  1. Surely you should try and visit the lego factory. H
  2. A nice B model. I have rarely built any B modesl of any lego set I've ever had. I've just dug out some old instruction manuals and am thumbing through the B models. If I had that model I don't think I would take it apart. You just can't do it with some.
  3. Greetings, Got back from the lego shop in Manchester at 3pm ( I live further North ). It was a good experience. The store is stacked to the roof with lego, not much technic, about five sets, but there are models on display ( in cabinets ) so you can see the scale and the parts used. Prices are on the bottom of the boxes. Staff are good and the store had about twenty people in ( not including the staff ), about three were under the age of eighteen. That says something. I bought bricks, flats and other elements of various bright colours. I got home to find my technic elements order had arrived five days early. A real lego day. H PS: I have a plan to post some pics asap
  4. I'm ashamed to say I don't own any of them (yet) but I want them all. I would want 8258 and 8455, 42006 is like a refined 8043. 8421 looks to be god of all technic lego cranes. Some serious models out there with a good parts selection which is important for what else you can create. H
  5. I've just seen 42008 and 42009. I feel a purchase coming on. It's a while since I bought a large model and both are the type of model I like. However I'd buy 8258 if I could get my hands on it. Hopefully i'm at the lego shop in a week or two. H
  6. Hi, That's an idea I've had myself (once I start building models and taking pics of them). Why no try mounting the camera at the front of the vehicle. Or you could use a headcam style camera which saves to an SD card and mount that on your crawler. Keep at it I'm sure you can find a good solution. H
  7. I've been purchasing parts at about £20 per month since mid 2011, but skipped a few months last year, so I've spent about £250 since the end of 2011. My total collection is about £800 - £900 so far. Money is tight for me right now otherwise I would spend more. H
  8. I bow to your creations. A stunning model. H
  9. I built it to run four functions from one m motor. It was good practice for me to learn the new bits and pieces. I had it so a compressor would raise it using four pneumatic cylinders. I need to work on linear actuators next.
  10. A ball and socket connection is what I would recommend with some sort of linking bar (if that makes sense). Similar to what the third poster has said. H
  11. Epic! It's nice, clean and smooth. Can you, or have you already done, and Eddie Stobart truck? What you've done there is a form of art. H
  12. Thanks for the replies. (I just notice my spelling mistake too) I just started putting pieces together using the levers. I'm actually doing ok catching up and i'm ordering new elements almost monthly, just had a delivery at the weekend and have put in my next order. A new set is certainly required asap. But having said that I did get 8052 (container truck) in 2011, I also got a Hero Factory model and some of the new elements. The return is going well. PS: how do people post those high res pics? as you can see I had to scale down to get the small file size. H
  13. I've just done some pneumatic building and practising. You can make two cylinders work off one switch but you will notice one cylinder will want to function first then the other will follow as the air comes through. As the system fills with air though then both, in my experience so far, will start to work together in tandem. I've got a mix of old and new cylinders, including a new tank and new tubing, and i'm finding they all work well together. Are you using an air tank in your set up? H
  14. Hi people, As part of my "re-training" i've been practising with the functional elements, driving rings, changeover catches and gears etc. Here's a image of something that started off as a test rig. It started off as a single driving ring set up and grew from there. i've taken the pneumatic tubing off (as it was a bit of a mess) so you can see the contraption. I added the pneumatics with a compressor and it all works. The compressor is not built in as yet. i'm putting the picture on now as the set up will change. H
  15. Hi, I love moving parts, which is why I love lego so much, so I would go for the unimog. I was after the logging truck in december but funds did not allow. However I got some new pneumatic parts and I have some actuators. I would buy the crawler but only to make a pimped up unimog or excavator. H
  16. Welcome to Eurobricks. Not bad at all. I would take some time to refine it but so far so good. H
  17. Hi, That set inspired me to get pneumatic parts which i'm using right this moment. I did not realise I had seven large pneumatic cylinders, a smaller one and I also have the parts to make a compressor (which i am using now). I'm in the middle of making a multi function contraption. Reading this has just inspired me yet again. I could do with the instructions for 8868. H I forgot to say. Using the pneumatics to move the turntable is good. They have so many uses.
  18. I love this vehicle! I have about fourteen of the technic guys. I only ever got them in the three packs but missed out on the later models. I wish they would bring them back as I tend to make models (vehicles) based around them. H
  19. You could use studded parts upto a certain point then smooth it off with studless. But it's your project you do it as you see fit. It's looking good so far.
  20. Hi, I would love to get my hands on 8258 but the price on amazon is very steep (£399). It's in the hundreds compared to 9397 at Argos which is less than £100. But I noticed the price escalated during the run up to xmas.
  21. That's a lot of parts. But what the heck. Go for it! Can't wait to see the finished model H
  22. These are some of the best lego technic engineering projects i've seen so far. I watched a video of a real bridge builder and these models are realistic. H
