The building looks excellent! Nice work on the details. You matched the number of windows on the building, that is really good -

That is a cool idea! Works fantastic! -
This post is dedicated to the pros and cons of what I think of about the B model Race Car. Pros When it comes to building this set I find it very interactive. It not you typical LEGO put together build that I expected. There is a lot of hinge connections on this set where parts need to swing in place. Now when it comes to parts this set has a nice amount of 1x15 Technic beams and panel parts along with a V8 engine. This set is a good example of a what a Race car is in terms of size and weight, just look at the blue seat and overall that is good for adding Power Functions on it. Cons Some disappointing things I can think of at the moment about this set is that there is no suspension setup on this. Also the blue seat is a left fender panel part and now I want the right one at least this set could have had passenger seat. I know this has been said before by other but there are loads of stickers in this set that are specific for it and my stickers came bunched up squished at the bottom of the box along with the instruction. They came in ok shape but the box was a little small for the tires and some of the tire were squished a little by the box. Overall I give the 42041 race car B model a 8/10

Fake fake V12 engine
Boxerlego replied to jorgeopesi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice Work! That is neat small scale engine. This is essentially a Push rod engine. I've seen several Lego engines like that around in MOCs. I can show you one I've built but with out the moving parts.- 22 replies

Wow Grum, That is a nice Dentist you have. Important part in building is staying safe. LEGO certainly is not worth chipping a tooth over. I would still be careful using hemostats even if there rubber coated with your teeth. Take care of yourself. -
Yes this is supposed to be a LEGO discussion and sort of an April first joke as well, However I really am building what is in the picture despite the title I given it. What its really going to be is an electric motor of sorts. But right now I am finishing up another motor project that I been in the progress of building and I hope some of it will lend itself to this large LEGO motor that you see here. I still have the magnet rotor I need to make. I'm not quite sure on exactly how I should proceed with building it I got a couple of ideas floating around at the moment each with there own little problems.

Hi there, That is pretty huge LEGO model you have built, Nice job on making a big entrance with it and getting on the front page. I have one question, how many pieces did this take? -
Nice work. Welcome back. Both MOCs look great and both are very detailed. The double L motor drive train works good

Boxerlego replied to grum64's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for clarifying things, I can see what is going on now. You got to be careful pushing some Technic pieces together, just awhile ago with my new 42041 race car I was pushing a large axle through a bunch of axle connection with smaller axle I was putting good amount of force on it and the small axle slip and bounced off the table and it flew up and almost hit me in my left eye . If your getting cuts while putting together LEGO I would seek out other methods. Have you tried building some kind of simple LEGO tools to help you build certain objects. I see you have a hemostats is that something that helps you while building with LEGO. -
I modded the font end of the race car for the PF Servo motor. The idea with how the servo connects up with the model I wanted to do a hinge type connection like how the rest of the how the model is built. This way you can hold the wheels straight and even and lay the servo down with out much interference. Just push the servo down like its a brick and that is how you connect it up. Here is how the Servo looks. The black connectors need to be pushed down individually after the servo is connected. Just mount the servo like this.... and drop it in place.

Yea Grum64 your almost there. But he not able to build with his fingers that well. Unless I missed something I always was under the impression that Grum64 built LEGO with his mouth. Is that true Grum64 or are you using your hands to build this here? -
After replacing most of the red parts out with black parts. I started to take apart this model to its bare frame because I want to motorize it and the neat thing about it was that it came apart in chucks. This was very easy to dissemble by my estimate probably like ten connections you need to take apart and your already to its bare frame. Now I want to show a video that turns out that I have already watch it because I've already click like on it. And to this day I still think this video is amazing and it certainly going to get some attention here in my review because Lego Solde did a great job on motorizing it, however it is not the B model race car but that doesn't stop me from making this the bar when it comes to speed that I have set for myself.

Looks great! Nice work on the chrome details. I know he got his Mom a Pink Cadillac. Sure is.

From the two pictures I see below I want to make a comparison. I want to point out that I think it is interesting that the both models use a building technique to create a penstriping look down the model. For the studded one all that was need was a some plates to create the penstriping look and that major benefit here is there are tons of these plates with a wide variety of colors to chose from. As for the Studdless one you have thin lift arms to create the penstriping look. For the studless those thin lift arms don't come in many colors and can be a bit pricey compared to the Plates. However the pinstriping here is along the side of the hood on the model instead of the side like with the studded model and that is the big difference. Between the two models the studded model has to give up on penstriping the top of the hood because that would in make you resort to using a full width of the brick and that does not make for good penstriping look. However, with the studless model the penstriping look can be done where ever you can fit a thin liftarm at. And that is the big difference maker here.

I have both Technic studded and studless parts together in one box however studded beams and both studded and studless panels/anything bigger then a 2x2 plate are separate. I'm very particular on how I organised my LEGO. If were talking about functionality mainly, I believe studded is more functional because I know a couple of things that studded can functionally do that studdless can not be able to do. But on the other hand, a well designed studdless model would be able to incorporate more functionality in its designs more than complete studded construction would be able to. Its all about how your able to build with it in the end. I've done some interesting building techniques with the round ends of the studless Technic beams that I consider not really a LEGO building technique but more along the lines of a basic shape building techniques and that being said the square ends on the studded beams are more structurally fit to build with and will make the structure overall more ridged with less room over the studdless build because of the nature of the square shape keeps the brick from moving around out of it place. An advantage of the round corner is that it is perfect to center and position another round object due to its curve nature which is the opposite of a square brick because it is flat.

I got this today. So I decided to type something up and share with you my thoughts about the re-release of the 42041 Race Truck Set. This set was very fun to build. Before I know it I was already finished building it. I built the B model first over the A model. There are lots of nice things about this set in terms of building. I like how the rack and pinon is on this race car but even tho this set does not have any kind of suspension setup whatsoever for the wheels, on the other hand, this car is well built. It would have been awesome to see some kind of improvements done with new part that were develop after this set was released in 2010. I like how this race car looks construction wise, I think it looks sharp. That supercharger tho makes the V8 engine looks ridiculous, if the supercharger was tone down a little then the V8 engine would look much better. I've some thoughts on motorizing it but right now that will need to wait. I plan to make this Race car feel like it.

Build Upons: Light up bricks
Boxerlego replied to m3eu's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Understood. Yes Technic has better solutions but lets reminisce on the previous 9v era light system that was meant for both the system and Technic. I like how with the old 9v system lights would flash or light continuously by the direction you were able to connect it. How does that work out? LEGO sure had some great Ideas with the electrical stud connection. I have alot of those old 9v electrical brick connection and with some of them the rubber that is around the wire is brittle and breaking off. Which got me thinking that It would be awesome if there was a quick and easy way to connect up new wires with a electrical connection what works with LEGO.- 7 replies

Cadmium - Bouncing Lowrider
Boxerlego replied to mahjqa's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, the lowrider is awesome! That bounce is high -
If you used "used" axles in the model I would check out the moving axles connection first like those inside bricks and beams and see if the axle is spins ok and the axle looks perfect. I've had a tight Technic hole on a certain white 1x4 Technic brick where pushing an axle through the was hard and had to be done with some force and it was the Technic brick that was problem here not the axle but most of the time it the other way around because the axle is bent or twisted ever so slightly. This axle problem can plague tons of stuff especially the module Blakbird shows, that is intricate and needs special attention to both the bricks and axle to make sure everything is sliding along the axles smoothly step by step.

Build Upons: Light up bricks

But that is with the Technic system primarily. Build upons are bricks that light up with out all the wire mess.- 7 replies
