Just go to a theater with reserved seating and enter the room about 10 minutes after the advertised showtime! But you may have to avoid the trailer elsewhere first; newer rumors are saying the Hobbit is too small; they're eyeing something bigger, and perhaps earlier. Whatever that means.

I still haven't sprung for it, but I kinda do still wanna grab it to use with my Orc Forge. The Orc Forge is a bit less ramshackle, but color-wise it seems to work with GKB to expand a Goblin Town (perhaps even with Troll Mountain Fortress). I'm not terribly crazy about the Goblin King or his minions (in the set or in the film), but do at least wanna get the dwarves.

Even the most recent Jurassic Park dinos (TRU had 'em over the last few years) had that dino-damage... ugh. That's what I want, dinosaur toys with exposed bone & muscle.

That hairpiece is great! ...for Doc Ock, or Guy Gardner, or...like...certain types of monks. Decent for Lloyd Christmas. But not really ideal for Howard, except from a front view. I'd also prefer Larry the Barista's hair. That piece could stand to be used more, so bring it on!

Yeah, I didn't think many, if any, of the summer sets were really known yet.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion

The Monster Fighters' Frankenstein's Monster! That'd be another great head to use with this olive-eared hat. I've already got one of those heads with some Moria Orc hair/ears on it for some sorta half-orc-type fighter among my Castle heroes. -
None I can think of. Remember, they can make up their own stuff on these shows.

Neat! I missed out on all but the smallest little dino in the 2012 Dino theme; shame there are no triceratops in evidence, so far, but I'm thrilled to see so many raptors, and the Rexes look wonderful. Let's get some herbivores in the mix!

Which face? You've got the two Imperial officers, the sideburns one from the new SD set and a mustachioed officer who's probably Admiral Ozzel.

The Star Wars universe is big enough to tell loads of stories without already-familiar characters. KOTOR became a huge hit without a single character from the films.

The CMF Cyclops and SW's Kithaba have olive green heads, too... Both would probably look great in this hat! I particularly like the thought of some Kithabas wearing the hat to make em another species of goblinoid. Came wait to see the full thing! My own custom TCW Weequay goblins could use the company -
Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Venkefedo replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
The TRU I hit this morning didn't seem to have them (and I didn't have a printout to scan; their scanners don't work on my phone, unlike Target). The only promo listed was for a TMNT poly with $30 purchase, which they didn't even have on the floor anywhere (despite the signs saying "bring the free item to the register with you"). As for a possible Spidey set, with that new CMF Goblin hat there's no way they aren't planning a classic Green Goblin. -
I still think the PT Jedi were far duller than anything TCW threw at us, but it sure seemed like everyone loved the clone-centric episodes: The Deserter, the Domino Squad episodes (at least we can take solace in the fact that Echo would've been revealed as having survived the Citadel arc were the show not canceled), the Krell arc... even the very first actual episode, Ambush, was pretty clone-centric and worked nicely to give them some personality.

They aren't! "LEGACY" is a Star Wars comic series from Dark Horse; the EU, including Legacy, had been rebranded as "Legends". It's to show that it's at apart from the new official canon, the new EU.

Community was on NBC, usually directly opposite TBBT's timeslot. While its characters weren't the nerdy stereotypes of TBBT, there was so much pop culture nerdiness on display in Community, and particularly thru Abed, the one real nerd they had... Community turned its D&D episodes into pretty epic things, whole TBBT's was only okay, but with a couple good jokes, and dredged up the tired old "girls don't play D&D" stereotype. Community's paintball episodes were also great... Many of their theme episodes were fantastic in their ridiculousness. It's got a lot more layers, rewarding viewers with an eye for detail and/or repeated viewings, plus there were anime scenes, a stop-motion Christmas episode, an 8-bit video game episode, and a GIJoe animated episode among other fun stuff. Definitely worth checking out! A Lego Ideas set based on it might be even more "boring" than TBBT's living room (the Study Room doesn't have nearly as much geeky things going on in the decor, usually), but official minifigs of the group would be amazing!

Agreed... hilarious and endlessly infuriating. Watching enough of the show, it's easy to see why Parsons has won Emmys for his performance. His reaction to getting Penny's Christmas gift of a linen napkin signed and used by Leonard Nimoy is priceless. I would totally buy a Lego "Community" set, too, as it's the truly nerdy show of the two. Only an uber-nerdy show would spread a Beetlejuice gag over multiple seasons, and have it pay off with a blink-and-miss cameo of someone dressed as Beetlejuice walking by in the background, viewed thru a window... and the Halloween episode, come on! Nerdapalooza. TBBT is mostly 'mainstream' nerdity compared to Community, but still fun.

The EU was a mess, particularly during the Bantam era where Dark Horse & Bantam weren't totally in sync (setting Dark Empire a year after the Thrawn Trilogy felt ridiculous; "Horray, the New Republic is victorious against Thrawn and his fleet!" "Oh crap, we just lost Coruscant and are now calling ourselves 'the Rebel Alliance' again because of some gigantic fleet from the center of the galaxy that made Thrawn's look like nothing! And Luke declared himself a Jedi Master! And Leia declared herself a Jedi Knight! And she used some ancient dusty lightsaber from some weird vanishing crone, forgetting she had her own lightsaber Luke built for her!" Then you had Bantam playing hopscotch with the timeline, jumping back & forth with each book, finding every little gap it could to throw in some galaxy-threatening adventure. And Leia waffling between making competent progress in Jedi training, only to be sent back to the beginning in the next story in the chronology because Politics & Parenthood must always dominate. And a million other things... at least when Del Rey came along, after Zahn cleaned up some of the mess in the Hand of Thrawn duology, they had more of a game plan... a sequential series, followed by a trilogy, followed by another sequential series, etc. Far less hopping around, except maybe within the Clone Wars time frame (I skipped all those books), and so far less need to retcon things (tho reading about how they worked in Luke & Leia finally learning more about their parents, from R2's hidden recordings, seemed painfully forced, because it happened right after ROTS was released and everything was finally fair game to tackle--but I didn't actually read Dark Nest myself) For Chewie, however you received the death, it's largely George's fault. Del Rey wanted to raise the stakes from the Reset Button Happy Endings of the Bantam era, and George sent them a list of characters they couldn't kill, leaving Chewie off the list. And while the execution may not have been the best (tho I remember it written fairly well), stepping outside to look at it feels kinda epic: it wasn't some blaster bolt or minor scuffle that took Chewie out... it was a planetary body, which he roared his defiance at, after saving dozens of innocents as well as the Solos he loved. It took a moon to kill Chewie, and he was yelling "Come at me, bro!" the whole time. Despite it all, I still enjoyed and loved much of the EU. The Thrawn Trilogy wouldn't have been a great movie Sequel Trilogy for several reasons, but still felt much like a good Star Wars story, if a little too techy and perhaps a bit too reliant on movie callbacks (thematic, situational, dialogue), and certain character quirks (Lando saying/thinking about 'the heavy end of the hammer' all the time). I'd love to see it animated as a DVD trilogy, akin to how Marvel & DC (mostly DC) animate various popular comic stories, where "canon" doesn't matter and different styles can be explored. But I'm also glad they've got a tighter game plan going forward, now... no longer is the continuity team just putting out fires, attempting to 'fit' everything together retroactively. Now they can help guide it a bit. I'm confident we'll see plenty of material to cover the decades-long gap between VI and VII, but I'm not sure when we'll see it... if VIII and IX are meant to have surprises on an "I am your father"/"There is another Skywalker" level, then we might not see much until after the trilogy's complete; but if VII is where most surprises are revealed, or it seems like there's a chunk of those decades that are 'safe' to play in, we may see something target those (perhaps the first several years following ROTJ)

Yep! Basically any two sets will do... and Sheldon being Sheldon will preclude him from choosing both.

REVIEW: 75056 Star Wars Advent Calendar 2014
Venkefedo replied to Ritz Brick's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Looks like it should; the vertical edge of the tunic seems to be in about the same place, there's no belt bleed-over, so I don't see anything to stop it from working. -
The Geonosis eps of TCW were while the clones were still in "Phase I", I think... there were "Galactic Marine"-esque flamethrower clones, ARF troopers... but no Airborne or Phase II regular troopers. With the Kashyyyk set, the "scout" Kashyyyk troopers were present in the film, while the camo-colored Phase II troops just sorta 'fit' by being sort of a midpoint between the 'scouts' and Commander Gree; very little was seen of the battle, after all; who knows what was riding around inside the Turbo Tanks or on other battlefronts on the planet? The Geos, tho, are a year or two out of step with the ones actually depicted in the show, presumably long after the war had moved on from Geonosis. Semi-related note: I love ROTJ Biker Scout helmets, but despise the Kashyyyk "scout" helmets. The proportions and aesthetics are completely out of whack, and it's evident in the Lego version as well... I mean, it's a nice sculpt, but the 'lens' of the visor is printed sooooo high, because of the movie's screwy proportions! I do wonder what the helmet would look like in white, with a black visor & details printed on, as an ROTJ scout, but I'm not sure the Lego proportions would work. The old ROTJ helmet mold needs to be retired, tho, or improved with some printing.

One reason TCW could hop around a bit is it was using a lot of established characters; Yoda, Dooku, Obi-Wan, Grievous, Anakin, and many Jedi were known, so hopping around wasn't too jarring--it was giving more insight into those barely-sketched-in characters, and taking some risks with those we didn't know, like the Rookies. Ahsoka was tied to Anakin & Obi-Wan initially, so her development was there--in later seasons especially she got more 'solo' stories, and it worked out nicely. I think Rebels will, ultimately, expand; it could be fun if Season 2 threw us a curve and we're suddenly following a different rebel cell for much of it, building up new cells every season with Bail and others slowly trying to gather them together into an alliance. But ultimately I think the Specters are the main focus, and will remain so while the world slowly gets built up around them; once they encounter other rebel groups, or even Bail more often, maybe we'll see some branching episodes focusing on different characters. From what I've seen so far there isn't really an overarching storyline, but they could be building to one; Marvel's Agents of SHIELD kinda did the same in its first season. A Hydra moment mid-season, like finding out Sabine or Zeb were actually Imperial spies, would be insane.

I think Luke will be killed off...eventually. I'm just pulling more for a Yoda-style "old age" ending, whether it happens in IX ("I'm not that eld") or, my preference, in the probably-inevitable Episode XII, set another 20 or 30 years later. Luke's power in the Force might keep him looking only 70-something, but by that point maybe the galaxy and the new Jedi heritage is in a good place, and he'll feel like Gandalf, Frodo, etc--his job is done. Time to join his father, teachers, friends in the Force. IX would likely be too soon for that. It can even happen between trilogies, maybe, so he's just used as a Force-ghost in the next set. Many expect Han will go out in this one, partly because of Ford's old idea of just having Han not be saved from carbonate since he'd just sacrificed himself and Ford didn't see anywhere else for the character to go, and partly because they think that's why Ford supposedly has a larger role in the film... lots of screen-time before a big sendoff. In any case, I tend to lean towards a "happily ever after" kinda end for the OT heroes, but something will happen, at some point. As for Indy... he needs to be turned into James Bond. Time to recast, and set some new adventures back in the 30s and 40s, not remakes, nothing even really clashing with the others... just good old fashioned adventure by the name of Indiana Jones. Regarding other Force users like Kanan, Ezra, Ahsoka... I think by series' end, Kanan might die, sacrificing himself to save his friends sometime after finally becoming a full Jedi Knight (wouldn't surprise me if, over the course of the series, Yoda gets in touch with him and helps him out a bit, giving him a "...then, a Jedi will you be" kinda speech, foreseeing that Kanan may not survive some upcoming encounter--which, for all I know, could be stealing the Death Star plans just before ANH begins). Any others may survive, but may not be fully trained (tho it's also very possible that Yoda isn't as omniscient as many think he is when he tells Luke "last of the Jedi will you be"; could just be Yoda didn't want Luke passing the buck to another Jedi just because he didn't want to kill his own father). It's possible that whatever happens with Luke spooks him so much it causes some sort of catastrophe within the Force--not like the dark-side stain that caused the imbalance of the PT, but something that maybe causes the (brace yourselves!) midichlorians to become mostly silent to those who can feel the Force, so most other Force-users besides Luke suddenly have their abilities severely impaired for years, but maybe the villain still hears the call, and is seeking out Luke to try to reawaken the Force for the villain's own ends.

Hmm... a Star Wars 3-in-1 "Creator"-ish set maybe? Tho it'd have a lot of unused parts, I imagine, for the squint & advanced models. But throw in a pilot, Baron Fel, and Vader and some red stripes to add to the squint, and I'd be all over that. I also like the idea of Bail as the book figure! He won't be full-on ROTS style (unless he puts in another appearance this season, but in a different outfit than Droids in Distress), but might still help boost sales from some movie fans... ...but Jedi-Bendu has a good point. Could simply be Cadet Ezra, with or without the helmet (the figs usually don't have extra accessories, so maybe without... "buy the Phantom to get his helmet!", Lego will say)

I don't think anyone can assume the Thrawn Trilogy will remain untouched and part of the new canon... for one thing, Leia's not having twins named Jacen & Jaina. Sure, some of the new characters may be Leia's offspring, but I'm not sure we'll get twins, male & female, both meant to be 25 as VII begins (if it begins exactly 30 years after ROTJ), but I am hoping for a reference to some sort of "Thrawn incident" happening between the trilogies (according to most rumors, Luke only goes 'missing' about 10 years before the ST begins, so he'd still have been active in the galaxy around the time such a "Thrawn incident" may have occurred, 5 years after ROTJ). Another thing: we do not know that Luke fell to the dark side and was redeemed. That was Dark Empire, and while a fairly decent story on its own (at least, the first mini-series was), it was something of a train-wreck for the rest of the budding EU, and not a great tie-in with ROTJ ("I'll never turn to the dark side"...) especially with the reasoning of "I must understand why my father turned to the dark side". Uh, why didn't you just ask his ghost after ROTJ ended? Like, once the party had died down, go have a chat with your Ghostly Trio and fill in some blanks. Or ask R2, he was there for about everything, and never had his memory wiped. All the rumors say are that Luke's state, light or dark, is somewhat ambiguous when he's encountered... but come on, it's Luke. They're not gonna Vader him. Doing that would be too much like Dark Empire, which would make it not an original story, something they've claimed from the moment VII was announced.

Rebels is a fine show, no slower off to start than TCW (and folks who've seen next week's episode online already say it's the best yet, and a multi-part), "TFA" might make a lot more sense in context, much like TPM did (whatever you thought of the film, the title did make more sense after... AOTC, not so much), the stormtroopers only look depressed in Lego form; in the show itself they look like slightly McQuarrie-stylized OT stormies... ...and the bulk of the canon isn't being ignored at all. They redefined the canon to "movies & TCW, and everything new being produced & published from A New Dawn going forward". What they're ignoring are the lower tiers of canon comprising the previous EU, now classified as "Legends". I'll miss a lot of it, and continue to hope pieces of it work their way back into the canon via Rebels, Marvel's Star Wars comics, or other new books/shows/films. What about the Clone Wars? One of the few things that bugged me, clashing with previous Clone Wars material, was Quinlan Vos' personality; I didn't care to read any of the Clone Wars-era books that had been published before TCW began, so I only had the comics to go by which were uneven at best (due to lack of communication/cooperation with LFL, which is why clones besides Alpha-17 only got names in Obsession, and only a comparatively few issues of the comic featured clones w/ colored markings before ROTS hit--and even after ROTS hit, lots of clones were 'plain' in the final REPUBLIC issues and early Dark Times issues). There was also Genndy's cartoon, which was a ton of fun and had some terrific animation, particularly the duels and Anakin's starfighter battle before he chases Ventress (hey, look, he IS a great pilot! Wish the movies demonstrated that better!), but were also wildly over-the-top in many respects, and hard to seriously integrate into 'canon'. TCW also probably miffed people with Bariss Offee's turncoat status, and the Mandalorians, but it took the SW Atlas writers and others very little effort to integrate the pacifist "New Mandalorian" movement in amongst the preexisting True Mandalorians/Death Watch rivalries; Traviss just overreacted, tho perhaps later RC books I didn't read would've painted a different picture that would've been retconned out. In any case, TCW corrected a lot of problems the pre-TCW Clone Wars material had, again largely because ROTS was still in production & very little was relayed to the creators & editors of the material that could've fleshed out the direction of the war. Sad as it may be, starting with a fairly blank slate might be the best way to go; I wouldn't have minded just massaging EU stuff to fit it in as official canon, but too many fans would've either hated that because they just hate the EU as a whole on principle, or because they wouldn't accept anything less than 100% faithfulness to EU chronology & details which would be viewed as very restrictive to newer creators.
