  1. Having been keeping up with CMF series so far, I don't really collect all CMFs and I never feel obliged to. Every series has highs and lows, and series 14 is not an exception to me. I'm really excited to get some Halloween costumes. In the case that some people don't like a ceartain theme, yes, LEGO does put all eggs in the same basket. I'd doubt LEGO's strategy but don't deny that there are nice figures in the results
  2. Looks like my local stores would put them on the shelves right on March....... really expect to get these.
  3. (Okay, just kidding ) I personally think this topic belongs to Culture & Multimedia forum since no set discussion involved. But I still leave a comment. I haven't paid much attention to the Oscars in years, too. Not to assume that the judges are careless donkeys, I recognize the efforts of the creators. If there is a reason, I agree that The LEGO Movie still has a heavy sense of commercial advertising. This movie has difficulty in appealing audience who aren't fans of toys even if they go nuts for cartoon. The message behind the theme could also be unable to be received by the judges. I'd like to know if there is a possiblity for any future sequel getting an award? LEGO cared nothing about that movie so it could be a LOSE-LOSE too. :p
  4. Indeed. Time to fulfill my promise. Once bitten, twice shy. Only if she knows how to let herself go physically, not just mentally. Sadly, they soon find a replacement for their club. LEGO encourages us to create a story between Disney Princess's only. Here is an example.
  5. Hi everyone. It wouldn't be surprising to know that I keep working on things other than the Friends minifigures. As a continuation, I begin to work on other themes that originally use minidolls as their main character representives. Some of the Disney characters are iconic and popular over decades, and as result, many adult fans alongside with kids keep their love for the Disney icons. As long as minidolls are more for, mainly girls, and the younger generation, I believe some AFOLs would like to see some Disney minifigures. So I give it a try. Currently I haven't made all Disney characters from the current range due to process reasons. I only show some occasionally after completing any of them. And BTW, this thread doesn't have to be exclusive to my creations. If anyone could come up with a better version, sharings are welcome. Elsa from Frozen Anna from Frozen Prince Charming from Cinderella Ariel from The Little Mermaid Alana from The Little Mermaid Eric from The Little Mermaid Jasmine from Aladdin Merida from Brave Aurora from Sleeping Beauty Group shoots
  6. Sadly it's just so late and it's been six more seasons after the very first and only two sets. Could it be that LEGO already predicted the probably unsuitable-for-targeted-kids ending of the seventh season? I always think the artworks for both characters, buildings and vehicles fit in the LEGO world but are also different from our current range. Although part of the Asian and elemental power might cause conflicts with LEGO's own Ninjago series, it's storyline has great depth for both girls and boys. The show is done, since a third generation is unlikely happening. The other possibilty is to see a remake version (as theatrical animation, no, not the live action one.....) in the future. Spongebob is another disaster. I'm sure LEGO Out Of Water sets work better than Ninja Turtle ones in most aspects.
  7. Uhmmmm... beautiful, well done LEGO! New Cinderella sets please. Directly speaking, LEGO simply just want to use the two previous set to be the promotional products for this film. It's difficult to comment on this, honestly. I don't really expect to see another TMNT nightmare, though the characters might be less cartoonic and are easier to be the references for minidoll designs. To me, it's actually okay to use classic sets to promote the action live version, however, it seems like LEGO put Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella in the wrong order for their production year. They should know the theatrical time for both films after their actual time for designing Disney Princess sets.
  8. I pretty agree with that the Elves' designs work better with minidolls rather than minifigures at this point, despite there have been minifigure elves. Just based on the interview mentioned long time ago, as long as LEGO chose to do the "human-like" figures, they must compromise by giving up some movabilities minifigures used to have. Perhaps the problems would got solved when TLG come up with minidoll 2.0. I agree that minidolls don't have the diversity it should have as minifigures have. So far the minidolls system is more interested in more kinds of lower body mold for general teenagers but not the others minifigures had (armors, accessories, short bodies). I'm actually abit sad to see that these diversitile minidoll bodies can't be mixed up with female minifigures (who can still only choose either legs or 65slope as their lower body). I also believe that the bendable miniskirt mold could have been introduced for minifigures so that minifigures can look as girly as they could. Generally the princess line and the elf line indeed do good to the original Friends supporters because they finally have something different to create their MOC character or enlarge their minidoll army. The particular issue could be for those who intend to like minifigure/minidoll more. Some FOLs were ready to get a Cinderella minifigure and later were dissapointed to see her minidoll form (reverse is the same, some might expect to see Supergirl as a minidoll at first). When the brand advertising and storytelling are more successful, the theme-figure type restriction causes the bigger problem.
  9. Same old topic, I guess. One of the main argument was that whether LEGO figures should ignore or emphasize the individal difference of human bodies. Also this saying could be wrong, because when it comes to the licensed characters who are based on images or actors, their toy representives would make contradictions (example, Black Widow versue Emily Jones, who should be the curvier and mature one?). There is no standarad answer for this. Sadly we haven't really got to see this image from any of LEGO's major marketings. Minifigure Online is one thing, as for TLM and LEGO News Show which should represent a general world of LEGO, they simply screwed it up.I don't mind to see minidolls and minifigures talking together if LEGO agree to do so. Or at least,I always believe that any of the minidoll character could be represented as minifigure in official media. Why not? They look almost flawless
  10. Cyrus Borg comes to my mind in that case, although the show didn't clear say something about his disability and no traditional wheelchair was used. Some other pirates or criminals that use artificial arms are all the same case (unrealistic technology, fairytale or folks). This leaves the last realm of ordinary City people. In LEGO world it would eventually crash in two conditions, one is a possible licensed key character that needs definite accuracy, the other is the minidolls system which was meant to be more accurate than minifigrues. Though I think we haven't met big problems in both cases.
  11. Does phtoshopping help? Although not sure if the inner ware is only for girls.
  12. Just in a general view, .it has a very big chance to be rejected due to license conflict. But at the same time it's also a proof to show LEGO that they could have done Frozen as a 2013 product line. Hope that LEGO can make more Frozen sets (as an imdividual theme series) to fulfill fans' need. Personally, I think this project creator waste a chance to make it pass by changing the characters from the official version. Although the snow monster is great and the castle is amazing, I think he could at least add Kristoff/Hans/army and change all of them into minifigures. As long as the targeted girls mostly got Elsa as minidoll, they would less likely want to obtain this set.
  13. The problem with this is that, if they're not visually recognized enough, kids who don't watch this show would just consider them as flesh version of ordinary town minifigure pack.HP and LotR are easier cause they can include some fantasy characters or army builders that kids would also like.
  14. I'm not really a loyal TMNT fan, but not to be offensive, as long as the TV series won't give huge changes on the main cast or the storyline, ithe necessity for us to see renewals in 2015 is just little. At least, it'd be nice to see this license come back later. Also not criticizing the movie itself, I'm not really a fan of any theme with two versions that require different sets of molds. The production cost could be used for Casey and the others.
  15. Ignoring Disney license or actualy figure design of disabilities, a Literature Series could make sense for these. My guess has another Pumpkin ghost (reused from Scooby), Lake Ghost, a Japanese version of ghost. I can see your idea, but the torso wouldn't be a new one as result. She might come from somewhere like Monster High to compete with the human teams. The Red Cheerleader was rather a right timing for this hair..... though LEGO should at least give a different old mold.
  16. This concept rather looks like something Megabloks Barbie has done with their figure system. For LEGO, it's often bothering that Andrea's lower parts isn't exchangeable with the others. Probably how the mission gets updated if this game is still running. Congrats on Nya!! Probably how Wyldstyle got her wild style. How all those Friends characters came from. Probably also why Wyldstyle changes her name from time to time . A gift pic for the Chinese New Year this time.
  17. Borrowed from Brickset: It reminds me that the previous cartoon episode also showed a private jet, which the girls took to go to the jungle last year. Its pattern design is different so I think it wasn't the reference for this set. I assume that TLG put their most effort on Tour Bus,......... uh, I mean there are some possible restrictions? And I don't actually own any LEGO plane. Is any City plane compatible with minidolls? BTW, Amen for Jacob . Though Matthew had more clueless appearances in earlier sets, he has actually becomes Olivia's someone in the storyline so he seems to redeem himself. But it rather looks like that Matthew was a better replacement for Jacob?
  18. Maybe Lord Business's hairpiece works for that :p. Speaking of hair, there's another color variation for the Ariel style in the backstage. Did Livi learn her taste from Agent Caila?
  19. The hotel is great as predicted. As for the rest of regular sets, the skate place idea is great and would be a good scene for CMF collectors to use. As for the popstar series, I can see it's both inspiring and attractive to young girls. However I don't think the dressing room is useful enough for town MOC FOLs. Among them, the tour bus is the best one for me. I feel like something is missing, and I find out that there are no other sidekicks in Livi's tour? The possible upcoming cartoon story is enough for us to know how the main Friends befriend with Livi, but we don't really have to see all of them in physical popstar sets. The lack of manager or supervisor makes it abit unrealistic. I wonder if this could mean a future licensed theme featuring an idol. Most licensed themes are actually the counterparts to LEGO's own original action themes, while the rest are cartoon and anime franchises. If this works, some other Disney's original drama like Hannah Montanna could get LEGO sets too? Offtopic, it's abit ironic that Livi isn't the actual first LEGO postar character, but Gwen. However her theme doesn't allow her to own at least a small stage to perform .
  20. It does look like a wedding dress. At least, more than the random one from Heartlake Shopping Mall. I can see this, and I don't deny there are obvious female fanbase. My point is that its main product doesn't relate to the major girl market and I'm not sure the female fanbase are also consumers at the same time, so a new theme with female protagonists is predictable. I just hope that it would reach Ninjago's popularity one day.
  21. Uhmmmmm baby dragon? A good surprise for fantasy FOLs. However the "new" owl looks abit unnecessary since we could still see the HP owl in Heartlake High and it's not that outdated. I'm also not very sure about how the "roadsign" building along with the sleigh works. This might need explanation from the story.
  22. LEGO is really devoted to Junior, huh? I really wish to see Sophia in System scale with the other princess figures, but I'm fine with these stories. Would Mickey finally get a more standard shape this time?
  23. Well, I mean that we don't really expect any accessory for boys. Not sure if we'll see any unconventinoal use for that hole. I'd say it's actually difficult for Ninjago. Even though they could add more female roles for both stories (Chima: more female animal tribal warriors / Ninjago: one female ninja spot for the original team), the fact is both cartoons are visually occupied by lots of vehicles which hardly interest girls. At most, they can only add several female key characters in later stories as compensation.I think girls mainly enjoy seeing hand-to-hand fights and are interested in character relationships behind the Ninjago stories. Just hope that Elves would also show some magical fight things, if opponents exist. Remember that license themes need to recreate the characters with accurate molds, while LEGO can decide how the subcharacters from their own stories look. They're not always the same.I didn't get to see the whole cartoon story so not sure if there are more elves living along with the main elves? LEGO could just deal it like Friends and Chima: add alternative colors to the Elves hairpieces, which could represent the same origin of tribe. Some old elf headgears could also give good varieties to this theme. They could had done that with Friends, I assume.
  24. I just wonder what's the use of the hole from Farran's hairpiece? Great review for 41076, I'm now really eager to see my local release. In the comparison with Ninjago or Chima, I think the main issue is that girls not only lack an adventure theme, but also a longterm and well-develpoed storyline that would receive attentions and discussion since both of the previous TV series weren't girls-friendly enough. Just wish that LEGO writers would consider to bring it further.
  25. The castle and the sleigh are rumored to be a summer release. not along with the spring wave. As for the figures, Friends was a easier case since it's a wonderful building source for town collecters and figures could be secondary sometimes, however Elves is more about the characters(figures) like some other action themes are. I think it's indeed difficult for girls to create their own story outside the box via collecting other themes if LEGO doesn't encourage so.
