also very cute and really well done - together with the 851 tractor and your two models.... as promised here comes the old and its twin brother in studless (sry for bad pics, shot with iPhone with bad light): very good build, M_longer! Your drivetrain for the propellers works way smoother than the somehow modiocre designed of the old model - nevertheless the old ships was one of the better mid-size technic models and ennobels the shelf of each technic lover BTW: for slewing i had to slightly modify your model because i have overseen that you have used the new 60th turntable and not the old one... i didn't want to sacrify the Arocs so i used an old turntable - but this can't be driven by a bevel gear - so i have choosen a black 24th gear which drives the turntable as a thumb-wheel... works well too and looks also good. -
For this heavy crane the XL for drive is definitely better! But the carpet issue will still remain. Reasons have already been explained..

And not to forget, there are some awesome C-models die 42009 out there. At least two of them Are way better than official b-model: Car transporter by MrTekneex Crane truck by Designer Han Flat bed transporter by MrTekneex For all three there are detailled Lego like instructions available ... All three are very recommenable builds and at least the two former ones could easily be the A-model of stet 42009! And the flat bed is at least on par with the official b-model... Then there is a very cool forklift as another C-model out there also with instructions. But i haven't build it If you take the ultimate into the list (which is BTW a very very ibteresting build and very recommandable though quite expensive) then you can build 7 different and awesome Models from 42009... Concerning this: best set ever!

8839 Supply Ship Studless
Kumbbl replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
very very well done - yes - but as said above - not as cute as the original...at least IMHO, so the tractor is very well made but IMHO not at par with the original... whereas your ship reincarnation is even (slightly) superior than the original... -

Kumbbl replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah - would have been a good contest theme here at EB too... ;-) For example 8846(!), 8848 or 851 in modern studless would be great - but especially for the latter one i doubt anyone can build this beauty more cute than the original... still (IMHO) best looking tractor....simply build with some bricks and (few) axles and (few) gears... -
8839 Supply Ship Studless
Kumbbl replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, very cute and a modern twin brother of good old 8839. the latter one is already on my shelf and your incarnation will be in near future. I have already ordered some few missing parts BTW: thank you for free BI, very nice! But: in the part list onto last 3 pages all white parts are missing! -
Saw your vid and sounds interesting. One question though: are these files suitable stepped ? What do i mean with that? If i press BI mode in LDD then stepped BI will be displayed. But often such a generated step sequnece is complete nonsense and quite unusable.

you can do it via rebrickable: 1. Export part-list of truck into brickstore / rebrickable-format (you can do it from the rebrickable page of the truck) 2. same for the trailer - but use a different-file name! 3. create a private MOC in rebrickable 4. append(!) both export-files to this private MOC 5. done Now you can either export again one part-list (will cntain all parts for truck and trailer together) or use the "build this MOC" Button in rebrickable to find the parts you have/miss
