Little Manual Rally Car "Kisauto"
Lakop replied to Lipko's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks. I am on it. H -
Is it me or is there currently a lack of technic sets with red parts ? Apart from previous sets, ferrari car etc, I can only find the jet plane (set 9394) in red. I could really use some red parts. H

Why is 41999 NOT worth buying
Lakop replied to peter_m's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is an intersting one. Maybe the question should be, "why should I buy 41999?". My answer to that would be because it's a nice looking model with useful parts (ie: servo motor for steering, blue panels, wheels and tyres etc) and as I don't yet have an RC model. However, to answer the posted question, It's worth buying because it's a good looking model with useful parts but if you can't afford it or would rather buy another model then take your pick. I would love one but can't justify it against 42009 and 42008. I will be trying to get one of those for my birthday later in the year. I will of course try and make my own crawler type vehicle using the parts I receive as time goes by. If I could, I would by two of the sets I like and have one on display and use the other for parts, and 41999 would be one to buy, but I'm not in such a position as yet. H- 36 replies

Stronger Turntable Alternatives
Lakop replied to timslegos's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, Great looking model. You need to consider taking some of the weight off the turntable. increasing the surface area should help or could you possibly use two turntables side by side and pin them both down. You would need to experiment but be carefull not to break any turntables. Look forward to the finished model. H -

This is one of my favourite models. I would like permission to replicate it working from the pictures you have provided here. H -
42009 and 42008 at amazon ?
Lakop replied to Lakop's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi guys, smyths is showing it as being available from 26th July. I just checked stock levels. They have 42009 also. Anyway, at least we know where to get them and the prices. I just got 42006 a few weeks ago and i've a longer gap between pay days this month so might just leave it until later in the year. Final Thought: I wish the unimog or crawler prices would come down to about £50. H -

Am I dreaming? H

Technic Truck
Lakop replied to Lakop's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for the responses, gentlemen. I'll be back with it later in the year when I hope to add a trailer or maybe change the colour add suspension etc. As for detail, the exhaust, petrol tanks and steps just seemed to happen with little thought. i did at one point use a linear actuator for the exhausts at the sides. For now though I need the wheels off it for something else. H -

Lakop replied to madjelly's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
http://www.lego.com/en-gb/technic/products/construction/42008/a/ it's on the lego UK website H I was just about to download the instructions when the page went nuts. Now it can't be found. Technic products page not loading. -
Terminator 3
Lakop replied to piotrek839's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've seen that before but it must have been in construction. What a beauty! That must have taken ages to build and cost a small fortune. I bet the hardest part to design was the face H -
Garbage Truck Flagship
Lakop replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
A garbage/refuse truck is a good idea. I remember toys of refuse trucks many years ago, probably corgi. Also why not a container truck like the side loader or an Eddie Stobart truck and trailer. An american sytle fire truck as suggested would certainly get my attention. H -
Land Rover Series I RC model
Lakop replied to Tamas Juhasz's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'll watch the video in a bit. Excellent model. I like the motor and the chassis is a work of art. Very cleverly put together with a good use of those studded panels. H- 15 replies

[ My latest model. Based on the 8868 truck. It has no functions, no suspension as it's more about looks and styling. I wanted to give it the "Big Rig" look. Ideally I would have liked to use blue for the body but alas I don't have the parts as yet. I hope to get some red panels when they are back in stock. I move on now to something on a larger scale with functions etc. See more on my flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/lakop Thanks H

Review - 42008 Service Truck
Lakop replied to technicmad's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I like it and the green parts will come in handy for an Eddie Stobart moc (for those that know of Eddie Stobart). H it's not in the UK as yet. but wait. let me check Argos. 149 swiss franc (correct me if i'm wrong) is about £105 pounds. -
I would suggest a drive shaft and I would also suggest buying about 100 or more of those chain links. They do come in very handy and are good for experimentation. It's possible, as I don't know the scale of your model, that a chain link to a drive shaft could solve your problem. H

Little Manual Rally Car "Kisauto"
Lakop replied to Lipko's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That's very, very nice. The colour scheme is brilliant. It's a good looking neat car. Thanks for the pictures of the chassis (my to do list gets longer) I hope to build something similar soon. That's a model we should all build. I would love to see more variations. H -
July 9th? I'll be putting in an order. I need a servo so badly. Let's hope it's true. H

I doubt I will be able to buy one of these mammoth sets. It's brilliant and I would love to have one but it will probably be out of my price range for now. However, If I did by one I would have no problem using it's parts for other things as I don't have space to keep my sets assembled. I can see why some people buy two of their sets to have one on show and the other for parts. 41999 is a great set. H Whilst I'm here. if I were able to get one I would not buy off ebay or other auction etc site. I would want a fresh set direct from lego. With that in mind I probably won't be able to get my hands on it. I will just have to make my own. To those who do buy, or get 41999 for free, well done and enjoy it. I'm very jeolous but will get over it. Look forward to the videos and moc images. H

American dump truck
Lakop replied to GuiliuG's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very nice truck. I'm working on one similar (not a tipper as yet). I like the red panels too but lego are out of stock. I need red, yellow and blue if possible. When the new tow truck comes out we'll have green also (can you get them in blue). Great model H -
Logging Truck at Argos
Lakop replied to Lakop's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I take that as a clue that they are clearing out. It's just a shame no one can get these sets at those prices. Is it a ploy by argos to get you to buy another set? I will keep an eye on their 42006 prices over the next few months. H -
Ford Fiesta WRC
Lakop replied to piterx's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm liking the front suspension and steering. I might use that one. Some more body work and shaping of the back would be good but it's a great model. Thanks for the pics H -
Argos are doing the Logging Truck 9397 at £59.99, but again they are out of stock (at least in my area). Looks like they are clearing down for the new sets. Maybe someone might get a bargain. I, however, threw caution to the wind and bought 42006. I have nine bags of technic parts to assemble and looking forward to the tracks. I don't remember ever having bought two sets in the same year. I was lucky if I got one set every couple of years. H

Madoca1977's Wing Body Truck
Lakop replied to AndroTech's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've never seen a wing truck. That's a very clever model. I would buy it. How about a sliding door on either side. Great video. H -
Just looking at the Crawler Loader added to the forum. A good example of a set/model with minimal PF. There is an M motor but the model could easily be built without it. H You are correct. As people get older remote control etc becomes the next step. For smaller children though PF and IR is a bit too much so there is the need for a mix of both PF and non PF technic models. Our future robotic and remote control engineers are sure to learn from the PF crawlers etc and move onto greater things. h
