  1. So I'm rebuilding 42043 at a leisurely pace, and I thought I'd tackle the modules out-of-order, beginning with the most troublesome one - the Grabber. And ya kno'... I really enjoyed it, damnit. I was patient enough to do a neat job on the hose routing the first time, but now I had the opportunity to stuff everything in a bit better, while avoiding hose kinks completely. I even got to test everything with a manual pump from 8436 - I'm tempted to properly integrate it into the final build.
  2. Oh lawd I'm suddenly interested FOR SOME REASON Think of it as a luxury parts pack!
  3. I was disappointed that Speed Champions ended up being closer to CITY / Minifig-scale than Creator / Racers, but this is an opinion I rarely mention. I don't feel cheated that it wasn't what I expected. As such, I don't have to worry about gaining a reputation as "that member who always complains about speed champions not being what they wanted".
  4. I had something similar with an X-POD from 2006. It's most likely a bad manufacturing batch. Three out of four 2x2 plates, darker than all the other blue parts, all crumbled like biscuits when disassembled. EDIT: the set was bought in 2012 from a US seller, but it was sealed.
  5. I'm rebuilding EVERYTHING lately, so I'll reserve judgment on which model I enjoyed the most, but I am absolutely dreading 42009 because I'll be pulling out all the "crap yellow" parts for potential replacement. Those of you who display / build stuff under fluorescent lighting will know exactly what I'm on about here.
  6. Developer mode is almost completely useless for builders, except for the 3D axes which show the grid origin (just above the wheel at the bottom of the viewport). DON'T DO DRUGS, KIDS
  7. I suppose I'll be doing the Creator stuff then. Specifically 30474, 31049, 31051-31053 and that 40221 fountain thingy.
  8. I just wanna take it home. Plant machinery should not be this cute.
  9. Pretty nice ideas, and having just rebuilt some motybikes myself recently (8420, 42007, 42036), these features are really conspicuous by their abscence from the latter. Further to what Appie mentioned however, the engine rods would be too floppy to work for the foot controls as they are, but the handlebar levers do actually work, though the method reveals itself as an LDD bug because the peg doesn't "snap" properly and would be in constant compression*. The foot controls can be done with the dark bluish grey axle/peg things in place of the 3M stop axles. They have just enough friction to hold them and allow some posing. Alternatively, take a look at 42007 to see how the handlebar levers and foot controls are done there. * Definitely worth reporting in the bug thread, that one.
  10. Wagh, time to chuck out all your pegs
  11. Agh! That explains why I was able to pull the images for the new rim and the exclusive 1x4 tile, but not find the actual part info. It never occurs to me to check that section since I'm usually only interested in buying loose parts. Cheers!
  12. Do these hawt rims have a Design ID anywhere on them? Despite the inventory already being up on Lego's server (fast!), the rims aren't included or even listed.
  13. Woah these bits have never been in snot green before
  14. Look on page 152 at the dark bluish grey beams with the red pegs - particularly the one on the other side of the assembly - and note how many holes away the blue 3M peg is. Those DBG beams may need to be repositioned.
  15. Vertical uses of beams vs. bricks can also look a heck of a lot better aesthetically. Then there are certain applications where the smoothness of the beams allows functionality that would otherwise make some assemblies much more bulky (e.g. bricks with tiles), if not impossible. See the truckbeds from Technic 8109 and Creator 7347 for example.
  16. I would go for the 42038 and 42040 just for the value, parts selection and the whole having two things instead of one. If the 42039 had standard green parts I'd already have one, but as it is, I might regret not having one if the bright green parts selection expands significantly in future. Orange and white seem to be safer bets in this respect. Get them both and show us a tracked arctic plane!
  17. Such as these, apparently (CLICK THE IMAGE UP BIG)
  18. Loadsa "new" parts just got added! And of course, they're all out of stock. Well it's a start :1
  19. What triggers Poe's Law for me would be the sand yellow panel with the RAF roundel sticker and some of the very large plates, which show that they owned a Sopwith Camel at one point - not an easy model to build. Maybe by "recycling", they mean donating to a charity shop or day centre.
  20. I'd be really interested to see what a Racers revival could look like with all the new parts that have appeared in the 4-5 years since the theme was put to bed (particularly the Tiny Turbos and Technic-like stuff), but I think Speed Champions is making that one rather unlikely to happen.
  21. Aw nice, they fixed the "loose connection" issue with the gear racks! They really care about us!
  22. I found my 8297 A model on there a while back. The groups and errors in the model are exactly the same; they just moved the camera, re-saved and reuploaded as their own work. While I can't claim ownership of the model, I did spend hours building it, and it makes me a bit sick to see the comment "Please take a look at my other creations". But wondered if it'd just be a waste of time to bring it up. I've made hundreds of things here and I really wouldn't be surprised if most of them had been re-uploaded somewhere. There's nothing I can do about it, and not a whole lot of point in getting stressed out. It's making me reconsider retirement from the index though. A few years back I used to make free website software, and I found that other people were lifting entire blocks of code right out of my work and putting it in their own software without a proper understanding of how the functions worked, so I just stopped. They also stopped releasing updates, because they no longer had their own coder.
