As frustrating as it is to discover that parts shown in standard mode are not readily available to buy, this does not necessarily mean that they do not exist. Some were made for Master Builders at Legoland Parks, and I believe this is the reason they appear in LDD, though this will not offer much comfort to those who want them to complete a model. I heard that there's a Swedish bloke who made something nice to find out if you can actually buy all your needed bits, but from my own experience of building a database and trying to find out what is available (and affordable!), I wouldn't blame him for maybe being fed-up. Something new would be SUPER though.

Coming up to the first birthday of this thread, I have decided to ruin it with my presents. There were times when I wanted to ruin it much earlier, but I procrastinated so much that eventually the reason for my intervention got banned, whoops. I shared in that reason's frustration even if I didn't share the reason's methods of expressing it. My own choice of expression at the time would not have been useful AT ALL, so I refrained. Now we have this nice situation where the sense of relief is like being recumbent on a hot beach deckchair, sipping an exotic drink out of half a coconut. The holiday will probably end sooner than expected, but I want to post my booking information anyway. Here's my confirmation that my plane will be taking off at some airport somewhere in the world, and it might land somewhere else. Names (and some stilted sentences) have been edited to protect The Gnac and his shame. Shane did nothing wrong.

Technic General Discussion
Gnac replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
At this point I would like to make a contrary mention of set 6753 - which includes a string, hook and reel that are not used in the A model, but included solely for the sake of functionality in the B and C models - and add that even LEGO cheats sometimes :B -
There might be one in the future if I can ever psyche myself up to let that part of my collection go. I'd like to think that it adds a bit more to the overall value, and they don't take up much storage space anyway.

Does anyone know this panel?

The Porsche also has it in- *rugby tackled by Jim* -

Gnac replied to D4VEW557's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
LDD most likely uses the two distances in studs from the bend to each mounting hole. Bricklink seems to derive the 6 from the distance between the mounting holes. -
Hey great, maybe I'll eventually be able to see photos on there without getting kicked to that that Panda page.

Do not do this at home
Gnac replied to Phantom59's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Just dropping it from 10-15cm was enough to significantly weaken the connections in the wishbones when I tried it. Too much shear and torsion forces on them. That's why I completely rebuilt the axles when I decided to motorise it: So stiff that the only remaining problem with the model was having the diff tear itself to bits. -
soft axles shape
Gnac replied to nerdsforprez's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Noice, I'll have to try this with the dark stone grey 11M ones I have. They're made of a much softer material than the others - those can usually be made a bit straighter just with some aggressive counterbending. -
No more errors. Great stuff, Boney!

It appears that the forum software doesn't like the change very much. This appears at the top of threads which include at least one hidden post; the message gets repeated according to how many hidden posts there are.

Aww yiss, looks like I can darken the LDD index again, now that a load of on-hold stuff can be finished. -
Odd Technic Questions
Gnac replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I often wonder if Fiat hire their designers from outer space. That's the only explanation I can come up with for the Multipla. It's no surprise that a quick Google image search returned no results for one of those things made out of Technic. -
Odd Technic Questions
Gnac replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Not only do I do this with real sets where possible (couldn't do it with 5893 without removing the PF winch), but I have been getting away with it in the LDD index for years. -
Survey - LEGO - Time, Money and Space
Gnac replied to Paul B Technic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Got stumped on the first question, sorry -
These old motor bricks are pretty good for various upside-down japes. Four of them are used on my Brambley Aero to make the air intakes, and they allow a 6x8 plate to be placed upside-down to make everything gapless. The front and back also have upside-down plates, thanks to some more modern SNOT bricks like these.
