You might be kidding ?? Or are you in generous mood today because the sun is shining ? Honestly, next to Kyrill (desert752) I feel kind of tiny and there are MOCers out there far better than me... Anyway THANK YOU!

If your MOC stands the hardest critiques - it means you should feel honoured really playing in the "Champions League"! Getting the max out of only a few available parts means you have great skills. Thanks for the changes! I rarely want to build other´s MOCs, but with this one I would probably make an exception and build it in black with red interiour, maybe put in Sbrick and PF stuff / LEDs .

Congrats to this great supercar! It´s a beautiful replica, for me probably the most likeable Technic R8 out there which doesn´t leave me indifferent. Clean body lines, nice extras as door lock, spoiler adjustment and cute details as the luggage and glove compartment. I personally don´t miss a gearbox and I do miss some PF as you did in your previous model, but that´s my own opinion. The HOG steering seems to be uncomfortable in vertical position. You may be kind of limited by parts availability, but I would have put black wheels on so that the silver rim covers would come out better. I wouldn´t say it´s perfect because when I see some of your great building techniques and ideas, I believe you can do even better and your masterpiece is still to come. Good luck with selling instructions!

42056 - Porsche Speculation
brunojj1 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The half-truths and pseudo knowlegde here are really staggering. The so called 42056 MOD hurts my eyes! And the whole hype is getting more and more ridiculous. I´ve decided for myself just to wait (save the money for at least 2 sets ) and give no more attention to the speculations. Sorry, I don´t want to offend anybody, just my opinion. -
@filiuS and others who have built the car: I feel kind of stupid now and have to apologize about having overseen the travel limiter missing in the building instructions! If the fragile section with the front lights falls off when the wheels are steered, it´s really bothering and fun killing. I don´t dare to ask Thorsten to update instructions again, but we will see what can be done. I didn´t notice it until I built the white blue version yesterday. I think I will gather some more blue panels considering the build of a completely blue car. F. Hartleys Pagain Huayra looks exceptionally good, especially in this color. The big problem is as usually the poor availability of blue flex axles. To bypass this issue I bought blue pneumatic hose, but unfortunately the color didn’t match at all. Finally I´ve got to make one of my 2 Sbricks work! I still don´t get why the other one behaves so silly and responds only sporadic and especially refuses to work parallel to the other. So I had to settle for the minimum option with 2 motors, 1 servo, 1 battery and LED lights. On the picture you can see how I attached it. If I had to install a PF receiver I would put it either this way. One of the biggest advantages of the Sbricks for me is the possibility to hide it somewhere to achieve a cleaner look of the model. Vengit (Sbrick operators) seem to have managed to improve the software. It´s running much more safely now and after the Bluetooth pairing which is still a problem sometimes on my android. Now I can go for a ride using the actual 24h LeMans profile. It has a nice extra button for switching the lights on and can be configured with other additional functions such as doors and hood opening which I will consider for my next model. Hopefully then both Sbricks will run smoothly together.

Usually it can´t happen that the movement goes so far as on your picture. The normal servo makes the steering rack travel by no more and no less than exactly 1 stud in each direction. The reason for your problem could be one of these: 1. The steering is not centered 2. Your servo moves more than 90 degrees in both directions which is not normal 3. You use an M- motor instead of a servo 4. the steering rack / gear setup is different A solution for the travel limiting could be the following: By the way: the first one would support a better Ackermann geometry. I don´t remember exactly, but probably I´ve used it in my last version. How big is your Lego garage ? Greetings to all BMW freaks! This weekend I´m planning to rebuild the models in the blue & white colors which I´ve gathered the parts for now (unfortunately without stickers). @ other builders of the BMW: I´m feeling guilty already of bumping this topic almost everyday. If somebody gets to experience similar issues with the build, please write me a PM, I´d be glad to help if possible.

Good solution for the receiver. Concerning the wheel´s collision with the headlights: does the problem occur on both sides?? From the pictures I have the strong suspission that the whole thing is not centered right! Then my tip would be: put in place with a short abrupt movement like the chiropractors do to dislocated joints (1 "click" - oops, this is "illegal" )

[MOC][WIP] Porsche 911

Nice promising build made in such short time, I really like it ! I would try to make a round shaped roof by using only beams, then use longer flex axles as C pillars going all the way through them. The long axles could be an issue, I recently was lucky to get some on ebay (found nothing like 16L or 19L on BL).- 29 replies

I hope it makes sense although I couldn´t understand everything, but if you managed to get it fit, it´s pretty fine . The black pieces in the BI are made of a rigid hose cut into 2L lenghts. I also have used the 4697b T-pieces instead everywhere. The first solution would be cheaper and look better. The steering wheels shouldn´t collide anywhere, except the panel above the front wheels when the suspension is pressed down.

This is very impressive! Now just a plane (around 30.000 parts) has to be put next to it ... While other people don´t dare even to dream about such a big vehicle with all the functions, especially the water cannons (!), you just went ahead and built it! More than 7.000 parts put together in one Technic model is incredible and although I won´t build it, I want have the instructions, 15€ is nothing. Thanks for sharing and for all the amazing priceless work!

Instructions by Jorgeopesi

Thanks for sharing and hopefully you enjoyed the experience of making BI. This machine is really cute - I need to get those wheels & some additional mini LA´s and build this immediately for my 2y old son! I know you are more in construction and everybody deserves to have his preferences, anyway I wish some day you would make a car again -

I´m glad you´ve said this. For me personally such "illegal" issues don´t exist at all. If a part works for me, it´s fine, the better if I discover a new way to use parts and nobody had "invented" it yet before. In this gearbox where the shifted gears are kind of locked by the mechanism, the smooth connectors work perfectly. Besides this I remember somebody complaining that the use of rubber bands for the switch mechanism is also "illegal". Now the new Porsche seems to use rubberbads too for this purpose. (EDIT: the use of smooth connectors instead of the ribbed ones has been "invented" a very long time ago)- 229 replies

Dear Holger, first of all thanks for building my model! I´m aware about the problem with the 3. receiver and got similar feedback from others, Sorry for that! I admit the whole section on the "passenger´s side" is a bit messy and kind of poor design, some improvements can be done here for sure. I remember last time I had built the model I changed the position of the receiver and turned it facing forward. At the moment I have mine disassembled, sorry if I can´t really help you. I hope you´ll fiind a solution and enjoy the model anyway, the more after the hard work ! I know you were one of the first who built it ! Such issues bother me too and guys like you encouraged me to make improvements in the building instructions, and there were made some already. But I can´t get why the wheels pull off the headlights while steeering, maybe you have to move them (headlights) 1 stud outward. If there still are such issues I´ll figure them out when rebuilding it next time and fix the BI. Thank you too for your feedback!

Cool supercar, you have talent! I´ve seen such headlights somewhere already ... Lol a bit though while reading about "effective control of body weight" , don´t take it too seriously . Would be nice to see a few more pics or video. Keep on! -
42056 - Porsche Speculation

One reason IMO is that kids nowadays get strongly used to enticing advertising, easy entertainment, “smart” electronics, slack education, etc. resulting in some sort of laziness or less creativity. Industry is breeding their obedient flock of consumers. Despite of the high availability of Technic sets including the big ones in almost every toy store and big supermarket in general I have almost the same impression as for Germany. I get to know like-minded people mainly through the internet. NXT sometimes is used mandatory in universities and this way some AFOLs are getting (re-)connected to Lego. We can say for sure that a dramatic lack of interest in STEM can be observed. Between 2005 and 2010 the proportion of employed STEM academics aged above 55 years increased by 34,1% in the German economy (Wikipedia). Back to the topic: the Porsche set is supposed to be a very good exhibit to get teenagers or adults back to Lego Technic. Very sad though that it´s not part of the toy fair in US, I really can´t understand that… -

I have read it here in this thread, written by some trade fair visitor, doesn´t matter. I cannot guarantee if it´s accurate, but for me it´s obvious - there are no indications for motors or whatever. Hopefully we get some new information and pictures so the speculations will end. The exhibitors have achieved their goal to get upmost high customer interest for the flagship. -

NO MOTORS or PF / BT stuff in there and something about 3000 parts - I think it has been figured out from first-hand and no more speculations are needed. But the free (?) color choice speculation seems to be reasonable - if it comes with various sticker sheets... -

Nice rallye car! You have copied the original "ugliness" spot on so it´s becoming really beautiful! The similarity is growing and I like the well worked bodywork already. Would be great if the front lights would open by function. And of course you should add some springs to the suspension, maybe use the big yellow shocks (?), it´s a big car ! -

Yesterday I´ve spent a couple of hours to rebuild this delicious piece of Technic design. I built the rear part with the gearbox to understand how it works, first not as shown here, but with the new driving rings and clutch gears. Side note: If somebody else is about to rebuild it, on the picture one 16 th gear is missing – the connection between the left side behind the black 12 teeth to the upper gears where the fake engine has to be attached. After adding the front part with the switching mechanism (including a tight rubber band which is not shown here) and the shifting levers, I soon realized it wouldn´t work at all. The main problem was the high friction on the 3L joiners and the new driving rings. To make them move more smoothly I did something “illegal” – I pressed the white joiners through the driving rings the false way, took them out and after this painful procedure they moved easier (nothing destroyed yet). But still the switch function didn´t operate well. The 2 red bionicle teeth went off again and again due to high pressure. Changing the driving rings finally did the job: the old driving rings in combination with the old clutch gears and smooth 2L axle joiners instead of the ribbed ones are the best and safest way to make this mechanism work. By the way: the new Porsche from TLC might include something very different and foolproof mechanism behind the "shifting pedals" to make the switching work with the newer driving rings. All in all it is very enjoyable and fun to play with when everything is in place as designed by Paul and really inspiring to me. Big applause again and thanks for sharing!- 229 replies

Not really fast, especially for the given heavy weight, but pretty enough for indoor what the PF system is supposed to be (enough to damage the car´s bumpers sometimes ). And obviously it´s not 4 x faster than only with 1 x XL motor ! It depends particularly on the batteries, the gearing and IR receivers (V1 or V2) . Here is a short video to demonstrate it: http://www.brickshel...wm4dtmsmall.mp4

Paul had a WIP topic ( http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=115835&st=0 ) where the working paddles were shown in a short video: https://vimeo.com/153777673 I guess we will get a new video with all the functions, no pressure on him.- 229 replies

I´m not sold on orange because I already can immagine how people would complain after a year or so how boring this color is. So if everybody can make a wish here, I also make mine: why not shiny SILVER as color like on the 8458 Silver Champion? For me then it definitely would justify the price, forget about motors or / and PF / BT stuff! -

Congrats to this masterpiece and many thanks for sharing! I like the overall shape and I´m in love with this sequential gearbox & smooth shift mechanism & nice working(!) paddles. It motivates me to try a build of a full manual supercar one day. You really pushed the limits and "MEGACAR" is the only word which can describe it!- 229 replies
