Some very interesting techniques in the propulsion of the monorail

Great little engine, perhaps a stupid question but did you also fit a IR-receiver in it?
-
The model looks great, even though I don't like the look of the prototype. I especially like your solution for the tender bogies

SBrick makes your trains smarter - Kickstarter
UrbanErwin replied to pasztorl's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I think it will have some great potential, especially with 9V tracks, I have pledged for one receiver to test look if I can power track and switches with it. @ Pasztorl: I was wondering if it is possible to power a Sbrick through a Pf Extension/Conversion wire and a 9V traincontroller. -
Brickworld Chicago 2014 Penn/TeX Layout
UrbanErwin replied to SavaTheAggie's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I had seen the pictures and I love the setup. The first time I saw the plans of a joint layout I was quite sure it would be awesome but it turned out even better. -
Thank you! I made some small improvements, the footplate is extended with 1 stud and the transmission is changed. When I have some spare money, I will shorten the boiler with 2 studs. USRA 0-8-0 V2 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr PS. I was thinking of making a LDD file for it, would there be interest in it?

Thanks for the feedback, I will post updated pictures soon. Thank you Thanks, a youtube video is good idea

... or at least that was what it was supposed to look like [EDIT] V2 with LDD file [/EDIT] Hello all, This is my latest steam engine, based on a USRA 0-8-0. USRA 0-8-0 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr It features BBB Medium drivers. The thing is powered by a M-motor, and receives current through a emptied 9V train motor (don't worry, it broke before I took it apart) It features some pressure gauges. USRA 0-8-0 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr I originally intended to add a decoupler based on this design, but the tender would become too long to look good with the engine itself. The light gray area is for a logo which I still have to create and print. USRA 0-8-0 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr More pictures Thanks for looking, improvement points are appreciated

I have a question about motors
UrbanErwin replied to TheLazyChicken's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The thing you posted a picture of is a rotation sensor for an RCX I would suggest buying a PF motor. -
Who have you banned from looking at/touching/playing with your LEGO
UrbanErwin replied to legoman19892's topic in Community
I haven't banned anyone. My brother couldn't care less about my Lego and my parents are always afraid to break stuff when they touch something so they ask advice on how to pick something up.- 64 replies

I really like this design. I like the trick you used to attach the front light to the boiler.

MOCs: Models of trains running in Hungary
UrbanErwin replied to Ashi Valkoinen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I missed these, they look great. -
It looks like a pretty sweet engine, I didn't know there existed engines like this.

Improved smooth curves by AshiValkoinen
UrbanErwin replied to Ashi Valkoinen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
@ Haddock51: I don't think the main purpose of the smooth curves is the speed, but realism. If I'm correct Ashi Valkoinen builds his trains at 8-wide which means these curves are much closer to a real curve. Edit: To make my point more clear: here is a sample (not mine) IMG_7695 by Cale Leiphart, on Flickr This train would look ridiculous on regular curves. -
LEGO shouldn't make new parts for a year?
UrbanErwin replied to legolijntje's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In a personal believe, I don't think new parts are necessary every year, but this is mainly I am discovering (for me) new pieces almost every day. (This problem might solve itself when I will buy more new sets. ) This doesn't mean I am against new parts every year though. -
Some are explained here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=33335

Pretty cool, how did you make the walls at the inside white, if I may ask? -
Thanks
