Very nice job MK, I like the bright atmosphere created by the light blue details! And the gaps in the stone with bricks behind them really add a great touch, that's something I will have to keep in mind!

Managed to get my Mount up! build done in time! Got another free-build on the way as well! Edit: Here she be! -
Good work on this one, nice job on the round tower and as other have mentioned the landscaping looks great! Nice touch with the sword and skull down below!

Nice work Garmadon, a little small but the wing shape looks good and I like that cute head! +1 on the UoP credit!

Nice work here Gideon, like the use of dk orange! Though I honestly don't think the canopy design is too realistic, it does look pretty good!

Meanwhile in the South (Part II) (Freebuild)

Great job with the landscaping here, love the variations in the shades of green! -
Given the pieces you had to work with, you really did a great job with this! The head definitly has the big bug eye look, and the smashed up red tongue (or whatever) does add to it! +1 for UoP credit!

Fantastic job as per the usual Z, the sheer size of this is amazing and all the details and texturing are just excellent! I especially like the round dk red inset circle! Great work on the interior as well, the wavy rug is really good and the lintel over the doorway is a great touch!

I wouldn't want to mess with this guy! Looks very solid and quite a powerful beast! Great work with the tail especially. And the wings turned out really nice as well. I have to say though that the jaw seems a touch small, but off the top of my head I can't think of any piece that would take care of that!

Fantastic job Gabe, love the bird's shape and the texturing on the wall is also excellent! It would have been nice to see a picture with just the mount, but still, great work!

Pushing the last minute thing as far as possible... (Thanks Z for the slack! I would have been done on Saturday, but internet was down so I had to pull an early Monday morning!) Mount up! Rhopalocera Lagargander (Giant Butterfly) I hope it's okay to include a link to more pictures on Flickr? As that's always been allowed in the past and hasn't been specifically prohibited this time I went ahead and did it...
-
It seemed like just an average ordinary day in the Jungles of Gorr... That is, until this thing came along! The scientists back at Petraea University called it Rhopalocera Lagargander. But most of us would have called it a Giant Butterfly... complete with frazzle-haired rider! A figless top view: It took years for the natives to figure out how to ride the Giant Butterfly, and it took even longer for others to catch on, but now that they have, this will likely be just the first in a long line of butterfly mounts finding their way into Historica! Not only are they good for speedy aerial transportation and getting a bird (or butterfly's) eye view of the situation, but their flashy colors will be sure to attract admiration flitting along the streets of Barqa or Petraea! Please note that the base actually has very minimal overhang, it's not 16x16 but 14x14 to allow for the otherwise seriously overhanging bamboo leaves. I'd like to claim Brick-Built Animals (Agriculture and Zoology), and Waterfall (Hydrology) UoP credits for this build. Thanks for checking 'er out, I'd appreciate your opinions on how the half border, half overhanging-plants looks, particularly with the inset black. There are quite a few more pictures on Flickr, several of the base without the Lagargander from various angles. And yeah, so much for a purple dino...

Fantastic job, love the trees and the fire with stone around it is great! Excellent use of those tooth pieces in the split wood section as well!

Mount Up! Lesser Guylinea Dragon

+1 on brick built animal. I do think it looks a bit cluttered with the saddle, but you did a pretty good job with the shape (though honestly I don't think the eyes are working for me). -
Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Kai NRG replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
You should wait until they actually approve (with a +1). (Potentially this could be changed, but for now.) Quite a few Kaliphlinians don't ever +1, but it is kind of strange that neither of the people who do posted on your build but didn't. I had actually though I had approved that, I will now. And also, posting in the PU thread really helps (you may have done that, I can't remember, but just a reminder). -
I might call them that, as a term of derision... But then, not if I were a smart giant, because if I thought everyone else was a dwarf, I couldn't really lay claim to being a giant... Okay, seriously. Dwarf, usually, does not refer merely to a person that's short. I consider myself short (and I've met several fully grown people even shorter than I am - 5'3", 5", even 4"9', possibly shorter, who also are not dwarfs) but I'm not a dwarf. Dwarfs have pretty obvious differences to a normal human (depending on type of dwarfism), such as head/rest of body ratio (that one, obviously, is not reproducible in LEGO, except in so far as head/length of legs ratio is), and others. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there is no such thing as a "tall" - or normal height - dwarf. It's an anomaly that just doesn't happen - like, there are no people that have three eyes. You just can't get three eyes. Period. And you can't get a "tall" dwarf. Not by definition, but genetically. Now, of course, a fantasy dwarf might have a slightly different definition than a real life dwarf. I haven't read much (if any, really) of that kind of fantasy, so I can't really speak to the subject a whole lot, but I would think short stature would be one of the distinguishing features. And then, when it comes to LEGOs, I can totally understand using tall legs for articulation. In Ecc's MOC, since I believe all of them were dwarfs, I could pretty easily imagine everyone being short together. In this MOC, it makes it a lot harder to tell who's a dwarf and who isn't. I originally thought that only the two standing next to nivremis's fig were dwarfs. Now, reading his comment, they all are. Which is fine. Personally, I wouldn't call a fig a dwarf if he has normal legs. But if it works for the MOCer, he's of course welcome to do it!
-
I have to agree with you there, a minifigure can't really be called a dwarf if he has normal sized legs.

Red might look good, too. Great job with these, by the way! I hope you're going to give us some pictures of the whole thing!

Okay, yeah. I see how that could happen. I guess the reference was to other challenges or contests (like Mount up!), but within GoH!- 343 replies

+1 for battle scene, minifig posing, and animals, but I'm not sure I can give you the advanced SNOT. There's a good deal of SNOT work I agree, but it seems to be more on the outside details and not part of the integral structure, plus it's mostly achieved using joints in such a way that they can move around (so the studs could be on top if you wanted to pose it that way). On the other hand advanced SNOT is a pretty broad credit, so if you can tell me what you were thinking, I'm open to conviction!

Fantastic job here, love the bottom story windows and that roof style is just awesome!

@vitreolum, your first build (though awesome!) is not technically a GoH build, since you posted it in a different forum, so I don't think you can get credit for that.- 343 replies

Great job here, especially with the round tower and I like the steps leading to the door as well!
