[SR - March FB 2] Fort Crimson, Haven
Garmadon replied to kaiju's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Excellent fort there Kaiju, the dark red and brown go very well together, and I really like how the fort resembles a ship though it is still clearly a defensive structure on land! The lanterns next to the door and the use of those rowboat-hulls are my favorite details, and the rendering helps the presentation tremendously! Keep it up!- 5 replies

There are already an awful lot of pinned threads in this forum so I doubt that this will be pinned as well. If you ever need to find it there is a handy link in the Master Index (third post in the "Welcome to BOBS" thread)

Excellent micro-ships KB, the masts/sails and cannons would be my favorite details here, but the hull shaping on the vessels is definitely very nice as well! As to spending that much time to put together such a huge stretch of water, all I can say is wow! - and it turned out superbly!

The Sea Rats petition for a member on the Court of Technical Licence Upgrading and Getting Rid of Unwanted Ships has been approved and the honorable pirate Dr. Spock has now been added to the commission. Yes, the sales court/prize agency/"get rid of your unwanted captures here!" thing has been approved of as well

Go ahead! What I was saying is that it hardly makes sense to pay in-game money for things that are out of the game (that's the reason he would need to licence it first - to put it in the game) However, despite that, I'm not sure that there's much reason for the rule either, but you'll have to ask Ska as (at least as Kai told me) he had stated that it could not be done before

March 9th, 616 To Captain Jno. Cooke Thank you for accepting the post on the naval judges' bench, may your job be easy and your pay high! (Disclaimer - nothing was ever said about any pay, btw - plus, you're already rich ) Your (humble ) suggestion as to a prize court has, erm, not been thoroughly scrutinized yet, but we shall be getting on it! From the Supreme Court of the Brick Seas, or at least this here member of it Good day in Cocoland! E.T. Wilkinsons de Chauncourtois

By definition an unlicenced build (ship, in this and probably most of the other cases in which it might be an issue) is outside of the EGS, and a build outside of the game system cannot be sold for in-game profit (hope that makes sense) In most cases it would not be a problem if the spirit of the rules is respected, but it is simpler and better to stay within the rules by following the "transaction, licence, sell" steps I posted earlier

Garmadon replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice build Kwatchi, and its great to see a lawful and respectable Sea Rats establishment! My favorite detail here is the SNOTted masonry bricks around the fireplace, but the Tudored walls and baking process are shown excellently as well! -
Very nice ship and very funny story LegoStone, hope you can get a good deal for it! One note about the auction though - technically you cannot sell unlicenced ships. However, once the auction is closed you could have the buyer first send you the money to licence the ship, then licence it, and then sell it to them at the price you agreed on, and then they will be getting the licenced ship
-
Alright, the leaderships decision on over-licencing is a no. That would mean that captured ships could not be upgraded (except possibly under the MOCing the ship and the upgrading process clause later on), so if you have captured a ship and it absolutely won't work because you need a larger one you will need to auction/sell somehow the licence/ship and buy a larger one. However, upgrading to the correct licence for a ship (up-licencing) is allowed. In order to upgrade a ship which has been already licenced you would need to state when you first post the build your intention of building the licence up to (fill in the blank). Ships that are already built and under-licenced will be reviewed on a case by case approach and need to receive an approval that it was actually under-licenced the first time and that the new licence would be appropriate. If they are up for it, a commission of Bregir, Maxim, and KB judging about currently (possibly) under-licenced ships would be what we'll go for (unanimous approval being the requirement). After what we have now is sorted out, though, the "you must state the licence you are planning to build up to when you post/licence the ship" rule will be in place. Exceptions to this rule may (possibly) occur, and with an actual MOC of the ship being upsized it may be eligible for a review by the commission of ship judges Hope that answers all the questions here!

Very nice little ship, Captain B, the banana figure-head is hilarious, and that lantern in the back is very impressive indeed! I do think a bit of tiling would improve the build, and the sail would look much better (though I already do really like that wheel on it! ) if you could get it to stick out a bit more. It's great to see more Eslandolan and ETWC ships though!

Very nice entry and great outpost here, the roof is particularly neat, and I like the additions of the leaves and cat up there! A few tiles mixed in with the sand would improve the look generally, as well as tiling the stairs and base of the outpost, but this is a good and neat entry overall! -

I'm with Ferro Azure as well - as far as I can tell the majority are for that, no? If so that will be the name we'll go for As for Island #5, I personally like Doubloon. No one else? I thought we were all supposed to be Eslandolianderians?- 780 replies

Titus is correct about the 12 approvals (it sounds like it would be 4 DBs but don't quote me on that, I haven't checked the list in a while!), but the other problems you have you can ask to be taken care of through the Adjudication Form You should probably list what your freebuilds were so that Ska can have an easier time checking it

I'm afraid that if you want a safe way to build up your fortune you'll have to become a landlubber, sir! The subject of over-licencing and upgrading previously under-licenced ships is being discussed by the leadership, so you can hold your horses (ships? ) a bit while it is being hammered out- 897 replies

Ska has already responded to your question on the sizes of licenced properties - but I thought I'd mention that unlicenced builds in a settlement also go into the property count

Excellent build Captain Flint, your style works perfectly in Avalonia! Beautiful landscaping, and the vines creeping up the tower are great as well!
-
Beautiful build KingGregus - wonderful job with the colors, and the wall and gates are very impressive and convey the feeling of enormous wealth superbly! Fantastic work with the interior as well, those stables are particularly excellent (the olive roofs work incredibly well!) Can't wait to see more from you here!

True - but the ETWC has a good deal of control in the Old World, and the king is not really that happy with what grew out of his last granted monopolies, so that only adds more in game reasons against it Anyhow, overall Blackdeathgr is completely right Oh, and congrats on your new title, Bregir!

Precisely - any vessels captured by the crown's escort belong to the king, any captured by individual builders or trade companies (though I believe that currently no trade companies as such own any ships right now, correct?) would belong to them. It is entirely up to the king and leadership what will happen with the vessels it captures - so don't go and build a Class 2 ship expecting to get a free licence from Eslandola if you don't ask and make a deal first

As stated before, monopolies are currently limited to the two starting Eslandian trade companies, and there are no plans afoot to grant any more. I suppose in the very far distant future another trade company might possibly get a monopoly, but I wouldn't count on it and rather doubt of it happening

Not mine (I don't suppose)! That's one good thing about not having a lot of ships out there just yet, I guess! Thanks for all your work again Ska!- 897 replies
