  1. Which would mean a Nixels sets built similarly to these could contain three Nixels if it was in the same "slot" as a normal Mixel, maybe four.
  2. Why do I seem like a transformers fan? Heh heh, fan *I'm imagining a ceiling fan unfolding into a bladed death trap here, in case you're wondering*.
  3. It looks stable enough to me, and I've built stuff much much larger than this. Anyway, the slightly azure-ish colors the lighting effect gives it makes this thing look absolutely perfect. I can't figure out how the body or head is built, though.
  4. Heh, another Fire Temple, this time probably with cheesy wing aesthetics. Although, as it has done in the past, Chima may surprise us pleasantly again and integrate some more logical means of propulsion into the vehicle/building. Maybe some turbines integrated into the floor or some fake wings? Also, what tribe is Strainor from? The Sabre-Tooth Walker and Mammoth Stomper seem quite interesting; I want to see how LEGO handles making a four-legged mech, although chances are that it'll just be another "traditional" tracked or wheeled vehicle.
  5. The colors are beautiful. Black and purple always work well, but here the pieces are alternately placed for maximum contrast and set so the colors seem to flow into each other. The more pinkish tubing piece seems slightly out of place. I like the back armor a lot, but the kilt/dress does not go well with the rest of the MOCs aesthetic. The simplistic weapon does, however, contrasting well against the complex mesh of pieces that form the character's design.
  6. Wow. I'm guessing the wing-function is going to require some technic-heavy work, although, considering some past "functions" (the cockpit comes off? Really, that counts as a function?) it could just as well be a simple HF/Eris-style build. Laval and Cragger could have jetpacks to match their figures in the Scorpion playset vehicle, although that would probably be mentioned in the description. I'm guessing the Chi orb function is simply a molded chest piece (although an armor add-on would be better for MOCs), possibly with a pin hole in it to allow for removal without having to do so manually. Panthar is probably a sleeker version of the basic build, although some strange shoulder armor is probably to be expected. I wonder what the weird claws mentioned throughout the descriptions are? If they're just the Raw-Jaw claws, they will include new fire and ice minifig-grippable pieces; if not, they're molded with fire/ice patterns, although LEGO could do both. The Phoenix Flame Crossbow is probably a simple technic build or, more likely, a zamor/meteor launcher/plasma blaster, maybe with some extra stuff to connect it to the figure's hand. The flippable spikes sound like they use a minifig-grippable joint; maybe the Bulk 3.0 armor add-on and a Bruizer armor add-on for the actual spikes?
  7. That looks amazingly accurate. Nice work. How many pieces are there in an average Mixel set?
  8. Torch looks the most like an actual slizer set; Ice looks better overall and Turbo, like all teal sets, looks absolutely fantastic. On the other hand, Judge/Jet is rather underwhelming, as is Amazon. Electro and Granite's builds are very similar looking and give them a great aesthetic; the claw-tipped legs make them look very animalistic. The mutants and Millenium seem as uninteresting as their set counterparts, with exception of Blaster, whose build is very bulky-looking and fits the original design well. In general, I think you did a good job recreating these.
  9. I'd say that the best use for 10 of those dollars is the Kai Mech. The rest of it would be well spent on any combination of the Ninjago 2014 sets, but while I'm biased towards Ninjago, I have to say that the Ultra Striker is also a good buy.
  10. The strange thing is that these characters, being completely robotic, even have genders at all. After all, there's no real point in doing so, as practically all character traits tend to be separate from gender even when dealing with organic creatures, even when dealing with a single species (i.e. humans).
  11. The "upgrade your mech" could merely be a promotion for the combiner models. Also, where do you see the tail of Crystal Beast in the game trailer, Xeros? I can't see CB at that point at all, besides the lower legs. And the staff looks like a reuse of the Queen Beast's, so it's probably only for the game, not actually part of the set. EDIT: Nevermind, I can see the tail and two spikes that both appear to be on it's back during a split-second frame at 1:03, although the placement of the tail "claw" is almost exactly where it's hand should be. So yeah, CB has a tail and three black-and yellow quaza spikes in total.
  12. But there are no more Scorpion sets (that we know of). There's only one price slot that's available that could have a scorpion set, and that's the one we're discussing anyway.
  13. Considering the size of the mini-Nixels, a single set would probably feature a combiner to make a Mixel-sized Nixel.
  14. Small 1x1 plates with balljoint/ballcup could make a Nixel's legs and arms, although the descriptions give me the feeling Nixels will lack any and all posability.
  15. A recolored jumper (a totally black one or GitD one would be interesting, although blue seems more probable) seems slightly more likely to me, as what it is is more obvious to people than a recolored hero fig. Not only that, the hero fig would require three recolors (legs, arms and head) rather than just one.
  16. I kind of agree. On some points even Bionicle's story felt a little childish, and HF's building system is just plain better, no doubt about it. Never before has it been so easy to make giant action-figure MOCs, which are often capable of supporting their own weight. The building system is simple to adapt both to robotic and organic designs and allows for a lot of combination with System parts. Because of this simplicity of design, old designs can be revisited with ease to test out new concepts and connections. On the other hand, HF's story is very simplistic. And Bionicle's is the only story I have ever seen described in a manner similar to an eldritch abomination (BZPower forums), which is definitely a plus in my opinion. Overall, I'd say HF's open-ended story helps it, as it allows for much more complex and creative backstories for MOCs without having to veer out of canon.
  17. It looks significantly better. I hadn't seen any of the details on the back either, which are pretty inventive. The use of the Atlantis key piece is absolute genius.
  18. That space ship is a beauty. Lots of greebles yet still that retro, simplistic look the classic space sets have. Also, SPACE ASTRO-!!KITTY!!! I think Benny's helmet will have the crack printed on it, or possibly sticker-ed. The construction vehicle mech is also amazing, and although less exciting than the spaceship, I just love the bulkiness of the whole thing. The police van, ironically, looks like the ultimate Blacktron spaceship (even though the cage resembles the Space Police I or II cages (I can't remember which)). With this wave, I'm starting to think these sets pulling space away from other themes is worth it.
  19. Considering the size of the Nixels from that pic, I'd say they're at most ten bricks; two printed round eye tiles, two modified bricks for the main body, one or two parts for the horns (either two cheese slopes or one horn foot piece) and about four pieces for the hands and feet. The mouth might be a printed piece too, so maybe thirteen pieces (one for the mouth and two more modified bricks). That means you could fit at least five of them in a Mixel-size set.
  20. The train looks slightly unfinished; a little more armor or plating to cover up the internals would help a lot, especially at the front of the main drill. The drill rig, however, looks excellent.
  21. From the looks of it, Crystal Beast may have a large azure armor plate on it's back, the "basic" type. However, I wouldn't be too surprised if the red creature is actually CB (and the crystals are rubies).
  22. I'm kind of sorry I haven't commented on this one before. That comical look the limb proportions give it is just excellent and for a small scale mass-produced drone the look just fits the character completely.
  23. Maybe, although that would still not account for the full disparity in part count. Perhaps a little scenery was added?
  24. It's too bad that we're getting Evo and Rocka again in the Queen set. Would it really have been too much to release another head mold for Stringer or Nex? If LEGO had dropped the extra mech for this set and used it to flesh out the Queen Beast a little more it could have looked quite a bit better. Although it's nice that we're getting Bulk again. I hope Crystal Beast is a little more complex than the show version, because at the moment it's just Splitter Beast minus the second creature. This would be a great opportunity to use the Brain Attack rock armor add-on. Back armor maybe? After all, if the info we've gotten is correct, the Crystal Beast weighs in at over 20 parts more than the Tunneler Beast, which appears to have an extra set of arms, furthering the mystery. What is LEGO not showing us about the Crystal Beast? I wonder what the in-show explanation for the heroes changing mechs will be. The mechs will probably just get damaged enough to warrant new ones.
  25. Huh...Like all the mixel sets, these don't seem too interesting, but whatever the parts are that make up the earth monsters legs are (they seem like spines) and the reversed version of the 1x1 plate with downwards tooth that also seems to appear in that set seem like interesting parts. The purple mixels, surprisingly enough, don't interest me that much, but the fact that one of the green mixels (the one on the right) appears to have green starfish for hands is amusing.
