  1. Take photos as you build.
  2. Various Technic parts - particularly beams, axles and pegs. Stuff like this seems to be the newest target for knockoff sets. I imagine it's a result of having limited space to add the logo, since these are pieces that rely on having large contact areas, a random raised logo could be a source of friction.
  3. TLG lists the new WeDo parts as "LPF2". There's a fine line between being scared and concerned, and right now I am a little more than concerned.
  4. More classic stuff, but no daftness in the preamble. 6. Service packs! A handful of chrome gold 24T gear wheels that we will treasure and abstain from ever using.
  7. I wanted these to be the first index contribution of the New Year, but The Gnac's body wanted to make loads of snot instead, which meant being too tired and grumpy to do anything. On this occasion, we have (most of) the rest of the Creator 2016 1H stuffage. See the guff at the end for why this isnt everything. Imagine a settee coated with rusty copper wiring, complemented by contiguous furrows of stolen human skin. Then imagine this settee festering on a rubbish dump because it features rectally-threatening springs bursting out from its flammable foam cushions. Booo! Somebody else can do the Brick Bank, and it's nothing to do with that new 1x2x1⅔ SNOT brick. * I WILL actually apologise for the lurid images I may have put into your mind if you related to this. I am SO SORRY.
  8. While I am interested in a "bagger"-type machine in any scale, I am also totally okay with a trencher. Also, considering past discrepancies between leaked set names and what we actually got (hah), the "speculation" bit of the thread title appears to have survived the misdirected assassination attempts on Jim and resulted in some sleuthing that may prove to be correct. Slow-boiled detectives, pour yourselves a Camus.
  9. It seems like it would be best to arrange the minibuilds around the spinner then, seeing as the inventory suggests that they can all be built at the same time and serve a function in the "main" set. Here are all the builds with the supplemental instruction pages anyway - I'll also add this link to the post in the index after I finish all my current things.
  10. The ranges 30471-2 and 31047-8 + 31050 are getting done, and some other treats are in various states of readiness. EDIT: this stuff will be delayed because I am drunk and angry and there are more important concerns when those things happen at the same time Question for Calabar and anyone who wants to throw in ideas: 50004 - Story Mixer is done, but I'm not sure how to treat all the microbuilds. The instruction booklet shows standard steps for the spinner, while the minibuilds' construction steps are shown arranged radially on two supplemental sheets which are presumably separate from the spinner's instructions to make them available to the game's players. I'm not sure whether to treat these as separate builds (there are about two dozen) because of their "on demand" nature, or arrange them around the spinner as a "scene". If I do the latter, they will all be at weird angles to look as nice as possible, and I dunno, maybe people would use this stuff and might want it all orthagonal. TL;DR: should I keep bullying Calabar or not
  11. Some time ago I stumbled upon this prototype image for 4402 - Sea Riders. I don't have a story for it though. EDIT: I think this is where I stumbled ALSO: There were two Creator polybags that missed out on physical releases, with only their instructions allegedly available for download. This actually happened for a few things between 2005-2011, but only the Truck and Airliner's digital instructions got lost for some reason.
  12. http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/TECHNIC-ByTheme I can see 'em just fine - that's how I got the price for the Drag Racer on page 87. Maybe your interpipes are clogged with cookies?
  13. Better than expected! For something with at least £17 of tyres.
  14. I didn't feel making a whole new thread for what is essentially a 5-minute mod, chronicled by pictures taken with a potato... but here is my attempt at making the Gingerbread House look like the comfiest thing! The multicoloured transparent 1x1 plates all needed to be replaced with yellow ones (clear and orange would probably look nice too) because the other colours blocked the light. The younger version of me was fascinated by Cinemoid and Perspex samples, so I should have anticipated this. Oh, here's the mess inside: The mounting points for the lightbricks are provided by a sort of Middle Manager, which also keeps the door shut. The lightbricks' buttons stay pressed in thanks to the plates upon which the roof gables are built, but some simple additions were necessary to push down the button for the back window. Some lightbricks needed to be opened up to have their contacts bent out and allow the buttons enough prominence for this to work; resulting in the "resurrection" of some faulty ones which were having delusions of being strobe lights. Save a lightbrick today! Or send it to me.
  15. I recently received a 70644 metal crane hook for £12 as part of my mad quest to build my own Ultimate 42009. I also got 8109 for ~£90, which, while too average a price to be a bargain, does provide some needed parts for the U42009 (and other sets that I want to reconstitute). There was also a nice surprise a while back. I finally got myself the 8070 I've been lusting after. While £98 isn't exactly a super price, it did come with an unused sticker sheet and some weird extras: a PF IR Remote - instead of the known missing battery box - and a complete extra set of wheels with black rims, for some reason. Both are things that I would eventually want to buy anyway, so that was pretty good! When I consider the outrageous individual costs of some of the parts in this haul (metal hook, 3x11 yellow panels, red #3 angle connectors and toggle joints), the overall value looks much better.
  16. And there was me thinking that the Drag Racer would end up at around 40 quid. I wanted to buy two. Now I'm going to be looking at about £70 just for one, aren't I?

  18. Try ([EDIT] clearing your cookies and) logging in on ReBrick; it uses the same authentication server, but (apparently) a different web frontend. I've had a right sod of a time with clearing (sometimes specific) cookies and discovering that I couldn't even log back in on the main or Shop sites, but for some reason, ReBrick worked. Maybe the Ideas subdomain is also "unique" like this. Someone in the important leather chair needs to notice that things are bolloxed and diverting sales elsewhere, and also be interested enough to ask us poor plebeians what we're going through. Because seeing people have such issues for so long is actually beginning to look a bit cavalier on LEGO's part.
  19. Parts in obscure and obsolete colours (bright blueish green / bright violet) live in their own tub with a load of outdated moulds and all such as black 3M pegs. I can't stop thinking about buying more things to fill up this tub. Also thinking about what I'm going to do when the tub gets full. And having the limits of my headmeat tested when I finally realise that I'm never going to use these parts and want to sell them. I could say I'm hoarding these things to reconstitute some old sets for obnoxious eBay auctions, but I hate that scene.
  20. I have to put any parts that look weird under UV light into their own NAUGHTY BOX. It's currently full of piston heads.

  22. The range 31040-31046 (Creator 2016) is currently in the middle of doings. I'd normally have this stuff done yesterday, but I just received a second-hand Technic 8070 and I couldn't resist building that instead.
  23. Everything gets poured out and sorted into ephemerally categorised pudding trays because I like to part stuff out before building. This probably decaheptuples the time taken for the whole process between busting open the box and 'MIRIN the built thing, but it means I don't have to do some future rummaging through several bins of parts when planning to build a MOC that requires the bits from it. 'scuse the verbosity, this happens when I drink wine.
  24. I heard a rumour that the bodywork can be lifted, but not where it's hinged. Only a lurid imagination (and someone not under review embargoes) could suggest where this enigmatic extensible element might be.
