  1. Thanks all Thanks - I will see if I can get around to taking a picture of that. All that effort and you are impressed by the small barn I put together in half an hour... Thanks, LJ However, the path is not for the wagon, but for the single wheel on the mill, when its turned around to be aligned with the wind. Let's just say it is the sunset light... For some reason, I couldn't get them quite right, and I definitely see what you mean! Thanks, SK - Reminding you of dG? I am definitely taking that as a compliment"
  2. I loved it when I saw it on flickr, and I love it now - There are so many great details, but the overall composition and the completeness of the moc is what really make it stand out for me!
  3. Another Desert King patrol bites the dust... Ambush in the Arkbri Valley For the high council! (Edit: Link added)
  4. In the lush, dense undergrowth of the Arkbri Valley, the easiest way to manouver is often through the streams and irrigations canals crisscrossing the valley. There, vegetation and rock outcroppings are not hindering movement, although leeches, bugs, and the occasional crocodile can make it an unpleasant experience. Sand King Patrol by Beorthan, on Flickr This morning, a Desert King patrol is scouting for hidden routes to the Quenscross, as part of a concerted effort to covertly move forces towards the expected battle of that strategic chokepoint. Little do they know that their patrol is a about to meet an abrupt and violent end... Ambush by Beorthan, on Flickr With a marksmen posted on the cliffside and two seasoned fighters on the ground, Beorthan reckons the ambush will leave the patrol with little chance. Overview by Beorthan, on Flickr My entry for the High Council to Warzone 1: The Arkbri Skirmishes, in Guilds of Historica Book II, Challenge IV I shall await coordination with my faction before chosing which zone to attack next (should I win). Edit: Next warzone: E8, Queenscross On a side note, the description for this area reminded me of the "green zone" around the Helmand river in Afghanistan, so that was my inspiration. The patrols there often walk in the channels.
  5. My favourite build from you so far! Good work, especially the dead guy in the water!
  6. Nice little build! But what zone are you attacking?
  7. We are many who are proud to be fighting alongside the valiant Leander warriors! Great build, and nice posing - one almost feels bad for that mummy...
  8. If it is an irrigation canal dug out in the mud the shape makes sense to me.
  9. Looks interesting, Goliath - looking forward to seeing what efforts Mhinak will put into the war - mayhaps we shall even face each other in battle!
  10. I would like to put up a reminder to all "shield-holders" that they should remember to give the " ", as none of the current builds yet seem to have gotten any thumbs-up. Further, is there any limit as to where you can make guerilla actions? Neutral zones Can it be done in neutral zones or are they excluded? And who does then counter? I would suggest only to allow it in occupied zones. Otherwise, we will have to judge between several factions - which may be interesting, but also complex. City zones Is city zones (worth more than 1 point) excluded from Guerilla action? (To avoid Petreya and others to be spammed with Guerilla builds) Of course, you can easily make a case that those provinces will also be more likely to spark counter-actions, so maybe it is not a problem. I am divided on this point. First come, first serve To avoid multiple guerilla actions from several factions in the same zone (and thus making voting and evaluation overly complex), I suggest that only one faction can take guerilla action in any given province (with any number of builds) on a first come, first serve basis. Let us then say that Ulandus has made 2 guerilla actions in province xy, and the Desert King makes 3 counter actions the following week. Voting can then be based on which faction has done the best effort both in number and quality of builds. (Exact distribution of points should then be established) Alternatively, only one build should be allowed per province per week (1 guerilla and then one counter guerilla the next week.). However, this will require a large degree of coordination within the factions. (Especially for counter guerilla builds that cannot be easily redirected to other zones.) Sorry for all the questions - maybe you have already thought about it, and I have missed it somewhere here. It is a rather complex challenge! You have done an amazing job with this and I am really looking forward for this challenge to really get rolling! I am already having a lot of fun building, planning builds and seeing what others are coming up with!
  11. Those Yukar are definitely grim fighters and even harsher victors! You pulled off the bllod flowing into the stream quite well, although I wonder if it shouldn't be flowing downriver? I think that added detail would give it (another) notch up. The aqueduct and the waterwheel is great, and I really like the patches of plants. That the aquaduct is angled like that nicely breaks up the traditional straight angles of most (well, mine at least ) Lego builds! It would seem the High Council is off to a good start in the first two warzones! For the High Council!
  12. Great kick-off, Ska! Not sure I will be able to get a build up, as I am busy all weekend, but I am really looking forward to seeing the entries! Wouldn't mind getting the title myself! You are definitely keeping us all busy!
  13. Congratz on the first entry! Looks very lush, and the posing is excellent, Gideon. Good to see the Barqa guard mobilised in this war! One wonders what would happen to a mummy, should it fall into the water... (On a side note, I have a build waiting to be photographed that has many similarities to this! GMTA )
  14. University of Petreya - Doctorate Program And welcome, if I haven't said so elsewhere - loved your intro, Rat King!
  15. Ska, I have looked through the rules again, and there is one question I can't find an answer to. Is there any limitations on guerilla builds in terms of size, or is the size of the guerilla build free, but the counter action will then have to stay within the same size? Plus, should guerilla builds be posted in the same thread as other cat C builds? That will make your coordination a bit complex, I would think. Is a thumbs up just a positive comment? I would suggest a specific thing that reviewers must write for approval to avoid confusion. Lastly, I will join in and say a pm-thread for each faction would be nice. And: You are the king of all war gaming! This is awesomazing and fantabulous!
  16. Ser Beorthan and the wealth of the Trifork will support the High Council, as we cannot trust any powerful king or faction on our borders. The Sand King is unlikely to stop at the border, and the First Centurion seems set upon establishing Kaliphlin as a vassal of Ulandus. ===== Second Choice: Sand King
  17. I agree - the posing is great, and the use of the Hulk is great. The story telling is also great and I think it will be worth the wait to hear the next part
  18. As a fan of a song of ice and fire, I am really looking forward to seeing what will be coming out of the north, and whether Mitgardia will be able to stop it! It should seem these times are troubled in Historica - civil wars, dwarves on the war path, new kings and armies in the south, the king gone... And now a strange cold coming in from the Frozen Beyond...
  19. Even though it is quite a lot of text, I can't wait for the next installment - one wonders what is coming in from the Frozen beyond! Nice build and great storytelling - good to see the brothers reunited!
  20. Nice little build, Milo!
  21. New freebuild up: The Mill of the Trifork
  22. The Mill of the Trifork | Bregir | Avalonia
  23. In the middle of New Town, on the north bank of the river, the mill of the Trifork is located. Here grains from a wide area surrounding the Trifork is ground to flour before being shipped off by ship or caravan, sent to the bakeries, sold in the market, or stored in warehouses for times of need. (Or more favourable market conditions...) With a mill inside the walls, the Trifork is well-positioned to build up large stocks of grains and flour, meaning the Trifork rarely suffers in times of war and famine. Further, the traffic of grains going in and flour and bread going out, has established the Trifork as an important market for grains and related products. Avalonian wheat for north west Kaliphlin alone represent an immense volume of trade. Here the miller is loading a wagon with the last few hours of production, which will be going to the bakeries of Old Town south of the river. ====================================================================== This is a build for the HSS challenge. The mill rotates 360o degrees, so it can be turned into the wind. Further, there is a working grindstone inside, turning with the wind. Quite happy with the outcome of this, and looking forward for some feedback.
  24. Looks very cool and unique - Looking forward to hearing the backstory!
  25. Ser Beorthan and the wealth of the Trifork will support the High Council, as we cannot trust any powerful king or faction on our borders. The Sand King is unlikely to stop at the border, and the First Centurion seems set upon establishing Kaliphlin as a vassal of Ulandus. =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= This is amazing, and I really can't wait to get started! It seems I do not have shield, but I will try to sneak that under the radar... How does one qualify? The Trifork is right on the border with Faction one, which I assume is the High Council? I hope to be signed up for that side, but if that is not possible, I will make up a new character for this challenge. Good job, all!
