  1. If you're not allergic to Friends, Sunshine Ranch and its tractor could be counted as a new farm subtheme. The only and major problem is that Friends overfocuses on raising pets (not livestock) rather than agriculture things (except tree fruits).
  2. Yeah, much like that. At first, Vanellope isn't a Disney Princess mostly because her story is innovative and not based on any folk. For TLG if they want to focus on "normal princess story", Vanellope isn't their first choice either. Though Vanellope's case is similiar with Jasmine, who wasn't the leading protagonist in her original story, Ralph is, uh, not a counterpart to Beast after all . However it doesn't mean that Wreck-it Ralph isn't worthy of getting any LEGO set. Both it and Frozen deserve to have own independent product lines.
  3. Don't worry, Jafar an evil genie or genie villainess could be a feasible choice for future CM series. They'd really fit in red bodies..
  4. Uh, one reason why Friends was criticized was that it could have been a good source for female figures to make up for early gender inbalance of modern City figures, but as result it mostly doesn't. Despite we can still take the parts and accessories, the figures still seem to be a kind of waste in disguise. Some MOCs are okay, but that wouldn't change the main advertising of the theme. Unless minifigures would also be involved in this theme.I think CMF series already prove that FOLs and boys do welcome elves/fairies minifigures, though some minidoll variations would be interesting too. If this theme is very Castle-like, it would be like what Friends has been these years. On the other hand, maybe it has very own unique figures or buildings like Chima, so we wouldn't tend to mix the figures or parts for other uses. This could be a pro or a con, because maybe not all Friends fans would love this.
  5. Nice to know that there would be two bigger sets. But wit Ariel's set being the largest, I wonder which characters would be in that set since Prince Eric isn't available: Ariel's sisters? father, daughter? or Ursula? As for Elsa's set, judging from Cinderella's example, I worry about that we won't see all main Frozen characters and mascots in one single set, not even talking about a molded reindeer people missed from Santa's workshop. The chance could be bigger with a second Frozen set.
  6. If this rumor is true, my question is why TLG didn't directly use Tinklebell license as a substitution, based on the fact TLC have introduced Disney sets instead of bringing original royalty themes (Belville and Duplo Castle princess's) back. It would be abit similiar with Winx's license from Cobi. The possibility is that TLG want to make a girls-oriented version of Chima, which would come with an enclosed backstory and a new TV show to market. It's a risky choice, but generally more themes or girls is a good thing. Still, the major debate is same with Friends: do TLG really focus on marketing girls-oriented themes along with other traditional major themes and try to overcome the difference of figures? If they just miss the mark again and again, I think they really waste the creativity of new themes. Yeah. Since Disney stories have involved many different kinds of historical elements, it should have been a nice chance to get some historical or imaginary cultural buildings. Scottish castles from Brave for example.
  7. Same here! Can't wait to see these two physically.
  8. Wait, City just opens one and another police station. Friends is much better than that. Friends does have good excuses because they didn't say there are only one or two stores for girls to shop. Also, since Friends was made to make up for City, we can move some of the stores to normal LEGO City or a MOC town. But yes, the trend is worrisome because the 2015 rumors so far are mostly about remakes (others are City and Pirates) and it's really like TLG just want to sell it to younger girls who just finished their Duplo time last year. Optimistically, we've seen the possibility of some subthemes, so it's possible to see Arctic or Exotic adventures in the midyear. I'm also curious about why TLG don't introduce some story-oriented sets based on their TV show series. Excluding Jungle sets, it feels like that most Friends sets are still like generic scenes rather than promoting characters and stories behind each of them. I agree that it'd be weird to have more animal clinics, since Aunt Sophie, one of the recurring adult character, would be getting a competitor. Unless it's just that Aunt Sophie rebuilds or expands her clinic and she is still the only vet in town. Oh wait...... where are the clinics for human? As for the topic of "Heartlake City", I'm curious about whether we can see some public buildings of Heartlake City. That used to be City's business, but since LEGO City is devoting to their Police system Heartlake City is now regarded as an independent administrative region , would we see Heartlake City Hall or Heartlake Police Train Station in the future?
  9. Hey, don't give up hopes that easily. Do I like Simpsons? Yes. Do I expect another CMF series? UH...... nope, sorry. If this license is really popular, this should reflect on a plan of a formal wave of regular sets, not a CMF series. I believe that other licenses deserve this chance as well. Suppose that this rumor is true, even though there were many iconic characters excluded in the original series, I'm.worried about that another series would have to include some characters that aren't really iconic to this license. I assume that a wave of regular sets might be able to cover the rest of characters. The other issue would be that it could lead to a weird result: some other regular licenses get even fewer characters than Simpsons. Edited by Dorayaki, Today, 12:46 PM.
  10. If the list is true, most of them are upgraded versions from the very first wave in 2012. The spolights might be possible rabbit family molds, a balllon and a new lighthouse. Maybe Emma's family would introduce some new variations of minidolls such as children and elders, which also do good to Disney license.
  11. I'm abit dissapointed that Frozen didn't get a whole wave during its own theatrical time, at least it could get more than three sets at once. I guess people would be curoius about whether this means Frozen would be counted as a part of Disney Princess license, or this would allow more non-princess story. My concern is that it seems too late to get a second wave (most of us even suspected that this license is cancelled). Also, not being bored by Friends, Disney classics have more diversified story elements but get much fewer sets than Friends. If TLG want to target at girls, I think this theme deserves to get another wave in mid-year time.
  12. Uh.... let's count Simpsons, Simpsons in May and regular series 12 in October. Fast?
  13. Do I like Simpsons? Yes. Do I expect another CMF series? UH...... nope, sorry. If this license is really popular, this should reflect on a plan of a formal wave of regular sets, not a CMF series. I believe that other licenses deserve this chance as well.
  14. Time for Police to get its own theme.
  15. I haven't seen animal series 6 so far. Hope that it comes soon.
  16. I think Merryweather is the answer to prove that most supporting characters are available choices in LEGO sets. I don't think there are characters "not allowed" to be used. The major issue is whether minidolls can be apt to any kind of licensed character or TLG is willnig to switch to minifigures, so that's the difficulty of designs.
  17. Villains and supporting characters are simpler to deal with than mascots since some of them are still human or human-like, like Prince Eric or Charming, if they don't need new molds, they can be easily created. The problem of the human is that, if TLG still stick to minidolls under this license, they have to create several new body parts such as shorter legs for dwarves or Ursula's octopus body. Of course, there have been exclusive body parts for many licensed minifigures, but not for minidolls yet. For Merryweather, who made an appearance in Duplo, used a whole new head mold just like any other Duplo figure, but it's hard to imagine her look as a minifigure(minidoll). It's not difficult to create seven Snow White dwarves if TLG can create the lower bodies. They were able to create Hobbits dwarves with exclusive beards, so it's not diffult for SW ones. The other way to deal with is distributing dwarves in different sets, though I think there were not too many useful scenes in Snow White.
  18. I like the fact that Spooky Girl and the Princess don't look like typical pretty girls in LEGO world. I'm not sure if Pizza Delivery Man's face tells me "friendly"....... I don't hate the Princess in general, but I still think her costume designs need to be more sophisticated. Still not sure. Hers does look 90% similiar with Dino Tracker's hairstyle. I really wish that she could have a whole blue body.
  19. Yeah, pretty true. Excluding other non-girls-oriented Disney classics, it's pretty wasteful and unfair that only four princess's appear. Many other stories could face different kinds of problem (= new mold needs): Snow White: Dwarves' cottage is the most symbolic building, however it also needs seven dwarves, which means its cost would be as much as that one from Hobbits. It's not impossible, but would TLC treat this theme as much as Hobbits? Mulan: new Chinese armor molds, and the question is whether girls would be interested in Ancient Chinese army if TLC still want to impress little girls instead of historical FOL. Beauty & Beast: Of couse, that Beast needs a whole new mold, same for those furnitures. Pocahontas: suppose that it can just reuse some parts from Lone Ranger and old Western sets, it's actually not a difficult case. The common prorblem for Frog Tiana and other Disney films is: most of them have iconic animal mascots and they mostly need new molds. To decrease the marginal production costs, each stories should have more than one set, but obviously TLG is not doing this right now. I guess Merida's brother cubs could be repainted into new dolls in the future, while the lizard of Rapaunzel is generically used in Friends sets. Cinderella's pets are the worst cases. I think Frozen deserves an independent line, but unfortunately many of the Disney films this year didn't get LEGO sets at all.
  20. I dont know. It's not an official rule of Ideas. Unless the review team has to find any excuse to reject projects, it could be that one year has many successful projects but the next year has very few. I think as long as the chosen projects are really welldone, the profits would be good enough to allow more production in the next year.
  21. Yeah, that's the worst case, the second being blonde Trace ponytail in both series 1 and 2. Two colors for the same new hairpiece in a series is acceptable to me. I know, I just meant that Dino Tracker's hairpiece wouldn't look like Bespin Leia either. But yeah, it's relunctant to put Padme's hairstyle on a City woman. No offense, Leia and Padme's exclusive hairpieces feels like something favoring that other licensed heroines don't get (best example: Katara) so I'd really like to see more CMFs reuse their hairpieces in new colors.I thought Dino Tracker would be like a Hunger Games heroine, but that character would use Tamina or Joanna's braid hairpiece.
  22. If you're telling the LEGO world part, obviously this has been proven wrong by other longterm LEGO themes which are longer than three seasons, like Bionicle, Chima or Friends. I've never heard that "LEGO is lack of creativity so the themes and stories can't be continued". Also, those themes I named haven't really joined the LEGO Movie world at all. It's not your fault, but I don't think those FOLs are happy to hear your saying. For the real-world part, well, it's indeed trickier than the LEGO world part, and maybe the LEGO world part has to include some metaphors from the real world. However there are still ways to deal with it. Suppose that Finn's family have done with TLM by three films , maybe their relatives, friends or neighbors heard the stories and continue the series with very different storytelling and background events. I think, in a different aspect, all LEGO theme stories are all made to pretend. There is no difference whether that story is composed by Finn, a TLG member or a professional writer. We just have to follow the figures and regard them as characters of a story and that's enough. Sorry to say I'm not a fan of dark age idea since it's already been used by Toy Story, even though it's a very common and representive issue for FOLs. Unless the writers could find a creative way to make it work. For example, giving Finn's sister a leading role so she can tell what happened to her brother and how she and her father continue Finn's story, which is what Molly Davis from TS didn't do at all in the third film.
  23. If you're saying the Dino Tracker hairpiece, that one looks like a new long single ponytail, which is more similiar with Padme's hairpiece. Again, if that's the case, Bespin Leia can simply reuse her mother's hairpiece. In Forest Maiden's case, that hairpiece was made due to both available design costs and more than one uses. However, that hairpiece can still be used for future original LEGO sets (maybe some Castle female figures can use that) since it isn't exclusive to SW license.Padme's hairpiece was the very first female hairpiece that made debut in licensed sets, but it's currently only used for newer Padme redesigns. Its either that TLG don't think it's useful. Or it's actually exclusive to SW license (just like Leia's) and can't be used for a generlc female figure, so TLG have to make a simiiliar hairpiece for the Dino Tracker.
  24. That has happened in Ninjago cartoon. It's either that the plot writers made that a wise hint for future subthemes, or that was just a simple waste. Well, to be optimistic, let's leave this reply in 2015/16 .
  25. Great MOC scenario..... though i'm sorry to say it's not like Town MOC.
