Bothan Spies had nothing to do with Episode IV's Death Star plans! Glad to see at least two face prints among the ITT Stormies; shame they're technically "clones" even if it's the new go-to generic trooper head. Still prefer Panaka's head for actual clone troopers.

Yes! Can you imagine if this came out 10 years ago? The cast would all be live-action kids and Snoopy & Woodstock would be CG like in the Scooby movies (only while Snoopy would be somewhat stylized, Woodstock would be a realistic CG sparrow with cartoony eyes)

Collectable Minifigures Advent Calendar 2014 - LDD MOC
Venkefedo replied to Yooha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's got a Star Wars helmet, a Star Wars pistol, and a Star Wars jetpack... How can it possibly remind you of a Star Wars trooper? I like the idea, but seems a little too on the nose as the Rocketeer. I know the clone helmet has the fin, but a smoother-fronted helmet like a Mando helm might take those features better. Really enjoying the series! -
Yep, the one Dragonlego27 is thinking of is this one which was only used in SW sets, and haven't appeared since 2011. It's a shame, since that's one of my favorite pistols; best option for the small pistols Rex, Bly, Star Corps, and others used; kinda disappointing they didn't use 'em in the BARC Speeder w/ sidecar and Phase 2 Rex. Greedo in the Cantina set absolutely should've had one of these pistols, rather than a copy of Han's.

REVIEW: 71008 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13
Venkefedo replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
You're thinking of Zoidberg, and many have already mentioned that... to me, it doesn't look much like him. Some postulated a Futurama CMF series given this head, but Zoidberg doesn't have the prominent cheekbones our little Alien Trooper has, and the eyes are all wrong for a Simpsons/Futurama style. He's a great alien for any Lego space-type setting including Star Wars, but requires more than a coat of paint to be a decent Zoidberg.- 104 replies

Why not just a flick-fire missile on its own? Or a plain light bley saber hilt attached to the light bley bar the set already comes with?

That's because the review was posted 6 years ago.

Agreed on both... while I don't have any of the AOTC Tuskens, they seemed perfectly serviceable. A 'crown' like Maul/Savage/TOR-Jedi-Knight have might have been nice, but I was never looking for a new head sculpt for them. And the existing AT-AT Commander-style helmet is just too tall for a proper AT-DP pilot helm! But I still like 'em.

I like that axe on the left... wish that store was still making 'em! BW's new Viking Axe is close, but doesn't have the simple Lego-ish charm of that one. Good group of DKs, nice use of dark gray. As a former WoW player I'm partial to their DKs... one of my favorite parts of Wrath of the Lich King was rolling up DKs, icy white skin, blue eyes, fantastic black & blue armor...

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Venkefedo replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Hopefully they'll be like the Sakaarans in the GOTG sets, one in each (or, at least, most...since there are more sets for AoU), and not limited like SW stormtroopers/DSTs have generally been. -
I like it, it shows off the quirky expressions (and Pau'an teeth) he adopts when taunting his enemies. As for the armor, it's bulky... but lucky for you, they printed it on his torso as well, so you can remove the armor and give it to some other figure, or sell it. I think he looks great!

It wouldn't do any good... while we don't know the full names of all characters in TFA yet, we can guess that at least one is the offspring of Han & Leia, and none of the likely candidates really fit the bill for "Jacen" or "Jaina" in age--or name, I imagine. They've got 30 years to fill between ROTJ & TFA with new, canon material... I'm hopeful that one such story will be a new spin on the Thrawn Trilogy, revised & rewritten to match the new canon, much like Marvel's Ultimate Universe tackled certain classic stories but in different manners that fit the canon of that universe (or Marvel's 616 main continuity revisiting/revising certain old stories to fit into the modern canon). So we may yet see Thrawn, C'baoth, Mara, Karrde, the Noghri, etc appear, but the plots may differ (ysalamiri might not fit in the new canon, and Leia likely won't be pregnant with twins during the tale). But it may be awhile before they get to stuff like that.

He may have intentionally given fake names to protect his identity! Also, the names may not be complete... someone suggested "Kylo Ren Solo" and "Kira Rey Solo" as full names But, likely, Finn & Rey's full names are unavailable because it'd be considered a spoiler, revealing families they're part of. Rey could be a Solo, a Skywalker, or even something like Darklighter or Antilles... Finn could be a Skywalker, a Calrissian, a Leonis, or any number of others. One or both may be unrelated to any characters from the movies, TCW, or Rebels. Someone did some legwork and found that there was someone named Dameron who did a biography of Edgar Allen Poe. Mark Hamill also revealed what had been rumored before, that BB-8 is actually a practical droid--not CG!

That is an amazing screw-on head. Great assortment! The angry Infearno-armored guy may be my fave, but the guy with the Hun hat is right up there, too... And that feather duster! Neat!

I mentioned awhile back that it'd be great to have another "Sheldon dream" or something, where they use the official minifigs as the basis for a Lego Movie-style animated dream to address some dilemma of Sheldon's, like how his Mego Spock spoke to him in Nimoy's voice, or how he dreamed up Professor Proton as an Obi-Wan-style spirit after he died. I'd love to see that, but it probably won't happen...
-
Agreed on the expression, but it's a very nice build! I'd love an official set with Thrawn, Mara, Karrde, a Noghri... I would just hope it's not based on the comics, since they basically ignored the (admittedly limited) descriptions of the characters from the books. I have a rough 'decal' design I haven't touched in months sitting on the computer at home, of a stern red-eyed Thrawn face... still need to get clear labels to print it, and perhaps upload it!

Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar 2014 - Got yours?
Venkefedo replied to markw's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I forgot to open today's, so I've got something to do when I get home! I'm a tad disappointed the Snowtrooper is the old-style, while the Hoth pilot is the newer one... tho it's just another snowtrooper to add to the ones I already have. Guess I'll have to get a snowspeeder and an AT-AT at some point! -
Yep. Just because one isn't happening doesn't mean Lego "couldn't figure it out"... they may not have tried to figure one out for UCS, certainly not one that has all the playset features it might require while also having the silhouette/'look' of Cloud City from the outside. That's something best left to MOCs, and I'd wager most who attempt it will only be able to fit one or two 'scenes' in the interior. Hoth/Jabba's Palace-style sets are the way to go... the exterior is largely meaningless (balancing it would be a challenge in itself), it's the interior scenes most of us want, I think.... Carbon Freeze chamber, Vader's revelation to Luke, maybe the smelting room, the dining room betrayal, etc... trying to stuff more than one of those inside a Cloud City exterior is just asking for trouble.
-
It came up a couple months ago... some employee at a Lego Store or something mentioned there was some big set on the way, Death Star-sized, in the new year. Nothing else has really been heard about it. But I hope it's not Cloud City; I'd rather CC be handled more like Jabba's Palace, multiple sets that fit thematically together.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Venkefedo replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's the joke! -
That's the general consensus, tho having it located under Puerto Rico is a bit weird. Could be it's some pre-Attilan Kree city established on Earth ages ago and abandoned. In any case, they've done about all but say the name "Inhuman" now... And using the term doesn't need to be saved for the movie, as the movie will likely focus on the "royal family", which don't necessarily even have to appear in AoS for Inhumans to be introduced. But I will be overjoyed if a certain giant teleporting bulldog makes an appearance. Marvel gave us a taking raccoon with a machine gun and a dancing Entling, and made the general audiences love them, so Lockjaw should be no problem.

I imagine Ultron will be too big for SHIELD to contend with. We'll see the fallout, maybe, but I think they might be pushing to have the season wrap up before AOU happens, and then reference it next season.

Very nice scene, and nice FP reference

Wow! I love this! And he's only, like, one eye too many and a couple horns short of being a Warcraft Ogre Mage! Where does this giant gent roam? I love the bandolier, the boots, the dangling skull, the club, the earring... so much good stuff. Wow, again.

Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion
Venkefedo replied to just2good's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Toy Story That Time Forgot should air again on Sunday, on either ABC or ABC Family Nope! I love that thing! I thought the special was a lot of fun, but in addition to my usual cynical "Eh, the actual toys won't be nearly as cool as the ones in the show" reaction (going back to the first Toy Story; the old big Buzz Lightyear's 3 colored buttons were all one panel rather than individual buttons activating specific phrases, he had no karate-chop action, and I don't think he even glowed in the dark, and most of the smaller figures had sculpted lines denoting points of articulation, but usually only had 5 or so POA), I was also a little distracted by the fact that the kid got a top-of-the-line video game system, game chair, games, who knows what other gear, on top of getting an entire action figure line, including playsets and many extras of the army-builders, all enough to fill an entire gladiatorial arena, and each of them nearly the size of Buzz & Woody (plus the giant one that could comfortably ingest both Buzz & Woody), with nearly all of them sporting 12+ points of articulation (even the Cleric has a few points on his neck assembly and at least 5 on each arm). Every time I think about that kid's Christmas haul, my estimate of the price goes up. Buzz Lightyear alone generally costs, what, $30? $40? So Reptillus Maximus would cost the same. The Raptorian Guards each probably cost $20 minimum as they'd perhaps be similar in size to a Marvel Legends or Star Wars Black 6" figure. Playsets with electronics, all the other characters, the video game stuff... that's likely $1500 at least, probably over $2000 if you put real-world pricing on 'em and totaled everything up. The Battlesaurs looked amazing... but I want that to be a real toy line! Not just the low-POA ones I see in the Walmart ads!- 279 replies
