  1. No no, it is fine for now. It is mainly a question about a) balancing out between factions/players, and b) balancing it with official challenges. If it had "just" been a cooperative building effort, you would have been in the clear, but since it takes on the nature of a minichallenge, the court should be involved. But don't worry this time around.
  2. I find that if you curve the lower edge of the sail inward (in the middle), you get sails that look a bit more dynamic - might work for you. Also, your sails should be short enough that they do not overlap the yardarm below. Otherwise, they cannot be sheeted home! ;)
  3. Interesting minichallenge - I like the subject matter, and will be very interested in seeing what comes out of this - and hope to be able to participate too! For the record, and this goes for anyone wishing to host a minichallenge of sorts, for the future, please coordinate with your faction leader, so the court can coordinate things.
  4. To me the question is what constitutes "close to the original one"? If I understand you correctly, you would like a playable ship your son can relate to as the Victory? To me that would mean: Large (size like the flagship) Many guns (Maybe a closed gundeck like the flagship as well as guns on deck) Nelson checkers (the colours of the victory with black and yellow, if I remember correctly) Technically, the easiest would probably be to replicate the imperial flagship and then adjust it with different colours and maybe some extra guns. But it all hinges on what you and your son expects :)
  5. Super expertly done, sir! Particularly the brilliant minifig compositions stand out to me!
  6. I thought you had spent them all in supporting Prio's war efforts!
  7. Landscaping and composition of this build is just great - the layout of the building with the sidewing for the furnace has come out great, and I like the detailing on the house. Another great technique is using tiles to smooth the curve of your landscaping - gives the impression of less height than plates. I will try this out at some point. The way you have integrated the large piece in the door on the upper floor is a great idea. One thing that doesn't work entirely for me here is the roof on the upper floor. I think you have done well within the technique you have chosen, but I am not sure I think that works for a four-sided roof in this scale - the top also seems too flat. Don't really have any useful input as to how to improve it, though :P Overall great build with many great details to steal... ehrrm, borrow :)
  8. Fascinating story and excellent little build to go along with it! Emile will have some interesting adventures ahead of him!
  9. Welcome aboard, @Masked Mini! I am happy our little guild hall here can be of inspiration as it has been for me :) And remember, should the fancy strike you, BoBS is always welcoming new players, regardless of activity level. As to your WIP, it is looking promising! I think I agree with Skippy and Fischer that the top down view shows that the change in width is too extreme when using the horisontal slopes. Looking at the second picture, it seems to me that staggered vertical 2x2 slopes (possibly combined with others) and horisontal tiles will work better to create what you are trying to do, as the give a gentler curve. Yes, seen from above the width will be a bit more blocky, but as the steps are small it will be less critical - and Fischer's suggestion for half plate offsets is brilliant and could really make that technique pop! I think I have to try that myself! :)
  10. Good choice, @Mister Phes - I have full confidence in the two chosen and happy to see that BoBs and pirates are already getting more attention!
  11. Very nice builds and storytelling - I shall be following this! :)
  12. Cool little ship - I can definitely see the inspiration but it is still unique. The original had the same chubby look with those wide tall hull pieces for such a short length, and all the sails carried far forward! :) But it makes for a very playable set - and it seems like your son is making the most of it! :D And fun little scenes!
  13. Nice troops and cool helmets - have you 3D printed them, or?
  14. Excellent build, Legonaut - there isn't much I can add to what has already been said! Well done! One thing I will suggest is to see if you can get a bit more light on your photos. I know white on white is hard to photograph, but generally, it seems to me that your pictures are a bit dark. Perhaps longer exposure times (with a tripod) or more indirect light would help? In any case, that is really nitpicking. Keep up the good work!
  15. Hmm, those should show up directly. I know an update of the account sheets is underway, so let's see if that fixes it. :)
  16. Superb build, sir! Obviously, the elevator crane steals the show, and I am particularly fond of the wooden rails/tracks - gives a certain game of thrones vibe. (the wall) Additionally, the cliffside and general landscaping is nicely done, and the houses give a great backdrop to the parade in the street. Well done! On the other hand, Olean involvement in Charlatan Bay is sure to raise some eyebrows in nearby Corlander settlements, should word get out... ;)
  17. Technically, anyone can always do this with any settlement, but must consider the repercussions. Eslandola could land on Cocovia and establish a settlement, but I doubt Corrington would be very positive towards such a move;) So, if you tell us that you consider it an SR island (and that you will potentially react to protect your territory), it *is* a SR island.
  18. Does it matter? As Sea Rats, you live where you hang your hat ;) I think it counts as a SR island, for map purposes,
  19. "What do we do now?" the mate asked. "Elementary, sir! Get ourselves a new ship, of course" Well, had to comment on the Rover being sunk last MRCA - a shame, since I really enjoyed that build, so I guess I will sistership it. This is also my build to keep the hideout secret. Another picture:
  20. If you attack, we will find a (reasonable and just) way to handle it, rest assured ;)
  21. I think we can handle this. @Legostone, can you help? :)
  22. Excellent story and ditto, build, Wellesley! I really enjoy the fact that you have built up a history of the place, tied it into Corrington so well, and given each of the characters their own life! The build(s) is very impressive too, and really show how wide your building reach is. Ships, buildings, advanced techniques, posing, etc. Some of your pictures are excellent, and you have done great things with editing, but some of the others are a little dark. I can suggest a cheap tripod for your camera to allow for longer exposure times, which helps in limited light conditions. Overall, smashing introduction to BoBs! Hereby officially your welcome from me and all my characters! Hopefully they will meet at some point! :)
  23. I *think* I have finally managed to write-up the last aMRCA's, but if anyone has been missed, please let me know, and I will get to it asap. In other news, I think we will change up the format a little, as it is currently rather unwieldy for the GMs. More on this soon(tm). ;)
  24. @Fraunces Brilliant end to both expeditions - do you need anything additionally from us as game masters, or is everything set?
