  1. I'm sure many FOLs who love elf MOCs would be happy to see some new female hairpieces. However Farran's hairpiece looks odd--- are his ears real or just painting flesh on the Sleepyhead? Great characters design, we're able to see some calm and wicked expressions for minidolls finally. I like the boat and the two other fantasy scenes look great too. Wish that there could be a bigger building set in the next wave if Elves succeeds.
  2. As predicted there are Gail's headgears reused, though not seeing Emmet's ones for unknown reason. Also, nice to see a progress of gender ratio. I especially like the new generic villainess face. The Swamp Police Station is a good thought (neglecting the overrated police system), but I think it lacks some jungle and river pieces to highlight what the station looks like in the box art. My question is why there is still a "racer" set classified as City set while TLC is reintroducing a licensed vehicle theme. Of course, that is a motorcycle set, but it seems like TLG is not planning on getting licenses of famous motorcycle brand. Perhaps every licensed motorcycle needs a new outer case mold and that doesn't benefit?
  3. Interesting. But not sure if my memories went wrong, are visible force ghosts only exclusive to force sentients? There seems to be no standard answer.
  4. I don't deny that possiblity, but this saying is after all "uncodified" since it's not clearly written in references. Before it's clearly written and allows us to criticize, there is no need to say that rule must exist. The main factor is LEGO's own property. It's more about reconstructing the exact buildings or scenes from the stories, and the characters are not always the stars. Meanwhile, other previous major commercial products of "Disney Princess" lacks of the need of involving the stories or subcharacters, since they're mostly authorized image or individual character dolls. Well, other companies have done "doll houses" too, but they mostly made to be imaginary houses (for example, a place where all princess's having a party which never exists in films), while the LEGO line clearly focus on reconstructing the buildings from the films. Again, if the rule you meant truly exists, the conclusion is just that this franchise doesn't really suit LEGO. The only problem TLG themselves face now is the diversity of minidolls, since more licensed characters would need more compatible molds with the minidolls. The blame is laid on them if they really intend to skip/neglect things to save the costs. The fact is, the amount of characters and products is the major weakness for this theme for now. It's not praising-worthy no matter who is responsible for this.
  5. Haven't get used to the new website. I can't see pictures in character portfolio. Some other changed names are Geisha, Scuba and Pharaoh. I guess Shakesapeare and Lincoln removed the ban and allow us to see more historical beings in the future. As for LRRH, that name seems to be too long.
  6. Already got series 6 in my area. So does animal packs are the part of LEGO shortage?
  7. Great to see an admiral lady instead of a damsel-in-distress this time. But I expect more than one female pirate (the only confirmed one appears in the Skull Island). The pirate kid is also a good addition. As for the general sets, they seem to be an update versions of earlier sets, as much as the leaked names showed. I wish to see some Pirates sets involving cultural or fantasy things (like the mermaids appeared last time). But maybe TLG try not to make it similiar with PotC or The Little Mermaid.
  8. Of course, the commercial products for girls are usually doing less with violence/fightint. Romance and hobby had played a very minor role in general LEGO themes (excluding Belville), so it's actually nice to have these in girls' theme. The problem is referred here because this is a licensed theme. Fighting scenes do exist in original film stories and they're also responsible for how these films became famous classics. Unless the fighting part is too minor to talk about in a certain film, I think it's useless to neglect the fact that "the stories feature violence". To me, if it's just that TLG don't think girls could be interested in fighting, that's another stereotype. It'd be nice to see LEGO playing an educational role to highlight the tough heroines, not to say that Sleeping Beauty is a pretty typical damsel-in-distress thing. As for the sets so far, I dare not to say TLG intend to skip fighting. The only missing villain is Gothel just because she lives with Rapunzel. But if TLG ask girls to buy their hobby sets to play adventure stories, that's kinda...... confusing?
  9. Pretty agree with that. I think there could be a female vulture warrior as Eris' competent rival. Though the two lioness in one set are unexpected, I think every other battle pack could also include two guys + one lady. The work on beavor is lazy, of course. I assume TLG regard them as none-fighting tribe and that wouldn't appeal young consumers even if they get new molds. It looks like a cartoon fanservice like Dareth's case, but it doesn't work at all.
  10. For the Aurora set, I think it's pretty similiar with some bedroom decoration sets that TLG made for Friends heroines, not to mention it's exactly what the Duplo version was, so this doesn't really surprise or dissapoint me. I think the tower battle scene could be an actual set, but not sure what would TLG choose to do if they're planning a big set for Sleeping Beauty. The issue could be that two small sets and two castles (that might not be big enough for historical FOLs) doesn't seem like a big wave compared with other licenses. Making it worse, minidoll sets usually include very few characters unlike the amount of characters DC JL sets are going to include next year. Also, we can see some more large figures for DC sets so there's no excuse why TLG can't make Rajah and snow monsters, I assume. Judging from the previous TV ad, it feels like TLC want us to make rather than allowing us to reconstruct the exact scenario from the film (where subcharacters and villains are necessary). However unlike Avengers or JL, "Disney Princess's" doesn't own any TV or film series that allow kids to imagine their interactions. I'd suggest LEGO to introduce one or two System sets for Sofia the First. As for the faces, I don't have a good eyes so I can't tell. I think the four new heroines all have new faces while Alana's looks like Olivia's. The problem could be that they don't have veariable expressions to show personality. The TV ad above did actually show some interesting faces I want to see in the sets.
  11. I'm abit surprised by TLG giving all heroines exclusive hairpieces. They could just give Aurora a blonde Emma hairpiece instead (well, though she would just look like another Heartlake resident as result). I wonder if these hairpieces have a chance to appear in generic sets, unlike LOTR dwarves whose beards are too specific for generic citizens. The lack of King Triton is a mistake. Well I don't expect to see him, but his problem is just same as Gothel--- their best chance to appear in LEGO sets is their own residences. It doesn't feel like they'll get another chance if they don't appear in these sets.. Oh and btw, Alana's hairpiece is different from the leak version. But I think Will Turner's hairpiece could suit her more. You don't have to be surprised since Cinderella's sets already provided too many mistakes for animals (including that Horse Jack). I can see Apu represented by a recolored Juliet/Rome. It feels like TLG isn't really working hard on the animals who aren't mascot-equal and are simply normal animals from the real world. But this is a shame. The animals have been the beneactors of Disney films and they deserve better. As predicted I don't think we'd see more than one characters in the two small sets. But there is still hope for Phillip and Aladdin in the next wave. Another fact I care about is Jasmine's skin color. Yeah, the tanned flesh is very accurate for her, but I mean Tiana from P&F who should have the darkest skin as an African heritage. Would we see the very first dark skin minidoll in this case? (Or it could just be a minifigure, that's pleasant .)
  12. I feel abit overwhelmed and confused by lots of new faces whose origins we can't determine. We know there are jungle people (likely) but the others also look like updated versions of Dareth some amateurs who also just learned elemental powers, which can also cater to that saying. Just wait and see what's their specific roles in the next season of cartoon story. But if they're really fillers, I'd be abit dissapointed with still no Misako and Julien so far. As for Skylar, the interesting part is that this name appears in several fanons and feels like TLC do want to make some fan service (though on the other hand, the plot writers don't use more Japanese-like names for the main characters for unknown reason). I'm not really a fan of fanons, so I hope TLC can make her/his backstory interesting enough in order to differentiate from those fanon girls. Though being on of the FOLs who hold that wish, I think the main reason is that LEGO has already done enough jobs with the previous male ninjas and they don't really need another heroic guy to seize their spotlights like what Lloyd did at first. So a girl might cater to their need of a new ninja.
  13. Cute exhibitations! Can't wait to see more of your series. Costumes are not just for fun. Just need another Dorothy . Love is unrealistic, literally.
  14. Personally I'm in love with the characters, but there isn't enough power to make me get these at any price. The exclusive faces are really genius and up to every FOL's expectation. In a very narrow sense, the Double Decker Couch is not a complete set, but after all TLM is a special license, there is no need to complain. Also there isn't really a good way to represent the final scene as a regular set. Regardless of exclusive prints, these sets are all what we have seen in previous two waves, but it also seems to be the best we may get. Unfortunately it looks like we may not expect another regular wave before any other future LEGO film sequel. The submarine has its technical difficulty, but the western houses is really a shame. Also the Cuckoo Hall. It could also be nice to put some exclusive characters. Both Demolition Guy and Robot Wyldstyle could be good, but cost parts.
  15. Thanx! Now since Mr Oky is busy making magnificent Exo Suits, I'll continue with some Hobbit things. Nothing wrong or funny in this family photo. Move on. Grandma Visitor would eventually be taller than this hunter. Wands are pretty common in another world, sadly. Seriously LEGO, STOP IT!!!!!!!!!
  16. It seems to be late, but just found an old pic of LEGO Rock Band which had a non-physical design of castle princess (which was not based on the Fantasy Era princess):
  17. The pic shows a transparent rock panel previously used in SH, Friends and Chima. The crystals, sticks and walls have also appeared very frequently, so in general there are no Belville parts returning. I do like to see them reused as a part of any hitorical material. Well that's negative. Skully from Duplo Jake appeared as a print last year, and fortunately he comes with a mold this year. Olaf is a pure mascot in this case (though looks like he'll only get a head mold). If TLG only qualify animal characters, the most tragic cast would be Beauty&;Beast because there are tons of non-animal mascots (the second trgedy comes to seven dwarves). Oh and BTW, in this leak Elsa'a hair is purely blonde like Rapunzel and Stephanie, which doesn't look quite accurate. Hope that there would be a lighter blonde for the rubber piecese, or it'd rather be white.
  18. Uhmmm... maybe it's because TLG don't make too many Asian characters for unkown reason, and Terracotta is a historical heritage just like Lady Liberty (also a creative twist), so this might have a better chance more than real army. Thanx! For my Space Merchant, it's composed of three major parts from used CMFs. An alien selling merchandises to all known Space CMFs (both good and bad side) just for $.However supposed that people can't understand this pic at first sight, I guess it's not working. Better need opinions.
  19. I don't think the animal set must be related to the previous polybags. Foals have been pretty common in regular sets. If TLG seriously want to introduce an "animal box series", TLG still have to introduce new molds for larger animals (like elephant cubs) and those would cost even more, which would really please me :p.As for boxe sets, I personally don't see the need of a subtheme because animals have always been part of the Friends line since beginning, though I like the new box highlight. I like the variety of animals, and so for other FOLs out there. Some animals from arctic and safari could still have chances to be used in other sets if TLG is willing to. Well, the previous LEGO City Arctic seems to follow the realworld rule so penguins and polar bears don't coexist. It could also be that LEGO turn their investment to their new themes Elves, which also come with animals. If both make profits again, the next polybag series would return eventually, and maybe there could be Elves' own polybag line.
  20. So there is the 2015 discussion thread. I don't think that horse set is considered to be part of the set. It's mainly like that there isn''t any major horseriding set in the next wave, but TLG still want to sell a horse.I didn't hear about the future waves. Since TLG launch another theme Elves coming with new or recolored animals, we will definitely see more animals in the future.
  21. Not sure if this topic better fits in Commity or Culture subforum since it only talks about the influence of this theme, not LEGO sets. I personally think it wouldn't. Without the artworks and toys that relate to LEGO, it could have been a stereotypical ninja sentai that don't even cater to the younger generation. Even though the newer seasons are getting better stories, without LEGO it could have been cancelled during the very first season. Like Aanchir mentioned, CN saw the potential of Ninjago due to their success in the very first season of LEGO sets. And if it was a license owned by other animation studios and LEGO wants to find an action license, to me TMNT and Avatar might have better chances than Ninjago. I personally think it's that TLG wanted to introduce a ninja theme that can be popular enough among boys but it doesn't have to rely on licenses. In Agents' case, LEGO could also introduce a licensed subtheme like S.H.I.E.L.D. (much to Marvel fans' dismay) but they don't due to commercial reasons. About the theory of building, we should also remember it's that the story helps kids relate to the vehicles and characters. If TLG just randomly threw us a green ninja and Overlord, we can't understand the idea. It's indeed similiar with the licensed themes, the difference is that LEGO animations already planned to put LEGO products in the story, while not all license owners already have plans for cooperation with toy companies at the beginning. That means, many of the NInjago vehicles could have never existed if Ninjago wasn't a LEGO property. Friends animation series so far doesn't tell too much brick buildings (though this series sometimes refers to "creation"). It's mostly like a showcase how the characters utilize the LEGO buildings in their daily life. Besides, this show mostly use a viewpoint of realworld rather than a brick-built world.
  22. Well, is Elves a new brand of underwears? I think it's been discussed before. Minidolls were developed mainly for attracting girls so the themes using minidolls are, too. But we all know that LEGO isn't something exactly for a certain gender, you're allowed to play LEGO and not be restricted by the default purpose of that theme (unless you're underage). Friends was at first a good reminder that girls can be into System-scale LEGO, but it's stupid to say "you have to choose certain LEGO sets judging by your gender".The difference between Friends and Elves is that Elves seems to focus more on characters than buildings. Friends buildings are compatible with City and Town, while Elves are more independent in its own style, and the characters are less like army builders. This trait is pretty similiar with Ninjago and other action themes. With that said, unless the Elves characters become quite popular and wellknown like MyLittlePony franchise, this theme could be a natural "no" to some FOLs (especially boys) who are not into both minidolls and MOCs.
  23. Yeah, looks like there could be some sidekick elves with the main ones. I thought the male elves are using the Sleepyhead but they're not exactly the same due to the ears. It also feels like some other hairpieces are familiar. Could it be that TLG add holes to the existed hairpieces and insert seperable ears into them? True, but that means LEGO is indeed able to introduce a pegasus character. I also miss Buckbeak very much.
  24. 1. Cheerleading Guy 2. Cattle Guy 3. Groom 4. Monk 5. Muse 6, Violinist 7, Gardener 8, Tribal Princess 9. Trapeze Girl 10. Woodoo Doll 11. Nightingale-like Nurse 12. Hotel Waitress 13. Big Bad Wolf in Grandma suit 14. Dwarf Villainess 15. Qin Terracotta Soldier 16. Space Merchandiser
