  1. Sorry for the double post - Hereby a small freebuild I have had sitting on the shelf for a while. Is Avalonia in hibernation or simply not as chatty as thos other (/inferior!) guilds? *Is off to hug a tree*
  2. As the Trifork spread accross the banks to the north side of the river, New Town appeared. During the Revolword wars, the Lord Mayor of the Trifork ordered ramparts build to ensure the safety of this new neighbourhood. These were build by setting heavy logs into the ground and stacking stone and dirt on both sides about 3 meters in height. For the top part of logs still exposed, they were reinforced by an additional row of logs and a walkway for the patrols was established behind this wall. It is manned by the now reformed militia of the Trifork, armed with fine Shadowmere steel and trained by experienced warriors. While not as formidable as a stone city wall, the ramparts are resilient to siege weapons, gives the defenders a favourable position for fighting, breaks any enemy charge, and is cheap and easy to maintain and improve. With the Drow incursions, a large battle in the nearby Wither Woods, aggressive Mitgardian dwarves, civil war in Nocturnus, and new rumours of troubles brewing in Kaliphlin, plans are being made to expand the northern defenses with a moat, wooden spikes and a number of bastions, but work has not yet commenced. The inhabitants of New Town can only hope this will not prove a catastrophic delay...
  3. So many exciting things going on these days, it's hard to keep up! Great little build - You've packed in a lot of details and story in a relatively small build. One wonders what will awaken from this tomb. And whether it is the same power stirring this and the vulcano - and what else such a power is planning, and what it is capable of! I'd suggest reinforcing city gates, increasing the training of th militias, and filling up the granaries!
  4. I've got to ask - all those crypts and rooms; are they all in the same build as the surface pics? This is a crazy cool build, and a brilliant next chapter in your collab - They do say that the greatest joy is in expectation, but still... GIEF US MOAR! NAOW!!! I think my favourite part is the crypt with the graves opening as the vampires emerge, but really - It is all amazing. It seems the support for the Nocturnian Resistance (I shall say zis only vance!) is rising! Will this shake the foundations of the Black Spire?
  5. I think this is a great idea, and hope more collabs will arise over time. I am Avalonian, and a bit short on time, but other than that, I might be interested in something limited. (You could send a PM) You've got a nice storyline going on for yourself too, though! Alternatively, you could contact (PM) one of the people behind the "Frozen beyond" storyline and ask if there is anything you could do or support with. Lastly, you can take a look at how SarahJoy did with her recent build supporting the Vlad, Mortis, Anfauglir line. (There has been many examples in the past, but this is the most recent one.) And then just build something that supports an existing storyline. Two things to keep in mind (that may be obvious): 1) Don't make a narrative that will thwart or affect and ongoing story. Instead, support it or play up to it - it may spark some sort of response! And even if it doesn't, its still great to see it all come together. 2) Ask before you use sig figs, or make anything that could affect someone's story. Well, basically, follow the same rules as for RP. Do not dictate the actions, thoughts or motives of others, but feel free to let your characters do anything within their power. (Without god-modding ) Just my two (maybe ten) cents.
  6. There is definitely something going on up north, and as with this, I can't wait to see the next chapter! Plus, the challenge coming closer! And we've generally seen quite a few nice ongoing storylines - I am hoping this trend will continue. The bacon-sprinkles on the awesomesauce is when others start support these stories with small builds. (Like Sarahjoy's recent build) What I am really looking forward to see is how this and the Kaliphlin civil war leads up to the final chapter of Book II! *Is thrilled*
  7. Your story really made me smile! I really like your landscaping, the posing and the general look of the wagon. My only nitpick (As I also commentedon flickr) is the physics. Maybe the wheels could be moved forward to better carry the weight of the wagon. Right now there is quite a load on those poor horses!
  8. Good build, great story, and I really like how you support the ongoing collab! That's right in the heart of the true GoH spirit. (The above does not represent any official GoH policy, but is purely the author's own beliefs )
  9. Those maps are great - You are a Master Cartographer indeed!
  10. "Small scenes"? While it's just 16x16 you have packed in a lot of awesomeness (and height) into them. I think the Manor is my favourite, but really, they are all awesomesauce! I hope you will find time to do the rest, as this is a great idea - and that others will follow suit. I might even do so myself, although you have set a very high standard that makes it hard to follow! Brick on! EDIT: Where did you get the lowest windows in the manor from?
  11. Upon hearing of the death of Bishop Jamon, some of the parishioner of the Aslanic Temple in the Trifork decided to travel to Aden's Gate bearing gifts to offer their services to the Order. OOC: I like what you have done with the Aslanic order and the temples you have built throughout Historica, so I thought I would play along with this quick little procession. The rounded tower room looks great with all the ornamentation on the inside, and will look great as part of a larger tower. It is obvious that the Aslanic Order is a rich and powerful organisation, and I shall be looking forward to seeing more of Aden's Gate!
  12. I don't know what to praise the most, the build or the storyline, so I will chose an entirely different thing! I think the collaborative and coordinative effort put into this is extraordinary - and the results are fantastic - I really can't wait to see the upcoming episodes! Both Mortis' vision and Ravage's messengers promise great tales to be told! Keep up the good work - Hope this might inspire even more collaborative efforts in GOH
  13. If a barn can't count as a storehouse, the system is flawed! :) Great build and interesting story - looking forward to seeing what the blue wolves are up to!!
  14. What an absolutely stunning intro/set of builds! I especially like the SNOT work on the gatehouse. Have you considered to register Katoren with the cartographer's guild in Albion? (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92705) Welcome to our lands!
  15. Exiting! (Are all the "cool" jokes already taken? ) Seems something has a storyline coming up - We've had quite a few hints lately! I am really looking forward to seeing where this is going! But keep you frozen hands of our Avalonian shores! Frost doesn't go well with tights, treehugging, and tulips! On a sidenote - I really love those collaborative efforts like this and Vladivus/ME/Jorrith storylines. Hope we will see more of such in the future - and time permitting - I might take part in one one day myself.
  16. Nice series! My favourite is probably the Philosopher - where is his torso from? Glad to see you also included some figs from outside the for guilds!
  17. Thanks all - It is funny to see how people have very different favourites, although the shepherd appear to come out in pole position. One of my favourites too, maybe I should make a moc around him. In fact, I should probably build some mocs around all of them. It's been a great inspiration to see so many great combinations in this context - really gets the creative juices flowing! Thanks, sirs. I am glad you like how I included other factions! To really represent Historica, I think they should have a place here. (And I see that some of the other entries have had the same idea! ) Thanks, Hammerhand. I haven't seen that design, maybe you have a link? I see how the merchant captain might fit will in a more modern setting, but on the other hand, I don't see why a historican captain couldn't look like this - And he DOES look cool! Thanks, RC I think the torso is from the CMF highland warrior (Or whatever he is called)
  18. This is a brilliant creation, and fits rigth into the Avalonia I imagine. I am particularly fond of the way the buildings come together, especially that warehouse in the middle. And those lanterns are great - I am wondering how on earth you made them... It would seem you are still wearing lovely, green tights closest to your skin! Brick on!
  19. Hi Milonelsiano - I think it is looking really good - I am not personally a fan of the extensive greebling used by some. I am thinking castles are build to be strong, and thus would be built well. However, one might say that castles where built by slightly ruffer stones (compared to temples, for examples), so some degree of mottling could be more realistic. (Brick- or log-bricks in same colour or other nuances.) Historica, though, is a fantasy setting, so I think the clean look works well! And with the structure you have created, you avoid the grey (bley :P) wall syndrome well. Not sure how to handle the entrance/gate - but I would imagine what kind of terrain would be chosen to build a castle upon. And how an entrance would be placed based on that. Looking forward to seeing more of this build! Brick on //Bregir
  20. Welcome to the Guilds! Why anyone would chose the cold, frozen, inhospitable north, when you can hug trees amongst the dandelions in Avalonia, is beyond me, though! I think the story is a good start, and your sig fig and presentation looks great (Dat base! ) - The real story is told when you start building! Looking forward to seeing more from you!
  21. And here is my entry: Great entries all - may the best one win! Maybe we should create a "best of" based on all the entries?
  22. Here is my entry to the GoH Anniversary Contest Cedrica Royal Guard of Cedrica With the King's whereabouts lost in the mists of the Revolword Wars, the Royal Guards of Cedrica are guarding an empty throne. Which may prove more dangerous than you should think… Mitgardia Northman Normally, he will be herding reindeer on the plains or icefishing on the frozen lakes of the far north, but when called upon to defend his homeland, he is a fearsome fighter. On top of this, his "moose-in-heat" battlecry is rather fearsome… Dwarven Prospector Some say dwarves have a sixth sence for valuable minerals, while others say its all about hard work in the dark mines. The truth is likely somewhere in between. Merchant Captain From the port of Thorshaven, this seacaptain roams the waters of Historica in an armed merchant vessel, shying away from nothing in the quest for fame and fortune. Well, almost nothing… Is that a seamonster?! Nocturnus Crocman Warrior Born and raised in the Moruth Swamps of Nocturnus, this warrior navigates water as well as land. While undisciplined, he is fearsome in battle. Cyclops Farmer While often overlooked in the annals of history, farmers are who keeps the armies marching. This cyclops farmer tends his crops as tenderly as any elf - Unless they bite back, that is. Orc Warchief Orcs tend to be the cannonfodder of any epic battle, but some do survive the onslaught. Those who survive enough battles to grow old, amass enormous experience and are often chosen as warchiefs. Kaliphlin Faqir Living an ascetic life in the streets of Barqa, this faqir preaches his verson of the teachings of the Aslanic faith. He makes his living on alms and what passers-by pay to see the snake dance to his flute. Gorrian Guardian In the Jungle of Gorr the Abemen resides. The strongest and fiercest of their people are chosen as Guardians of the Jungle and taught to stop for nothing to protect their homelands. Although banana bribes seem to improve their civility… Belly Dancer Assassin This beauty will enchant you with her moves and keep you entertained. But take care not to end up as a name on her contracts, for only few have lived to tell of her true occupation. Avalonia Plains Shepherd From a young age, a peasant's son must take his part in providing for his family. This young boy tends sheep in Avalonian riverlands with the help of his trusty sheepdog. Elven Wanderess In the enchanted forests of the Mystic Isles, the elves dwell, living in perfect harmony with nature. Her eyes appears to be imposing a question upon your mind: Have YOU hugged a tree today? Longbowmen Volunteer When danger strikes the lands, the longbowman levy is called to man the walls. Trained twice a week since childhood, these archers are a force to be reckoned with. All of them will hit the mark at 300 yards. The best of them will split the arrows already sitting in it... Drow Drow Tunnel Runner The Drow tunnels under Historica are constantly patrolled by Tunnel Runners, who may also be carrying whatever communications Drow commanders pass between eachother. Most likely the newest recipe for root stew… Varlyrio Palace Guard Captain The Rego is surrounded by his Palace Guard at all times. This Captain of the Guard keeps the soldiers in check and ensures that every piece of metal is newly polished and shiny. A flashy soldier is a good soldier, the Rego always said! Wealthy Plutocrat The wealth of Varlyrio is based upon the hard work of the entrepreneurial bourgeoisi. These plutocrats rarely chose sides in times of conflict, as profits are best gained through neutrality. _______________________________________________________________________________ I've had these sitting on the shelf since December, and seen a few of my ideas being used by others. (Great minds really do seem to think alike ) Lego even stole my idea for a snake charmer in the newest CMF series! There has been a lot of good entries so far - good luck to all! Feedback is more than welcome!
  23. Beorthan of the Trifork is most honoured to have been included in the runners up for the Avalonian pole position. Architects and builders have been commisioned to ensure that the Trifork will remain a conteder for the coming prizes! It is rumoured that the riverport is nearing completion, as well a brand new mill, and some even say construction has started on a cathedral! Congratulations to the winners - Beorthan sends special regards to his friend and ally Vladivus and his Lord Regent deGothia!
  24. I have the same issue - have my figs ready, just haven't gotten around to posting them yet. And so many of my ideas seems to be taken by others already - and what do you know - even TLG announced their series and have stolen one of my ideas!
  25. But in the meanwhile, there is a multitude of other things to do. Amongst others: HSS task (search for "Historican Settlements") Anniversary cmf challenge University of petraya Avalonian tasks 1-5 (open for avalonians, but can inspire all) Mitgardian AOM task. (open for mitgardians) Freebuilds for the glory of your guild! Probably, I have forgotten some, but you shouldn't run out of things to do anytime soon. Further, there is a lot of builds and story lines to study. :) Have fun and welcome to Historica!
