  1. @blakbird: Many nice and necessary MOD´s have been added here and I´m looking forward for my set to come (with delay) and to build it. Would it be possible to make an index with CAD based pictures and naming the steps of the BI where to replace parts? Also to mention the use of extra parts which are not included in the set. So everybody who wants to build his Ultimate can choose which modifications he likes and could easily apply them. The motorization MODs should go into an extry category not related so much to the main improvements that don´t change the car substantially. Thanks in advance for considering and your efforts!
  2. You didn´t mention - do all functions with the body on it still work as good as yesterday after completing the chassis and before adding the body? What´s your opinion on the many "bridge overs" or "channeling" techniques? That adds unnecessary friction and doesn´t resemble a real car´s drivetrain in any way.
  3. I have some doubts anyway until I can build and try myself. As far as I understand his changes have nothing to do with the gear changing but the reduction of the high total amount of friction which can be done with this little but effective modification. Clean gear changes need smooth sliders where the driving rings can engage easily and the knob wheels to move 90 degrees each time and then stay in position while the shifting pedal is being operated back and forth. IMHO It´s highly laudable that blakbird tries to "rescue" the Porsche from the scrap yard (the driver of this car has confused the shifting between R and D) Of course, because the resulting blood orange juice colour will match the Lava Orange on the box
  4. Thanks for sharing and big applause! Very clever and logical design . Your diagramms and explanations show clearly that it´s not as complicated. Using 1 (?) gear more than 42056 and resulting in 8+N+R is just the pinnacle of what can be achieved or nowadays we should say "THE ULTIMATE" ! I really love your spirit of innovation and creativity to come up with new unconventional but elegant and still reliable mechanism which I´m totally missing in the Porsche. I´m wondering what someone with half of your skills could develop if having all possible resources such as new better parts, an army of supportive coworkers, 3 years of time and being paid a nice salary...
  5. It's easy to "fix" - just turn it upside down... Didn't they even have the time to sit in the real one or what?? Being shocked the xx time today!
  6. Thank you for your brilliant review, Paul! I´ve always liked your humor and in this case the bulked irony which adds another bitter flavour into the designer´s coffee, they really deserve it. Especially I love the comparison with Sheepo´s Porsche at the end of your video !
  7. Thank you Jim for this fantastic review ! I´m shocked! What disappointing discoveries! Jamming gearbox despite of new sliders design (we had a new design few years ago already)? They messed up the gear´s order which results in errors in the building instructions??? Oh come on... All the other minor flaws combined don´t count here. And now the recall the first batch to fix it - that leads to customer´s satisfaction as well because even the biggest enthusiasts who might have wanted the set first will be scared off. You´ve tried hard to do justice to this set. Nobody and nothing is perfect, but this statement can´t be applied to the Ultimate Porsche now! Even the best photographs and nicest description can´t come around the true fact: the whole set is a huge disaster! Especially the asked price is even more ridiculous now. Anyway I stupid idiot will buy it for some unexplainable reason: I love Technic supercars and will need the parts to build my own.
  8. Yes, don´t be angry ! The following excerpt from http://blogbuzzter.de/2016/04/ein-porsche-911-gt3-rs-von-lego-technic/ will cause floating tears of joy (or sorrow?) in your eyes: “A Porsche GT3 RS with all possible functions. The cylinders in the engine move and even the shift pedals at the steering wheel switch the 6 functioning gears. The part comes in a fancy box with booklet and all the trimmings. The Porsche kit costs 300 € which however is still cheaper by € 155,000 than the original.” (free translation)
  9. I´ve heard it doesn´t steer as well... But it offers 4 x reverse in its gearbox - that´s the new achievement we have to pay for . Maybe it won´t hurt so much if to sell the stickers, the book and the box after the purchase which I won´t need after unboxing... I hear a lot of bitter sarkasm and disappointment, but the final judjement can´t be made this way. Seriously, after all the previous hype now we see all the complaints even before it´s in the stores - that´s exactly what I personally had expected. The poor designer of the car must have nerves out of steel now to endure the critics (no real compassion here). Hopefully after this one we will see another supercar though at some time ever. Sometimes I really have the suspission that it´s part of the philosophy to make a not-perfect-model and leave some room for playing and "improvements", at least for me it increases fun a lot. Seems to me like the Porsche delivers a perfect base for MODing and MOCing variations such as B-models or PF upgrades to make it a real ULTIMATE.
  10. If this car is supposed to be released right after the Porsche, you have a good chance then having already built the first car MOC with the new wheels and in orange color (?) ! I´m really curious about your sequential 8 - speed gearbox and its shifting mechanism! quote: What is you opinion? Would you prefer working diskbrakes over steering geometry or the other way around? Are there any other features that you would like to see included? unquote I would prefer working functions as discbrakes over so called steering geometry or other fancy inclinations. But who knows - maybe you´ll be able to implement both at this scale? Don´t know which other features would be preferable..., maybe a working sound system (joke). Regarding the new fenders I think the same - you don´t know if they fit on every car, especially the front. Hopefully this is not your last supercar MOC, even if I agree that the spectrum of possible functions and innovations in manual supercars let´s say are getting close to "exhausted", especially with the 42056. On the other hand, after a break you probably will start something new again having fresh ideas . And what I like most at our hobby is that everybody can create something unique setting rules to him or herself and follow them consistently (or not) .
  11. Thanks for sharing! One is missing, but I don´t mind if you don´t like it It might be Michael Schumacher´s poor little neighbour who couldn´t get involved into the racing business, so he decided to make his living on selling smaller ones ... He will be lucky if to sell it for half of the asked price, IMO. Really? I´d like to put my bid too, if you would post a link
  12. I had to look twice just to realize - this is not simply another Arocs C-model, a few more Arocs had to be sacrificed for this one for sure ! I like how you use PF for such big scale. This clean and expressive style, everything looks rationally placed  . I only miss a more realistic grid. Please do a video with some "heavy" load !
  13. As others said: good first try! You asked for critics, so here they come .The proportions are not perfect, if you want to know how to do better, just try to scale down some real car from blueprints. I would try to avoid to cover big areas with system parts / plates, better try to use as many panels as possible. I also use them often, but only decently to smooth some edges. The front view is cool and I hope you enjoy the car .
  14. Thanks for sharing too! It´s the first time I see the "Shell" version. It seems to me there went something wrong at the front hood. Its edges should be lower and meet the grill behind it. The front lights should go 1 stud outward. If the front tires scrub the lights, use a travel limiter as shown before in this thread. Regarding the batteries: I think it wouldn´t help to use the (expensive!) rechargeables, even if they save some weight. Even if you would use a third battery for the steering, the problem with the so called PTC termistance engagement would occur anyway. Simple solution: a lower gear reduction behind the differential (instructions: option B).
  15. Great job! Finally you´ve finished it, or should I say "them". I like especially the bodywork, front and rear view. The blue version with stickers with its row of headlights is a real cracker!
  16. It looks like you´re having real fun building different cars and especially this fast! This is only my own opinion, but maybe you should try to do a car closer to real car´s dimensions and proportions? You definitely are developing some skills . And by the way: who is this ominous brother ??
  17. Thanks for honouring me and putting at number one in the list of "unclean" car builders ! A little correction: I didn´t build the BMW M1, only the M4 DTM. I agree with you at one point: amongst other things Lego supercars are made to PLAY with. I´ve grown out the 6 year old who play on the floor (and build as well) moving their cars with the hand (JOKING!) and prefer to build full motorized RC cars (like I was dreaming of when I was 10 years old). By the way: currently I´m building a non-motorized supercar, not least to prove to myself that I can do it. Guys, don´t take this discussion too serious, have fun, build and play whatever you want !
  18. Thanks to Jaap who now also made the stickers for the black "BMW Bank" version, so everything is complete now. They can be ordered at his design studio: http://www.jaaptechnic.com/p/2d-3d-design.html Side note: this is a service provided from Jaap and I personally don´t earn a single penny from this. Jaap is not a profit oriented business company and the reasonable prices cover just the high costs for machinery equipment and material.
  19. I appreciate your efforts going the next step and add functionality. This gearbox is nice! As far as I know this is the biggest diameter available. Which wheel would you suggest?
  20. Like Filius said: this Pagani seems to be fine standing on the shelf. The functions, rigidity and playability could be of questionable quality if to be compared with some high standards and expectations from critics. And I personally have the suspicion that the designer is kind of “cheating” on the video, especially with the alternately moving flaps not shown both in a single sequence. Moreover, I have compared some chassis details with the pictures and there are few differences. So what? It´s a great MOC and piece of art. Everybody is watching and slobbering – F. Hartly did a great job! Even if I don´t care much about the legalstic discussions about questionable part usage, beams over flex axles and such stuff I got itchy fingers to join in at this point. Who makes the rules? The TLC designers or “common sense”? It´s fine if everybody follows some rules setting personal limits of what is tolerable and what is not. Everybody is free to appreciate anything according to what he/she likes and what not, it´s so called artistic freedom, end of story. If a designer is bound to limits regarding rigidity, reliability of functions and “legal” techniques for average taste and due to quality requirements making sure high sales numbers and customers satisfaction, it´s a different story. By the way: the new Porsche also seems to have some flaws such as front suspension, the steering wheel area, rubber bands and who knows what else. Nothing and nobody is perfect. I like it. And what´s wrong with use of cut tubes instead of flex axles? The Pagani again is a good example for the scarcity of flex axles in blue colour: 10x12L and 12x19 L. I bet that the shops at Bricklink all over the world can´t provide you all of them at once to build only 1 copy and even if so, you´ll spend a fortune for them. I´m about designing a blue supercar right now and I just can´t get around those issue, so the simplest solution is the pneumatic tube. Third party (ouch, another “no go” ) but who cares. The availability of blue parts in general still is very limited and I´ll be glad if being able to make an entirely blue MOC with all the hooks and eyelets though.
  21. Big respect, that you somehow have managed to recreate the Pagani (only from low resolution pictures??)! As far as I know there are no instructions available from Francesco Hartley and he usually doesn´t respond to such kind of inquiries.
  22. I´m glad if you´ve come forward with some ideas. Man, there are so many countless nice cars out there! In my very humble opinion - your F40 is really good as it is. What about the rebuild of your Testarossa? I know somebody who would really love to own a copy of it ! The wheels of real cars are getting bigger and makes the replica smaller if to keep right proportions if you mean that. So there is good news for us with the new Porsche - its wheels are game changers. Yeah, I´m sorry about this. But even with more detailed pictures anyway I think some parts would be almost impossible to replicate. For example the engine hood was a nightmare to make - it´s still kind of fragile and underneath looks like a mess. Some "dirty" building techniques of mine can not be recommended to everybody ... I have thought about it while building the front fenders. But the last 3L beam, if to "stack" them in a row consistently, would cause a slight collision with the tire when steered and that´s not desirable. And you know what: many don´t like such kind of building, e.g. at my previous model I´ve been told off by some experts of "beam stacking" and I took it seriously for the future .
  23. Thanks! All honest critics are welcome. If you mean the front fenders made of flex axles being not consistent with the rest - unfortunately I see no other possibility to make curved shapes and cover more gaps in the bodywork. And nothing is perfect, this MOC still isn´t either. A self designed car would be a new challenge for me, I have such idea in mind, but there are several other projects of "real" cars which will come first. And by the way: I remember our short discussion on "traditional" purist supercars without PF - hopefully I have convinced you that there are other options to make them playful and give some realistic touch anyway .
  24. As European I´m not so familiar with Hotrods in general. But you did a great job on this - it looks very cool and features nice manual / RC functions. Mostly I like the custom fake engine !
  25. No problem, you are a busy man on here . Thanks in advance, I´m curious already! All pictures of this model can be seen at bricksafe here: http://bricksafe.com...nojj1/laferrari I hope these pictures are helpful to understand the mechanism: Here it is shown upside down: The Spritney Bears song starts with "Oops..." - it´s not like that!
