  1. Rohan Battle Pack defeats the Watcher in the Water 14 to 7
  2. Bacem, I think it would be easiest if everyone checked the PM that they sent so that CopMike did not have to reach out to us. I just did and that was my complete international address.
  3. That saved me from eating at McDonald's. I would have shift my eating out for lunch money there for bricks but I will pass on a cup. Dorayaki is right though, it is not surprising since even a single minifig or a few bricks is too expensive for a Happy Meal Toy.
  4. I think TLG should release the Minas Tirith from the bonus level. Then everyone would be in agreement that the one on CUUSOO is very detailed and a good representation in comparision.
  5. I like sets that build something recognizable. The random ruins of either Dol Guldo, Goblin King, and even the Mirkwood Spiders just seem like a mash of bricks. Although I don't have it yet, the Laketown Chase set looks the best to me. It might not the best figures but it is the type of build that I would MOC. I do have DGA and Mirkwood Elf Army already. The tree in the MEA looks bad to me. The wall was too short and the color changes seemed random as well. I have not seen DoS so maybe the set would make more sense if I did. However, from this board I get the impression that it wouldn't.
  6. Wertykelpie, a lot of it depends on your focus. But the Uruk Hai Army came out two years ago in the very first wave. I would recommend that one as it will be the first of these sets to become unavailable.
  7. If I understand correctly, that site says there will be three sets released in October that are LotR and or Hobbit. The Hobbit sets had been showing up in December so perhaps these are LotR. The delay from summer might be due to scheduling conflicts. That is the hope.
  8. I supported that Minas Tirith just as I supported the creator's Edoras model. Both are appealing. There may be value in supporting Lord of the Rings projects on CUUSOO but that won't counteract whatever sells data TLG has. Also CUUSOO projects have an initial production run of 10,000 to 20,000 units so they cannot support new models that many of us want for Gondor. I truly hope that we get another wave of LEGO Lord of the Rings. I think there are more sets that have been designed but LEGO probably has already made their decision as they have to schedule production and shelf space for a wave. This line brought me out of my dark ages but I will still be an AFOL when it finally sunsets. But the current Castle line was so disappointing that I only bought the smallest set while the older Kingdoms line had me trying to find the few remaining sets to buy.
  9. I have been on the fence on this set. I would have bought it for the Loins Head brick but not for $30. The issue is that the minifigures are mostly generic. I like the look of the minifigures in almost all the other sets. Even the town lady in this set looks generic. If I find it for $10 off on clearance I might buy too. Thanks for the review Clone O Patra.
  10. SirBlake, that is an excellent idea but someone has to have 500 posts before making a poll. If one of the Mods would like to add one, I would greatly appreciate it.
  11. This is second week of Middle-Earth Madness. Rohan Battle Pack was victorious last week. If you had to pick only one Dream set, which would it be? Rohan Battle Pack OR Watcher In The Water Just like last week, these are dream sets so there is no hard or fast rule on what has to be included in either. Imagine you had a chance to greenlight just one LEGO Lord of the Rings set based on a simple description. Which one would you want? Summary from previous week(s): Week 1 - Rohan Battle Pack defeats The Green Dragon 23 to 4.
  12. Rohan Battle Pack wins 23 to 4. Hopefully this week's challenge will be a more even match.
  13. I got a second DGA and another constable for Christmas. I am not sure what to do with the second Beorn but I like the orcs with hair and more bricks. Just before Christmas I got Black Zero Escape for 30% during the Target We are Sorry We Let Someone Still Your Credit Card Info Sale.
  14. JeagerEX, you could just get another Wild West Wildstyle for the hair.
  15. Darth_Mor, you might also try Bricklink. You can find sellers there that sell any type of brick you want. I have never found Pick A Brick to have most of the bricks I need to build anything. The Shop@Home does have quite a bit of selection but it is still limited. Returning to topic, I like the brick selection in this latest Hobbit wave. I doubt I will keep any of the builds intact but I was impressed with the longer tan bricks in the Mirkwood Elf Army. I think this is what is important to remember about the LEGO sets. It is not just that they are designed for kids. They are not. They have a wide variety of points trying to appeal to many groups. Most of us like the minifig selection. Others appreciate the builds while others the existing pieces in a new color (red leaves for example). The tan pieces will be helpful for the next time I try to build Edoras. The only LEGO sets I plan on keeping intact are Bagend, Helm's Deep, and the Medieval Market Village. When I buy Orthanc, it will join that list.
  16. We will have both Edoras and the Witchking Dream Sets appear in the contest. Right now, I am trying to decide if this week's winner should face off with another battle pack next week or something else.
  17. I plan on having The Prancing Pony a bit later in the contest.
  18. This is the first week of Middle-Earth Madness. There is still plenty of time to nominate contestants in the first thread. In fact some of the most in demand dream sets will be held back for later. After a Witchking or Minas Tirith would defeat most oppontents. If you had to pick only one Dream set, which would it be? Rohan Battle Pack OR The Green Dragon Can one of the moderators add a poll to this thread? Thanks!
  19. Deathleech, I had been thinking of more of a March Madness tournament where I would have 32 sets the first week and the 16 winners would face off the second week. However, your approach sounds good too and it would last more than a few weeks. Thanks!
  20. I would pick the siege tower. It is a realistic build that could be incorporated into different castle subthemes. The wheel looks too cartoonish for me.
  21. Dane, I can understand your frustration. However, I think you need to PM CopMike and Rick and wait for their response there. A lot of work went into this and I read that CopMike is very busy with other things right now. Even if they were able to verify that the entries on pages 8 and 9 are valid and add them into the data set now, those peoples odds of winning will be gravely damaged. Despite that though, I hope this does not derail the Christmas raffle for next year. Because if it does, then everyone will have a zero percent chance at winning then. If you include in your PM the user names that you think were valid but missed from those pages, it might expedite matters once they have a chance to review it.
  22. Let's have an elimination tournament for dream LotR sets. Alcarin had asked which set would people chose if they had to only chose one: Balrog v Witchking. That is an easy choice for me but let's expand it to all sets we are still dreaming for LEGO Lord of the Rings. There is no need to make these sets detailed proposals or even list the minifigs proposed. I think it should just be the basic concept. Examples would be Balrog, Treebread, Witchking, and Lothlorien. Voting for each round will be open for a week. In each week's thread, feel free to post proposed sets or screenshots from the video game. We just cannot get very detailed in the actual poll. Please nominate sets in this thread and when we have enough ideas I will build the brackets.
  23. I think we should have a 16 LotR dream set conference bracket. We can take nominations for general sets Witchking, Balrog, Treebeard, etc and vote on them. Each week the winners would advance to the next round. What does everyone think?
  24. I am looking forward to learning about about McDonald's tie in. If they are system compatible bricks or minifigures, count me in.
  25. Bobskink, I don't know if it is any consolation but I consider the Batman Juniors set to be inspired by your custom Duplo build. The 60s retro Batman and Robin probably would not have been made without TLG seeing the popularity of your work. I think Faefrost is right about the reason for the evolving rules and just realized the set I want most from Cuusoo except a good Roman set is impossible. I had hoped that someone would do a Forestmen set. No new molds would be needed. However, they have a rule against trying to bring back all themes too.
