This indeed the correct reason, we (this is part of a group layout so I am not the only builder) did decide that this was a height that gives opportunities in details without going way too high in brick counts Thank you Here in the Netherlands the ideal colour for older tracks would be dark brown and light grey for newer concrete ties. Sadly there are no dark brown 1X1 tiles available , and black just doesn't look right. [image link] Thank you both

Thanks, it still misses a plowing tractor. I have seen the log bricks being used this way in some kind of castle moc the first time. Thank you

It is a very detailed engine with some great container wagons. Looking at your cars and planes, I can´t wait for what´s next.

Murdoch17's Miscellaneous Railroad Builds

Sad to hear about your computer. Those designs are definitely inspiring for my own layout. -
It is a very nice looking layout, keep up the good work.

The reduced gap is certainly an improvement on a already great looking engine

It looks very smooth, keep up the good work.

Thank you, I forgot to respond, yes there will be signals. Thank you

I have found a Bricklink seller which is a 5 minute bike ride from my home, this is ideal because he gives me discount for picking up the order there and on weekends it is possible to have the parts in just hours from ordering. So I do really recommend finding a store which is really close to a location come very often, work/school or home. http://www.bricklink.com/browse.asp Then click on your home country and the region.

Hello all, I have been thinking about making this a while back, but didn't have any WIP builds. The idea is a general WIP topic for posting WIP shots of unfinished creations. If you post something here please include (if posssible): - A picture (or more) - Links to prototypes and/or creations you base you creation on - Any other information other user should know when they help you I will start: I am currently working on an American diesel engine like this one but in 7 studs wide and a fictional colour scheme. American Diesel Engine WIP 1 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr American Diesel Engine WIP 1 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr legoman666's version is also a big inspiration source. As I don't have seen one of these in real life I have no idea if the scales are off, or that they are right. Things I still want to add: - A big ventilator thing on the back (how do you call those?) - Plows and couplers on the trucks - A better fuel tank I hope I have provided enough information. Erwin

Nice designs, I especially like the heavy loader (the dark gray with dark brown one)
-
[bUMP] I made instructions for the engine (not the tender) It are 3 separate files for the frame, boiler and cabin. I hope it is useful. PS. could a Mod add "with LDD file" to the title, thank you

Thank you Rail Co for curves I use this, and for switches I improvise a bit in combination of the curve technique.
-
Ah, but couldn't you just use this part instead?
-
Indeed a very cute and nice design, I like it
-
It probably sounds stupid but how many meters are 40" ? And like Dutchiedoughnut said, what is your goal with the layout?

They look pretty good, I like the combination of sand green en dark red on the version of Mapimi. @ Skystorm yours looks good too, especially the use of purple train windows is real cool.

UrbanErwin replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I like the bluebonnet very much, I am only wondering why you didn't change the roof on the wagons, it looks out of style with the engine. -
A little late, but thank you Update time: I have started working on another module: Small Module by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr Small Module by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr There are still some reddish brown 1X1 tiles missing and a fourth baseplate missing in the back.

That is a pretty massive wagon, I have one question, why are the brackets and technic connector underneath in a diffrent gray?
