  1. This differential build looks like it is going well. It will be interesting to see how the reinforced differential will work out with both kinds of gearing bevel and knob. The knob gears when under high load tend squeak after a little while.
  2. That is an amazing LEGO room.
  3. Wow that is a great review of Akiyuki's ball factory. Looks like a straight forward build mostly. The synchronized function of everything working from one drive unit is outstanding. That must of took some time to get right. My favorite part about this GBC is the bucket wheel. Probably the main part of the build that it was build around next to the balls. Has anybody ever consider that the GBC is an adaptation of a perpetual motion machine.
  4. Wow, that performed and looks awesome, the video was great too. Nicely done! Do you think you have pushed the LEGO RC unit to its maximum potential when it comes to size and speed with this one.
  5. There is no video of it right now, I haven't made the magnet rotor yet.
  6. It can eat bricks like there is no tomorrow, I wonder if it can eat a EV3 Brick? Thanks Tariq j, The only thing I designed was the LEGO around the circuit board and components. The electrical part was actually made from a youtube how to video So I had some instructions. Well at least you guessed the first one
  7. Thanks GallardoLU, I have found out that there is one problem in how it can be use as a stud finder, metal detector and a proximity sensor. No matter what, when the button is pressed one of the LED lights will light up and that is not very useful for those purposes. Now to think about it I have used proximity sensors before on a Lego project I made awhile back.
  8. If the universe is constantly moving towards a state of thermodynamic equilibrium then that means the universe must enter in a state of rest but on the other hand the universe is said to always be expanding out and in order to expand you need to have a place that is full of energy otherwise if there is no energy then there is no motion. If the universe is in fact a closed system then we should treat universe like that, theories like worm holes, time travel, and the sort lead us to ideas to suggest that the universe is in fact not a closed system and allows for energy to go to one place to another with no solid path of travel. Consider this you have a bucket that is holding water (potential energy) I make a hole in the top of the bucket only water from the top of the bucket will escape (this turns the top portion of potential energy to kinetic energy) if the hole was at the bottom then all the water can escape (Which means all potential energy converted to kinetic energy). The Universe has no top and bottom so how the energy flows out these holes and where it goes means the universe is able to recycle itself to a new universe. Thus making the universe proof with in itself a contribution to the reality of Perpetual motion. Now for the most part your right, its a machine that can run for a billion years, but it can't go on for literally ever. Wow, that is amazing about silicon. I never knew that. Thanks for link to such amazing information. Scientific proof is all around for both assertions. It doesn't matter in the end about beliefs/feeling everybody is going to have there own and so be it, I dont need to convince anybody that is just going to created more problems. If you can heal a blind man sight only the blind man will see the outcome.
  9. Sorry dr_spock. I stop taking answers today when I created my Brickshelf folder of it. You were 33 minutes to late.
  10. No need to guess anymore. It is time to show you what is it I have made. I've finally completed it. It only took 2 modification to make this build work but overall the majority of the LEGO was not harmed in the build only the 1x1 round plate and the 1x1 round cylinder were required for modification. Other then that this build really was something special when it comes to building techniques involved to build this.
  11. It will always be controversial subject matter no matter how much you have been told and shown as to why perpetual motion should not work. In a common sense world perpetual motion is ridiculous but that is far as common sense goes. Nothing is perfect in this universe and looking for the exceptions that goes beyond common sense is what the sciences is all about. Take for example Water. Water is so unique from others liquids in that its solid form floats in it liquid state and for most solids that will never happen and its solid will do the opposite and sink. Water is one of the only exception that we can know that goes against developed common sense that we observe for other liquids because water expands when it freezes and other liquids don't. For perpetual motion to be understood you need to remove the word motion and replace it with technology. Solar panels are a sort of Perpetual Technology as long as the sun stays big and bright, Solar panels will always continue producing and that is one of the core functions of a perpetual tech. If the sun goes out and we are technological advance to move form solar system to solar system then we should be fine before everything goes dim here otherwise if not all is lost and that is it.
  12. Even thought this was supposed to be sort of a April 1st joke. The subject of perpetual motion is very controversial debate. I look at it like this, you will never disprove Perpetual Motion by not building it and what is in motion is also a subject of debate of its own right. Perpetual motion is the core of engineering whether you agree with it or not, the perpetual cycle of Trial and Error in making everything better will never end. I've read and studied the works of Edward Leedskalnin where he shares some of his views on perpetual motion and even provides instructions on how to build a perpetual motion machine. Here is a picture of a scale size one that is on the cover of one of his books seen here in the picture too. This is a real perpetual motion machine even though it don't look like it is moving what this machine is in fact doing is holding and doing that only needs a brief input of power nothing more. This could be describe as a electromagnet but the big difference is that when the battery power is remove the electromagnetic holding power is still there in the bar. Under conventional thoughts this electromagnet should stop being a magnet when electricity is removed. Thanks! It would be amazing if it worked perpetually but that not what I'm actually trying to achieve here. I'm making a electric Motor/Generator pretty much that is going to work off some AA batteries. That is the thing here. If a machine that can only power itself and nothing other will be nothing more then a novelty item to have. If anything is going to come of perpetual motion it is going have to go above 100% efficient in power generation over power consumed.
  13. JB LEGO Engine Mounts Here is my latest idea JB idea. Purist brace yourselves for this one because it probably the most purist you can get with JB weld and LEGO. JB LEGO engine mounts. There are some things to over come with spacing. The engine blocks here are not spaced out properly for the crankshaft to fit in between because this was a spur of the moment idea and It was designed from this part down below which wasn't intended to be a Engine mount in the first place.
  14. Yes, it is going to work. The design is based on how the dynamo work along with how novelty electric motors function with a dash of brushless DC basics. Thomas Edison DC motor is the keyhole to perpetual motion. Unlock that door behind lays a field that can go on forever and ever. I believe this is the Symbol ∞ that is inscribe on the door. I'm going have to decline your offer. Once completed this machine could be worth around the $500,000 mark at auction. The only problem is that the magnet and the vehicle are connected together. Remove this connection and you will have motion. This is where Magnetic Vortex technology is required which is the main proponent in perpetual motion machines.
  15. Perpetual Motion Machine Finally I reached a stage in building where it starting to take shape. I've been waiting over one year to post this. I still haven't completed it yet but it is almost finished. This Dynamo will be power by the counter EMF created by the magnetic rotor and in result of this it needs no battery to start since all the energy this machine needs resides in the Magnetic rotor. Imagine a ball on a side of a hill rolling down and never being able to reach the bottom and always being pulled down. That is what is at work here. Unlimited energy through motion and magnets. Now probably you have heard this before that perpetual motion machine can never work and the starting force needed to drive the magnetic rotor is always greater then the magnetic rotor can make. I can tell you this is half true, If you had a see saw and chop of one side of the see saw the same thing will happen, when the see saw is balanced then the starting force needed is barley any at all. And this is the problem that has plague most modern attempts at perpetual motion machines. Even Thomas Edison was plague by this problem with his perpetual motion machine the DC motor. If Thomas Edison solved this problem we would have a different paradigm of thought towards how AC/DC systems operate today and we wouldn't see them as two separate modes of electricity but rather as one with DC methods on TOP. Enough on that rant. That is it now. Have any question or doubts about if this will work, please feel free to share them.
  16. Wow that Speed Champions set looks awesome! You did a great job displaying it brickpreviews. I don't have much space at the table at the moment but I have enough base plates in my collection to layout a oval race track. I wish I had that set. That would go great with them. Is that by any chance still available to get. Nice, That is an awesome collection you have there. I love the little train you have on top of the parts cabinet.
  17. I cant wait to see the 1997 Technic line and see what 20 years of Technic had achieve. Is that when LEGO introduced Mindstorms to the Technic system. This was my First Technic set.
  18. Behold the Internet of the future. Where messages are now transmitted by mere thought and speling mistakes are a things of the past..
  19. I never use them but they sure have potential.
  20. I certainly can man, I already have 3/5 of the project competed. I'm going to get a poster board some time this week so I can take pictures of what I have got going now. Details as for the metal rod and the LEGO gear. The Metal Rod is measured in standard inches (not metric) 5/16 is it diameter. The closest measurement I can get (with out going over) to 8mm which is the size of the center hole for the bearings which is measured in metric. Now because the metal rod diameter is in inches this gives some free play for the metal rod to be inserted in the bearings. The way the lego gear is connected on the metal rod is done by clutch power through the 4 axle pins and centers the metal rod with the gear very well the only problem left to solve is the tilt of the gear. Once the gear is tilt is adjusted to mesh with the adjacent gears with out any rough/hard spots while its moving around then the finial thing left to do is JB weld the gear in place on the metal rod and now you have a metal rod that can fit with the LEGO system. I will make a new post and put some pictures up of this later. Currently the JB weld part is the step I haven't done yet. Jb weld can be used on almost anything. Here is a link as to what Jb-weld can be used on. I find myself using Jb to fix things made of plastic most of the time. I just recently fix a plastic caster wheel on a small roller cabinet while ago.
  21. It could be a metal detector, I'm not for sure how well it will work but I do know this. That certain kinds of metal it will respond to and other kinds of metals it probably will not. Something about the metal that determines how the sensor will work.
  22. No Jb-weld this time. Behold Clutch power like you never imagine.
  23. Not at all. Yes, you could call it that.
  24. That is a good guess Dr_spock, really good guess. To tell you the truth I don't know if that will work but there is a possibility that it can be a stud finder and I do plan to find out when it is completed. That was one of the devices in my mind when I said this quote below, but to think about it there might be some difficulty for this device in being a stud finder. The device is not really designed for that but It would be interesting to see if it can do that and more.
  25. Sure, It Is going to be for my magnets but who knows maybe one day I will make some wings and helicopter is here. I have several of those parts. Some of them are cracked. I believe that pearl style plastic makes them crack easy. Plus their half a stud thick.
