Due to work, I will not be able to look at the tmrca before earliest thursday, so if anyone is behind on orders, I figure you might as well get 24 hours extra.

As we will also be somewhat delayed, I am hereby announcing that we will press onwards to King's Port

Lovely little build. Can you please link to the original MOC, so we have a chance to see the design she is based on/sistershipped from? :)

To keep it fair, we will grant all the requested extensions. However, I will ask you all to post which choice you are making in the adventure topics. This to make sure everyone has approximately the same information to work with with each deadline. And please, everyone, fill in your paperwork before the deadline, as otherwise, it complicates matters. Thank you.

Great intro and wonderful vignette. The character himself is very characteristic - looks fabulous(ly dangerous) Looking forward to following your stories!

I'll look into it, Kwatchi

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Safe travels, Bart. Ross, if something like that was 20x20, I think it could be considered. In my opinion it is currently too smal, although very neat. (or you could combine it with an interior or similar.) -
Granted, both extensions.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Indeed. Options remain the same. In some rare cases, I could imagine an option being explicitly stated only to be viable for a given period, and if you are dealing where others are involved too, delaying may change the situation somewhat, but generally you are entirely right. Say you build a 16x16 micro showing a residential area and wanted to license it as a small residence, we would look at whether it shows sufficient effort. The issue with micros is that they are typically very low, which again means less building mass than a comparable footprint normal build. So you may want to add a larger footprint to keep it of sufficient building mass, so to speak. hope that makes sense :) -
Nope, Drunknok is right. You cannot cut cross corners like that. :)

@Roadmonkeytj, @Professor Thaum, @Fraunces The island, or rather group of islands, appeared to be engulfed in a permanent fog bank, and had it not been for the map, the numerous reefs would have meant an end to the expedition. Even with that in hand, it had been a close call several times, and future shipping would require lighthouses and pilots for safe passage into the cove. Luckily, a lighthouse can be lit or turned off... and as any wrecker will tell you, a well placed light can turn out quite profitable... Already, several wrecks of all ages had been found on their route in. It would be easy to keep uninvited guests out, where they even to find the place. In fact, it was perfect for their purposes, and now is the time to establish your secret base on this undisclosed location. 1 build required, which has to show some special characteristic defining of the settlement. (Examples: The settlement is built into caves in the cliffs. Built on stilts and shipwrecks in the cove.) And with the goal now fulfilled, what will the expedition do next? Return west? Stay and develop the settlement? Or?

"The secret of the lake" Episode 1 ~ Samson Brody
Bregir replied to Fraunces's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I tripod and a rollerblind can fix you up at a very low budget. The tripod allows longer exposure so light is less critical, and the rollerblind gives a uniform background. I use a light grey one for my pics, and they are fairly cheap from Ikea and similar stores :) -
"The secret of the lake" Episode 1 ~ Samson Brody
Bregir replied to Fraunces's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice build and very intriguing story - I will be looking forward to following this - and to seeing what those nefarious types are going to do to Fraunces! I think the build looks good, I like both the interior, the portico, and the exterior shots. The first picture looks like a lively interior scene, the second has some cool shutters, but the third is my favourite. The roofs, walls, and different colour of dirt works very well. I think you might want to work a little bit more with your photos, though, as they seem to have strange lighting. Particularly the second one is also somewhat grainy. I would guess that light is your problem, particularly if you are taking your pictures with an older phone or camera, but I am really no expert - all I can say is that your builds and story are great - they deserve better pictures :) -
@Roadmonkeytj, @Professor Thaum, @Fraunces On mud island, chief Timone had shown them the perfect spot for a harbour, and it was now time for a decision. How permanent was the camp supposed to be? Secrecy is key We must maintain secrecy and should establish a hideout, where our ships can dock, resupply, and trade with the natives. Make a hideout build (minimum 32x32), and your hideout here will be free and have a trade value of 100 dbs for as long as it stands. Pirate freetown! We are in need of a permanent base and shall settle down. Chief Timone has offered to help us optimise defenses. Build a small fort (and mark the location on the island map) to establish the settlement. The fort will be free from upkeep. Only one option can be taken, and either will end this half of the adventure. If you wish to continue this part of the adventure, an additional build is required, as well as your new objectives. News from the rest of the expedition will come soon...

Your starting zone is part of the 6 zones. I think that is where the misunderstanding lies.
-
By my observation, a range 5 vessel can only just make it to nelissa from Mesabi Landing, not to terraversa, the scale on the new haven sea map is quite large compared to the others, and we are talking uncharted waters, not known sea zones. This sounds about right.

[ESL A-MRCA] Expedition to the New Haven Sea
Bregir replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Capt Wolf Jack and Kate recovered some rotting parchment from the chest, along with a rusty sword, and some other discarded trinkets. They took what they could back to the ship, and in the captain's cabin, they deciphered what they could. Based on the scraps, The Treasure seemed to be hidden in the remains of a wooden fort that had been built by Itasca's crew. The remaining scraps included a page with the phrase "Don't go to King Eater's shrine" written in blood 156 times, and a few pages detailing Itasca's descent into madness and cannibalism. The other part of the expedition were reviewing the findings from scoping out the village. Disturbingly, there was every sign of the natives being hostile. Human bones were scattered across the village, both in the waste, and used as decoration. Perhaps it would be best to avoid them... With all the commanding officers on one ship, everyone was briefed, and a course of action could be picked. Options: Isle 5: Explore the Sea Caves Large Caverns can be seen from the ocean, and rowed into. Explore the inland You will have to watch out for natives, but exploring the island was what we came for. Isle 6: The Old Fort Built out of wood 200 years ago, the fort is heavily rotted, and overgrown, Somewhere here, the treasure of Itasca is supposedly hidden. Show your expedition searching the fort. King Eater's Shrine A shrine where rituals are practiced. This could have disturbing, and painful consequences to your adventure. Or was that just the ravings of a mad man? Onwards: The Horizon Pick a heading for any or all of your ships. No builds required, but this takes one of your options. 2 options may be taken this turn.- 49 replies

Yes, it is. Looking at the distances, for the Nipper to make it all that way in uncharted waters, something extraordinary has to be done, so we had to balance it out. As you reach a Corlander port, yes - I believe that was the rules set out originally? (Please correct me if I remember incorrectly)
-
@Drunknok Calinstock disappeared from the horizon, and the Nipper continued onwards, back to the city of Mesabi Landing. Weeks passed uneventfully, but it was clear that the trip was longer than expected, and supplies was starting to run out. The crew started to show signs of scurvy and something had to be done. A small half moon shaped island came into sight (island 2). The crew of the Nipper had to make a choice. We must seek shelter The Nipper will end its turn at island 2. Show the crew restocking and indicate where they go next. 1 build required. Run like smoke'n'oakum! Throw the guns overboard and let her stretch out! This option will allow you to go to Mesabi Landing this turn, but will also apply a BoBS card locked to the Nipper with range +1, crew -1, and firepower -2. If this option is taken, the following applies: Soon, they were in the familiar water of the East Prio Sea. After a quick stop in Jameston, to resupply, they reached Argentia, worn and spent. But as they rounded the Island, they noticed that Mesabi Landing was much larger than when they had left, and also, more wet. In fact, what had once been a massive harbour was now a debris filled shoreline. Pip and a few men rowed to shore, and disembarked. Streets were muddy, and the once fabulous rail lines were now far too damaged to take. Pip continued on foot, until she found the WTC offices, which were still somewhat intact. There, Mordo sat grumpily behind a desk of papers. "Have you come to bring me more bad news?" asked Mordo. "No," Said Pip, "Though it turns out there is nothing but open water above Stormhaven. Anyways, we had incredible adventures, and discovered interesting things in the New Haven Sea." She filled him in, and Mordo filled her in on the situation in Mesabi Landing. "Well, we certainly have some options we can take." Said Pip. Options: Restock and Return As you are in a friendly port, you may add resources, or ships to your adventure. Any ship from Zone 35, or 32 may join the next leg of your adventure, with your permission. However, you may be slower upon the return, depending on what is added to your adventure. 1 microbuild of the fleet headed back to Calinstock is required. Assist Mesabi Landing Build a property in Mesabi Landing (small or medium) which can be licensed for free despite the licensing ban. 1 build required. ============================================================================= MEANWHILE ============================================================================= Captain Riley and his men watched the Nipper disappear. It would take long before anyone would be able to respond to its return. Circumnavigating Calinstock had yielded nothing of note, so how will the expedition pass the time? Explore the Tower Either the top or the cellar of the tower may yield something interesting. Show your expedition clearing the rubble and exploring the top, or circumventing the traps and exploring the cellar. 1 build required. Set up Camp You might be here a while, so it could do to set up some fortifications. Or maybe some houses. Or a Spa. 1 build required, must be licensable under EGS. This will establish a squatter settlement on Calinstock. 1 option from each set may be taken.

[ESL A-MRCA] Eslandola mission to Terraversa
Bregir replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Elostirion, @Capt Wolf, @gedren_y Later that week, a sealed envelope was returned to Roman. In his office, he opened it, and found the document signed by Oldis, and stamped with the official seal of Terraversa. The deal had been accepted and will take effect once it is ratified by the Colonial Council of ESL. The accompanying letter did not seem entirely enthusiastic, and did point out a preference of Terraversa to see Isla de Victoria independent, as well as a preference for true free trade. However, it was clear that the recognition of independence was most welcome. Last, Oldis had included a note of worry. That external influences might be threatening the future of Terraversa. Apparently, there were rumours of a loyalist uprising, but very little was known so far. What was next for the grand ambassador? Deliver the Document to Bardo For the trade deal to take effect, we must deliver it to Bardo for ratification by the Colonial Council. 1 build required. Send one of your ships to Bardo. This will weaken your expedition accordingly, but activate the treaty for the coming MRCA. Protect your interests We have managed to secure a treaty with Terraversa. Anything that threatens the current order in Terraversa threatens our interests. We must find out what is happening before we can act. 1 build required showing some covert activity to uncover the truth. Now is the time to return Thank the Terraversans for their time and return both ships to Bardo. 1 build required. This will end the adventure, activate the treaty, and make the ships available from Bardo for the tMRCA turn. 2 options can be taken (only one if the adventure is ended).- 29 replies
