  1. The tall part of the Parisian Restaurant is only 12 studs deep; it's easy to kit out a building heavily with a conservative part count if it's much tinier than it looks from the front. It was released four years ago now. Prices go up; it sucks, but it's something you have to accept if you want to keep buying LEGO products. The only modular buildings that have given me the "wow" factor are the Parisian Restaurant and Detective's Office. At the very start of this line, Cafe Corner and Market Street were practically derelict on the inside, and Green Grocer was hardly any better. In 2007 and 2008, those sets had a "wow" factor, but only because the very concept was novel, not because the sets were beautiful inside and out. It's easy to be cynical, but I think people – even those in the community who make high-quality modular buildings – have come to expect MOC-level products with going on 3000 pieces at a $150 price point. People are constantly underwhelmed by the modular buildings because TLG's efforts will never be able to stack up to the combination of aftermarket prices and distorted nostalgia. For me, as it seems to be for several other people in this thread, the Corner Garage is cute and possibly a starting point or inspiration for one's own creations. That's all it ever will be, and that is enough.
  2. Honestly I'm in love with it, everything about it is adorable.
  3. They're gorgeous! Thank you for showing us these MOCs.
  4. Have you considered dyeing the necessary pieces dark green for your physical model? I love the attention you're getting because it's so charming and of cultural interest.
  5. Perhaps a medium blue, which is already a standard colour for LEGO police? I feel like that would contrast with the dark blue and lighten the facade up a little.
  6. Nice work, henjansson! I love your Dracula brickhead, particularly the purple accents on his clothing and the tall collar around the neck.
  7. Mouseketeer, this is a great addition to the winter village concept. I've occasionally thought about what a functioning LEGO ski lift might look like, and yours is certainly effective. Might it be possible to mount the chairs on a hinge so that they hang straight down? Otherwise the chair coming downhill is at quite an awkward angle. The chalet is adorable and I appreciate the waterfall coming down the side of the mountain. Thanks for sharing!
  8. Congratulations on building such an extensive and detailed MOC, carebear! To echo Kristel, the top floor with the desks and offices is great, and your design for the floor is evocative; it reminds me immediately of the linoleum tiles on the floor in many municipal buildings where I live. Well done, too, for having the thought to include rear doors to the garage and the prison, and to liven up the back wall with creepers and windows. Thanks for sharing.
  9. As @RogerSmith pointed out, kids love to play pretend and make up stories. I did that when I was young, and sets featuring fire department, arctic exploration or other scenes provide the basics for a child to tell their own story. And, though I recall as a child (does this date me?) playing Harry Potter and Power Rangers in the playground, non-licensed themes inherently have a bit more wiggle room for creativity when telling stories.
  10. The Mos Eisley Cantina 75205 is still available for $40 at my local Target, MSRP $50. May still be available at other locations, too.
  11. Those walls are delightfully wonky; very nice job. Your cutaway to show the interior of the bank is effective, too. Good work.
  12. I didn't previously notice those Nexo Knight (is that right?) shields forming the cross in the transept. Nice choice of parts.
  13. Per Siegfried's post in the Forum Information subforum:
  14. It's beautiful - I love the softly curving bulbous nose and the stripe you integrated into it, as well as the transition from red to tan.
  15. My goodness it's adorable - the eyes are appropriately bulbous and shiny. Love it!
  16. Had noticed the spam but was quite baffled when I was asked for my favourite theme upon attempting to load the site. Glad you all are on top of it
  17. That's as may be, but given a blank slate could you plan design a baroque cathedral of more than ten thousand pieces? That's what counts.
  18. The first thing that struck me is that the grille is all wrong, but then I realised it's a rolling box... and the email I got from LEGO doesn't include the view of the rear, which is by far the most dreadful aspect. I know what I'm not buying this summer....
  19. It looks lovely, well done! The sand green reminds me vaguely of I Gesuiti in Venice, though of course the columns &c are much less marbled.
  20. Hello Schroedinger, and welcome to Eurobricks! Experimenting with things is always fun and it might even inspire you to build something form scratch later on. I hope you enjoy the discussion on all the boards here, and maybe share some of your builds! Thanks for joining our community.
  21. Greg, how did you build the greenhouses? I can't tell if they are a single specialized piece or a more intricate construction.
  22. Gosh, I love those ladders and staircases! Good luck as your project progresses.
  23. Hello carnegeddon, and welcome to Eurobricks! 2 metres is quite high for a train layout, isn't it? Unless of course part of your goal is to employ forced perspective with your scenery. Anyway, the folks over at the Town and Train Tech subforums (myself included, I love to lurk and see what happens there) love work in progress topics, so I recommend you share what you have built so far, even if it isn't very much.
  24. Hello Bennet - herzlich wilkommen bei EB! Way back in the day I used to be on the official LEGO forum for kids.... it has definitely been a while since I went there, though! Thanks for joining our community; I look forward to seeing your figures and builds as you share them on the forum. Do you ever build LOTR and Harry Potter things in addition to Star Wars? P.S.: A little self-promotion is always acceptable... I recommend you include a link to your Flickr profile in your signature, like I and many other users here do.
  25. Sorry (not sorry) I haven't seen the leaks, but this looks like a vanquish (plus front spoiler) And this looks like a DB5: I'm surprised they don't have their promotional materials sorted consistently.
