  1. This is a fantastic set. We got it yesterday and It's just wonderful. Lego robot Wild West, what's not to love about that? The sheriff is one of the best figures I've ever seen, the printing means the bodies can all be used with regular heads, and the moustache piece is an inspired piece of whimsy. Well done TLG!! And thanks again CO'P.
  2. My kids have just got this with some Christmas money, along with the Robot sheriff set. It's a great little build and they're delighted with it. It works well with other baddies - great for superheroes or agents for example - and it's a reasonable price too. Clone O's review does it justice, as always.
  3. "Thanks for the great review. I am sure this set will be really popular among kids." That's certainly the situation in my house - my kids have seen the sets and are crazy about this and the bike sets, and are now saving up to buy them. I wasn't so sure they were worth the money, but Clone O's reviews have shown me they are while maybe some of the 2 in 1s aren't.
  4. I do want Sudds' head and bowler hat to make a Dr Watson to go with my CMF detective Holmes, but otherwise nothing in this set really excites me. Maybe that'll change after I've seen the film. There are plenty more sets in the range that I'm wild about though, so I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of Clone O's excellent reviews.
  5. Watcher in the water with the doors of Durin, Frodo, Legolas and either Aragorn or Boromir would be a great set. But ... I'd still love a Bit more variety in my Rohirrim - royal guard helmet, green shield with a white horse etc - so although it's a tough call, Rohan Battle Pack gets my vote again.
  6. Amazingly amazing. First Benny's ship (though not the one in the background of the poster), then the mech, then the drop ship, and then Metalbeard's pirate ship. All fabulous sets. Thanks to everyone who found them.
  7. I'd love those army builder sets, but the one we HAVE to get are the dwarves of the Iron Hills. I have loved them for as long as I've loved lego, and getting some lego versions of them will be a dream come true.
  8. What an amazing creation. Whether it's like you imagine Rivendell or not it is absolutely fantastic. So much to spot!
  9. If that lot rock up to Dol Guldur, it would make for a great set. Tombs of the Nazgul in Rhudaur do sound creepy and atmospheric, but are a completely PJ creation - Sauron gave them the 9 rings and they became wraiths, so there was no burying in tombs or anywhere else required.
  10. Yep. The opportunity for old Bilbo in a set has surely come and gone with the Council of Elrond. Now there was a set which would've been perfect for him - instead of Gimli and the stupid play feature. But it was not to be. Another example of some of the odd choices that were made in wave 2.
  11. I completely agree. If some have massive ears, they all need them. I've BL'd bald caps and hair pieces so all my orcs and goblins have them, apart from a couple in Uruk helmets. The goblins I use in Moria because I wanted plenty of baddies, the orcs get used for everywhere, and it works well.
  12. That pic of Benny is a very good sign of his appearing as a figure isn't it. The simulated wear on the planet symbol and the moulded break in the helmet make it pretty clear to me that he's coming - there'd be no need to create a different image for him with those changes if he wasn't. I can't wait! He can be introduced to my real 1980 something spacemen.
  13. A really great idea. I love the many Bat-references, and the design is fantastic - it manages to capture so many of the iconic aspects of Wayne Manor and the Batcave whilst being of a manageable scale and - if it is eventually realised - a manageable cost. I have no idea if it could make it through Cuusoo, but even if it doesn't it's a design to be really proud of. Well done both of you.
  14. I can't get over the "great war leader, doesn't wear many clothes" look of Azog. You'd think being covered in scars and losing an arm would be enough to make him wear some armour. Bolg seems to have slightly picked up on his dad's failings with that shoulder armour, but it looks like it'd be another generation before anyone in the family thinks of investing in a helmet. It's a shame. because it would've made for two better-looking baddies, and two better-looking minifigs.
  15. And Denethor. And for Superheroes, Clayface.
  16. I would've really liked a Thor helmet like we saw in those great animated shorts - silver Castle dwarf one works okay, but the look of the other one is fantastic. I do like that armoured truck. It'll be great for any super hero game, and has a bit more muscle to it than the City one. Probably the most useful multi-purpose vehicle in any of the Marvel or DC sets. Shame there aren't more like it in the other sets.
  17. That might be right. It's been a while since I read UT, but I thought most of the Ringwraiths' and the Witch King's background was set to in various parts of the LotR. Anyway, for whatever reason, that background is different to that explained in the Rivendell scene. And a Twilight Ringwraith whether from the Hobbit or LotR would have been a great figure - when we first heard about Dol Guldur Ambush I'd hoped it might be Radagast vs one as in AUJ. Sadly no.
  18. It is supposed to be the Witch King - there's that explanatory dialogue when his weapon that Radagast has taken as a souvenir is unwrapped and flopped onto the table at Rivendell, and people say something like "Ooh. But Angmar was buried in an unmarked grave in the northern fells blah blah" and Saruman says "Chillax! Calm down everyone" (again, I paraphrase). Why PJ felt the need to do that to the Witch King's back story is beyond me, unless he's just decided that he likes altering everything Tolkien wrote.
  19. Massively over-priced, 2 dimensional set with mostly uninspiring minifigs and limited play features. Not much of a flag ship for Hobbit Wave 2, and that probably reflects how badly PJ has realised what should have been the White Council's reduction of Dol Guldur - instead of Galadriel, Saruman, Glorfindel and co striding into magical combat we get some guy with poo on his hat versus an Orc chieftain who thinks a loin cloth is this season's hottest battlefield clothing choice. There is some fantastic printing on display though. Rsdagast's torso is excellent, as is the statue. But some good printing doesn't mask what a limited set this is. Neither does it make the price any less absurd.
  20. iz I'm not really either - after the Penguin Duck boat, it's my favourite. But then the overall wow factor has sadly ended up being pretty low in this series, after a lot of eager anticipation by adults who should know better. I do think the steamroller was an idea that was funnier in concept than it has proved to be in its execution. The bizarre grabby wings on Batman's custom pimped Naboo starfighter are, well, bizarre, but I like the new Joker figure and I have 2 daughters who are both absolutely delighted to know they'll be able finally to get a Batgirl figure. And when it comes to it, I still like the idea of the Joker driving steamroller.
  21. Hmm. So the ring under the statue is "one of the five wizard rings". A PJ addition to the magic rings of Middle-Earth I presume - as if 3 for the elves, 7 for the dwarves, 9 for men and 1 ruling ring weren't enough.
  22. I'm with Nemo. They just don't do it for me. Nightwing looks constipated, Manbat looks worse than a MOC using Monsterfighter and CMF werewolf bits, Flash isn't as good as Christo's, Riddler's printing is amazing but his outfit is just odd. Batman is the best of the lot, but we don't exactly need another version of him. A pity.
  23. I think MEA's problem is the same as that which is found in so many of these Middle-Earth sets, which is that it doesn't quite cut it. Long ago we discussed the colour of Aragorn's legs, the weird look of Gandalf having a beard but no hair at the back, the lack of a quiver for Legolas. All of those were things which stopped each of those figures being perfect, and under-mined the sets they were in. The elves in MEA have got great printing, but the lack of helmets for at least one of them stops them being really great figures IMO, and for a set that is centred on the elves that under-mines it from the outset. As for the build, the structure is really unimpressive. Unlike Uruk-hai Army it's not an add-on to anything, and as a stand alone structure, it's just not good enough to make the set stand out for me, unlike the Council of Elrond say. A wood-elf structure could have been a tree fort or look-out post without the weird wall that doesn't really go anywhere or look complete. So a taller tree with some elven arches and a platform near the top, plus a couple of elves in helmets, another in a hood or with hair, Thranduil, 2 orcs and the warg. That would've been good.
  24. Yep. I had exactly the same experience when I tried. Only a week or so to wait though.
  25. This is a wonderful build - sleek, massive, retro and stylish. I would love to try and do something similar when the Juniors Batman figures are available.
