  1. The flashlights I found do not represent a CMF. The regular LEGO minifigures lack too much detail for me. I prefer the licensed ones or the CMFs.
  2. I liked the female minifigures in the Forestmen and peasant sets as a kid as well. I wonder if your experience is different as cultures are different. I have some friends who attended law school at Oklahoma City University the year that they were forced to admit women. That was way back in 1980. So the drive to give women equality is still relatively new at least in the United States. But the consideration in this thread is the LEGO Disney Princess line. There have been a sexist bent in the earlier Disney movies but that was part of the culture back then. My opinion is that more recent Disney fare goes a long way to balance this. I am glad that Merdia will be in these sets as well Cinderella. If they were minifgures instead of minidolls, I might get the Merdia set. Because to me and many other AFOLs the incompatibility of the minifigures and the minidolls is a real issue. To my kindergarten age niece, she has no issue with it. Her Star Wars, Castle, and Friends minis all play with each other.
  3. I will also buy them all. I bought the Goblin King set and I did not finish building it before tearing it down and placing the bricks in bins. Other LEGO sets depend on the minifigs or builds. But I will buy at least one of each of the Tolkien sets. I generally spread out the purchases to enjoy it longer.
  4. Itaria, I cannot tell if you are trying to prove the ridiculousness of the posters expressing concern about the representation of women in LEGO and the world in general by adopting an extreme counter point of view or if you really believe it. However, you are wrong at least about the medical workers. It is true that the one doctor and nurse in the CMF line are female. But the latest hospital set, Helicopter Rescue, has one male doctor, one male fire rescue helicopter pilot, and one female paramedic.
  5. I prefer the Bifrost variation 01 over V.2. What does the Elder Futhark Runes say on the side of those two builds?
  6. I have no issue with the Disney minidoll line. Yes, the criticism leveled at the older Disney films are true. But Snow White came out in 1937. In the last several decades Disney has made much progressive changes to their newer movies. Though I still have an issue with Beauty and the Beast where she has to change a man with anger management issues. I would want my daughter to walk away from a man like that. I still believe that it is better to introduce more kids to LEGO. If this Disney line gets more girls into building, it is a good thing. LEGO has proven adept to handling concerns about gender stereotypes with the Friends line and I believe that they will do it with this line as well.
  7. I am making steady progress with the series. I still need Grandma, Welder, and the Pretzel girl. I want a second Tiki Warrior and Saxophone Player. I only bought the Mountain Climber for the red helmet. I am making a bicycle shop MOC where they also sell different helmets. I am on the fence about the Diner Waitress but I hope to skip the Lady Robot. I am not sure if this is an easier wave to feel or if I am getting better at it. There was two Series 10 bags at Walmart while I was going through the Series 11. I bought my fourth Revolutionary Soldier but left the Mountain Climber.
  8. I doubt the Disney Princesses theme will compete with the Friends line as much as Megablocks' Barbie line. It also should expand the target audience to those that don't buy any brick at all.
  9. The Spartan vs Persian set and the Roman set were my two favorites. I agree that the Titan set looks rather thin. Andromeda's carriage might not be the solution to it though. Do you plan on rewording the Viking set? The Bifrost Gate seems out of place for this series. It fits Stargate or Thor but not any real Viking buildings. Heorot Hall, mead hall from Beowulf, or a Norse temple with 12 pillars would work better in my opinion.
  10. That is what we assume but there is no confirmation. One wave per Hobbit film.
  11. The press release said 17 sets. Have they changed the number?
  12. My total list is longer but here is my top three. 1) Eowyn v Witchking. I hope that includes the printing on the horse similar to the LotR game. Eowyn needs a new helmet mold. I don't have a preference on whether the fell beast will be 100% brick built or molded. But if the game is to be believed, it will be molded. 2) Edoras. We need a two heads for Theodon. One white one where he is under Saraman's influence. The other would be his regular head. I don't believe this could be on one head. 3) Bridge of Khazad Dum with the Balrog and Gandolf.
  13. I picked this one up on clearance. It is a great parts pack for city with eight of those windows, three green doors, and two clear doors. Dr Doom was great as well. Spiderman was a repeat for me and I don't care much about the Beetle.
  14. I just supported the Edoras set. It really captures the feel of the town without having to be to scale. My apologizes to Gondor fans but I would rather have Edoras than Minas Tirith. That said I figure it would be a $50 set leaving room for a slightly larger (though smaller than Orthanc) Minas Tirith.
  15. I supported the Spartan set and shared it on the LEGO Lord of the Rings Facebook page where I am a co-admin. I really like the shield designs and with the Captain America shield mold where they already are able to print on them, it is really doable.
  16. Actually, I don't. If Tiefighter just spent $1,000 on a LEGO set and followed the instructions, it would not be a major accomplishment. It would not be art. It would be just a product that they could afford. Speaking for myself only, I want sets that capture the feel but don't have to be the right scale. With enough brick and time, each of us could build the most fascinating Rivendale or Minas Tirith. We can marvel on the difficult building techniques used. When I see that someone build Palace Theatre or the Death Star, I wish I had those bricks. But when I see MOCs like this, I wish I could build my own massive MOCs.
  17. My thought was that Lois is a civilian. I wonder if he would feel the same about the Superman / Lex / Wonderwoman set. WW can fight just as much as Superman, but Lois cannot.
  18. Ecclesiastes is History... rather the Moderator of History. Praetorian Guard of the Roman Empire honors your ascendancy. Congratulations.
  19. Perhaps LEGO will break it up so that they release both Ecto 1 and the Firehouse separately and just split the minifigs between the two of them.
  20. I think we will avoid the fate of the Western Modular as long as TLG is not already in talks for Filmation's Ghostbusters. This is still risky since TLG seems to only do one CUUSOO a review period and they have never approved such a massive set. Still with the numbers that they are getting for BTTF and the overall appeal of modulars, I think this is worth doing. I would buy one for the beautiful firehouse as well as out of love for the Ghostbusers. Slimer really needs to be redone though.
  21. To me that means characters that were released a long time ago. I don't think that means characters that came out in the last year or two. But I don't think that is very different from CMF now. We have the Forest Man in Series 1 that thematically was a new again fig from the Forestmen era. I would say that the whatever era basketball players in the trailer are fair game but the TMNT and Batman are not. Any characters from a previous CMF series would not be possible. They have not been gone long enough to be "new again".
  22. I would buy some police sets IF they had the CMF cap from Series 9. Otherwise, the cops look incomplete.
  23. Even if the National Enquirer is to be believed (cannot believe I just typed that), there were no LEGO sets for The Wolverine... it did not evade any of the other toy aisles. I doubt Wolverine 3 - 6 would have any LEGO sets either.
  24. Perhaps it is a litter clean up or rescuing a dolphin stranded on the beach.
  25. I don't think the main characters from the movie will be in the minifigure packs. Those are likely in the sets. I suspect this series will be for minifigs that are not currently available any other way. I do like the female lead whatever her name ends up being (Lucy?) but I agree on the other two designs.
