  1. That wagon wheel... Love all your window solutions as well. And the sheer size of this is fantastic!
  2. Great job SK, like the dk green building and the inclusion of an interior is really nice! Neat loom too!
  3. Great job here, especially with the shaping and love the hints of dark red!
  4. Good work here, I like your solution for the top of the tower... I've agonized over round tower tops quite a bit (and generally end up leaving them flat!). +1 for the UoP credit!
  5. Great job on this, especially with the pose of the guy on the ground, that's a technique I'm going to have to borrow, if you don't mind!
  6. Great work dG, love the bustling feel and all the cool minifig combos!
  7. Nice work, especially that first shot! Using multiple figs to represent movement is an interesting idea that I think did work fairly well!
  8. Not sure if that's good or bad - I had half wanted him to die, just to cut out one of my too many characters. Oh well, you'll probably not hear from him again after the battle anyways!
  9. Excellent build, I really like the base shape and the you did a great job with the texture! +1 for crop farming and life in Kali. As far as the perspective (besides the fact that you've already taken the claim back), generally Forced Perspective means a perspective that's forced because you haven't really built what the viewer is seeing (provided they don't look too closely, or they'll probably be able to tell it's miniature based on their knowledge of LEGO brick sizes - but someone who didn't know relative brick sizes wouldn't be able to tell). That can be something that's farther away than it looks, closer up than it looks, or straight up and down instead of having it's own depth. So the perspective on this build is really great, but I don't know that we can call it forced perspective just because of the depth of field, if you know what I mean (it's all really there, in that size, etc.). Here are some good examples of Forced Perspective (some by me and some by others). (You can see the set up behind some of those.)
  10. Pfff, I can't believe Gad surrendered (to a thrice dead person moreover!), he ought to have died fighting nobly! (Discretion is the better part of valor I suppose.) By the way, I had actually meant to sign up for Dugal, I guess it's just that I get confused between Petera and Paulos. Obviously too late now, but maybe that's part of the reason Gad surrendered!
  11. Nice job on this DM! +1 for the UoP credits!
  12. +1 for round walls and towers!
  13. I think what's already been recommended will come in handy, but like I said, it's unlikely, no matter how hard we and you try, that you'll hit on exactly the pieces you need - not have ones you rarely use, nor ones you're always needing more of. I'm afraid that's just not going to happen! (Not trying to be pessimistic, of course!) The LDD suggestion is a very good one, I'd try it out if I were you.
  14. Typically, yes, the smaller the piece, the more you should get/the more useful it's going to be. And after all, you can (almost) always use 4 2x2s instead of a 4x4, plus, you have the added versatility that you can also make a 8x2, or some odd shape, etc. Honestly though, you're not going to get everything you want at the first go, no matter how much advice we give you - you'll just have to play around with it, build some MOCs, and see what it is you most need for next time!
  15. Nice work, the barn looks pretty good and I like the inclusion of all the small details! +1 UP credit!
  16. 25 soldiers is plenty. Personally I only have two or three matching soldiers, which is (very) annoying at times but I can work around it (and don't want to spend money on figs!). I'm sure you could find use for 25 in one build, but if you find it's really pushing things, 10-15 would probably cover what you really will find (not absolutely necessary) but a huge benefit.
  17. Excellent job, really like the 'underground' idea! It's interesting though that the doors almost look like door exteriors... which is not something I'm critiquing, because it does add to the build aesthetically, but almost makes it look like instead of going outside your going inside upon exiting. And for not having cheese at your disposal, the rockwork turned out really well!
  18. Yes. I don't think anyone else? At least scrolling through the high lord's thread, there weren't.
  19. How many (active) MOC experts does Kali have? Gabe and Gideon of course. I think there must be a few others but can't seem to think right now.
  20. Great first MOC, the foamy water looks really good and both the tower and landscape are well done! The inclusion of the dwarf's hole is really neat too, and I like that border! If you hit the larger arrow button on the lower right hand corner of the black box on the desired picture's page on Flickr, you'll see a Code option (under Share), hit BBCode, and then select the desired size: the final code should look like this: [url=https://flic.kr/p/oLe1PF][img=https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3844/14940313941_8ab1d4757e.jpg][/url][url=https://flic.kr/p/oLe1PF]Kaliphlin inland sea fort[/url] by [url=https://www.flickr.com/people/127022024@N08/]BrickCurve[/url], on Flickr You can get rid of the bottom, like so: [url=https://flic.kr/p/oLe1PF][img=https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3844/14940313941_8ab1d4757e.jpg][/url] (If you don't you'll end up with this: Kaliphlin inland sea fort by BrickCurve, on Flickr underneath the picture.) Here's a tutorial that might be helpful.
  21. I haven't even been trying to read everything! Not a MOC expert by any means, but I'd be happy to help, I will have time something like Sept. 20th - Oct. 5th, and then not until November 15th or so.
  22. Oh, okay, I had forgotten about that but reading through I did say I could represent Qarkyr. *sigh* Ageven obviously has too many responsibilities to keep track of ...
  23. I prefer picture reviews mainly because it allows me to focus on the parts I find interesting, and to read or reread or not read the reviewer's comments and text as I like. Plus I don't have to worry about bugging anyone else with noise, or wearing headphones, etc.
  24. Actually I would think a purple dino's habitat would be more of a very brightly colored forest/meadow type thing with lots of brightly colored flora (not current habitat, though I could add some flowers easily and was thinking about it). I hadn't even thought of Barney, but you know Apatosaurus and those sort of things are sometimes shown in a darkish purple color (actually purple was about the only color available... thus the inspiration).
  25. I'm slaving away over my Mount Up! build... I've got a habitat I'm really happy with, but don't know about the actual creature... how does a purple dino sound? ... I do have another small vig base that ended up as a miss-fire for a different scene. I'll probably photograph that tomorrow. So there should be a couple more free-builds from me soon!
