Excellent find. I always check at Salvation Army and Goodwill but never have found anything like that. I am very envious. Enjoy them. Forestmen were my favorites before my dark ages.

Quiz: Which type of Middle-Earth Minifig are you?
Blakstone replied to Bricknave's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Seeing how I spent a portion of the evening watching two barred owls in my backyard, I feel that the elf designation makes sense. Now if I could communicate with them, then I would be a dwarf a la The Hobbit.- 20 replies

Good build. I enjoyed the mix of green and olive leaves. The red leaves seemed a bit out of place for me. I look forward to seeing your future MOCs.

I agree. That would be a way to get my play out of the sets. You could also have a Roman or Egyptian chariot set. The Real Indiana Jones, I loved for the Athena set because I am fascinated with her story. Your sets look to be great display pieces but that cuts out the child market. Besides I think it would be excellent if Classical era LEGO introduced children to history and ancient myths.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
Blakstone replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Since I am disappointed in the yeti and I doubt the barbarian will interest me, I am interested in Series 12 now. I want historical / mythological minifigs. Still, if we see some really interesting minifigs I might buy a few. -
I agree with LegoFreak86. TLG uses promotions like this to expose more potential customers to LEGO. They are likely losing money on these to build up more customers. That is why it is a promotion and not just a set for sell. I am glad that it is not a polybag that I would need. I saw some of these at a local Walmart. Even when I was buying Milkwood Elf Guard, I made sure that I left plenty behind for other fans. Do we expect any polybags for the Hobbit wave this December? If so, what two minifigs do you wxpect? My guesses is an orc and Bilbo.

I believe Propicz's point was that TLG did not do an even split with Uruk Hai Army set so why would they for a Gondor centric set? I hope that there are new helmet molds for Gondor in the next wave. Their helmets are distinctive.

Great Viking architecture and hence it matches Edoras as well. My favorite portion is the golden horse helms to make the carved horse heads. I have struggled to find a way to do that. Excellent idea and a wonderful build overall.

No, I have only seen them at TRU and the LEGO Store. Interestingly enough, when I went back to TRU on Saturday, these sets were gone and there was no longer any shelf space dedicated to them. Also I have not seen the new Castle sets at other stores but they were still at TRU.

Ecclesiastes, our new History Regulator

Congrats Ecc! -
Today I got the Forest Ambush at TRU and the Vampyre's Castle on clearance at Walmart. That castle was marked down to $69.

Despite a comment from my wife about having enough LEGOs already, we went to the mall today and I got the Council of Elrond and the Battle at the Black Gate from the LEGO store. They threw in the Jor El minifig. I don't know if I will open that or resell it. Instead of Russell Crow, it reminds me of my best friend. I could use him in a MOC. I will wait on the Corsair ship until an Amazon sale.

I got Wizard Battle at the TRU mark up. I am waiting until probably Thursday of next week to do a big LEGO Store purchase for more of the new wave LotR. I am waiting for a Bricklink order of shields, swords, and heads while contemplating declaring for a guild in Historica.

Fives, I really like your Amon Hen, Treebeard, and Balrog ideas. I would be very pleased with those. I have a hard time envisioning a Minas Tirith centered on Denethor. There is just not any action for that character. I know that he is important to the story, though not to any battle. I think our only hope would be that he would be a LEGO Store promotion. It would not take any new molds to make him. The two biggest sets should tie in together with Gondor. Though my wish would be for the Witch King to come with Eowyn, Merry, and Theoden.

1) Roman Soldier 2) Spartan Warrior 3) Minotaur 4) Viking Woman 5) Medusa I hated leaving the Elf and Forest Maiden from the list but there was no room left.

This review has changed my opinion of Dragon Mountain from Pass to a Buy. The dragon was always exciting but not worth the $50 US. However, once you add the portcullis piece and the printed padlock piece, I find it doable. The rest of the brick will get filed away into my collection too. I am already plotting how to make a function portcullis move up and down for a real gate house.

Thanks for all the kind words. I appreciate it.

"It's A.D. 60; the Iceni of East Anglia led by the legendary Boudica have rebelled against Roman rule, and have just been defeated in a terrible battle fought somewhere in the Midlands. As a result the Romans are building a series of fortifications across the Midlands including the Lunt..." This fort is inspired by the Lunt Roman Fort. I needed a place to display all my Roman soldiers.

SMC, if it helps, LEGO wants you to buy multiple Uruk-Hai Army sets too. The instructions for Helm's Deep show two Uruk-Hai Army sets added to it. That is how I have my Helm's Deep model as well.

LEGO Monster Fighters on Clearance
Blakstone replied to Blakstone's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
The Penn and Memorial Walmart in OKC has the Ghost Train for $54 and the Vampire for $24 or $25. There were seven or eight of the Ghost Trains and two of the Vampire sets. -
LEGO Monster Fighters on Clearance
Blakstone replied to Blakstone's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Whoever discounts LEGO at the NW Expressway / Council Walmart in OKC does it stepper than any other place I have seen. I once bought the PotC London Escape for $25. The Walmarts seem to decide locally on when to discount and by how much. -
While doing my regular lunch time hunts of local Targets and Walmarts, I came across LEGO Monster Fighters 9467 The Ghost Train for $15. I have not touched much Monster Fighters but at that price I could not pass it up. With the June wave of LEGOs soon to appear, now is a great time to check for clearance specials.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion
Blakstone replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I don't want Mr. Gold but I cannot find a Medusa anywhere. I am not very good at feeling packs but I would expect her tail would make her the easiest to feel. I have got very good at feeling the Roman helmets I added two to my army of seven Roman Commanders today. I really want more Roman shields though.- 1,076 replies
