Hereby a freebuild I've got sitting on a shelf for a looong time. In the Northwest of the Trifork, the Twins command the only river running from the Lake of the Trifork. All the other rivers are upstream from the Lake, supplying it with melting water from the cold north, rainwater from the central plains surrounding Cedrica and muddy waters from the forests of north west Kaliphlin. Via the water locks, the water level of the lake can be managed, including raising it to flood the lowlands south of the Trifork in case of attack or siege, limiting access to one metalled road, easing defenses. The water lock at the Twins is one of two, allowing traffic to pass through with minimal decrease in the water levels of the lake. The second one is upstream in the middle of the city. Apart from the towers themselves, the defenses also include a chain mechanism to block of the river (and to protect the waterlocks in times of peace). This is a build for the HSS challenge. Thanks for looking - C&C welcome

Challenge IV HC Cat B: de Gothia in the Kaliphlin civil war
Bregir replied to de Gothia's topic in Guilds of Historica
As always a pleasure to see your builds, dG! Overall great quality! If yuo are weary of sandy builds, it doesn't show in your output! For the Republic! -
I'd suggest waiting until you have an idea and have started building your first build. But of course we all hope to see you join soon! And you are never forced to build anything more than you want/have time to, so you can join anytime you want! PS: All the cool kids join Avalonia!

[G:A15, HC vs DK] You will not stand alone...

Thanks, Sir Gillian! Really tried to show the rolling waves of the seashore! Thanks, ME! It was fun to experiment with FP, and I might try it sometime again in the future! My poor poor ship... (And brilliant counter!) Thanks, SK - the ship was the first thing I built!- 18 replies

Thanks, Blufiji! It actually have to be that huge to contain a few elves! Happy you like my solution for the tree - I figured it had to be pretty big to hold the cage! Thanks, LJ! The republic never gives up! Well... It is supposed to be hidden in the tree tops, but I definitely see your point! It was pretty hard to conceal - but the forest around it is of course very dense too! Thanks Kai! We Avalonians have a knack for all things nature! *Goes to hug another tree* Well, the cage dropping down is sure to wake them up! Agreed, Adair, and thanks for the nice words! They do - haven't you seen the second photo? Thanks, SK, that was my intention - although it is quite hard to depict a dense forest in such a small build and still make room for such a large cage!

Thanks all - glad you like the unorthodox colourscheme! It is in fact a wonder no one did it before. Nice counter, by the way! And no, we never gave up, and never will! (Barring a few exams... But I will be back in the game soontm!! ) Thanks, SK. The door isn't really meant to be a door, but rather a gate to an inner courtyard or garden, which is why it doesn't reach all the way up. But I see how that isn't clear in the build! Good idea with the black tiles, CD! See my comment above about the door. I am glad you like the dried out waterway that noone else seemed to notice! The tricorne hat is brilliant, and I really don't find it out of place - it is a fantasy setting, afterall! To have inspired an expert like you is great praise, ME! And if you think you can subdue the people with force or bribery, you shall soon find that on the alter of freedom, everything can be sacrificed! Vive le Republique!

Thanks all! Thanks, CB. This "painting" was probably made during high tide, where the ocean water presses back the red outflow from the Red River... Thanks, mrcp6d - The bridge was the focus of this build, so I am glad you like it! Thanks, LJ - those wooden sections took up a fair amount of thinking and tinkering, I can tell you! Glad to hear you like it, CD. As it is a strategically very important point, it is necessary with a concentration of troops! Thanks, Garm! I was thinking of the Battle of Helms deep when I posed them Thanks Kai - it was quite a challenge to make the bottom of the angled corners match! Thanks, SK. The gate actually opens, and I can tell you that the tower isn't the most stable thing in the world! I guess that is what happens when you only build one corner of it!

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Bregir replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Good luck! -
Cool build - it has a lot of details and a very nice overall composition, while still maintaining a wonderful classic feel! I do agree that there are a few unpolished parts, such as the (very) straight stream, but generally, this is a great build! My favourite detail is probably how you used a cape for a blanket! I do not think I have seen that before! "Mylord, We are many in the Trifork who have waited long for Drond's Fields to be returned to its rightful ruler. I shall at once send word to my husbond, from whom I have not long heard news. It is our hope that we can once more establish a close relationship with all it entails in terms of trade, trust and mutual aid. Under the deceptive influence of Gardarron, our relation has declined, trade has dwindled and your people have suffered great heardship, which we have not been able counter. As my husbond is currently fighting alongside the High Council in Kaliphlin, I shall venture to meet you at Relan's Keep at the agreed time. Should I not be able to appear myself, I will send a trusted advisor, with whom you may discuss any arrangement you wish. At your service, and your family's Lady Mariana Acting Lord Mayor in Ser Beorthan's absence" *Sealed with the official seal of the Trifork*

Anybody else noticed how chatty the other guilds are? S'pose they never take the time to hug their trees! Welcome to anyone I haven't yet welcomed! And welcome back to Simon - we shall all be looking forward to having you back for good! I will check it out now! As for Task 5, you should post it in its own topic and then link it in this topic. -
Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Bregir replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
With what has been going on in Nocturnus during the Kaliphlinite civil war, I am very much looking forward to challenge V! While Beorthan has fought on different sides than the host of the Nocturnian resistance, he will still be honoured to assist Lord Vladivus and his allies against the Black Spire! (However, a few months at home might be beneficial before heading of to a new war! ) ((On a sidenote, it seems there is very little support for the Black Spire - I shall be looking forward to seeing how the challenge will be constructed to make the Black Spire an attractive side to join!)) -
Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Bregir replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Was sort of expecting it to continue into "two wives"... But I totally feel with you - Exams stunted my ability to enter anything in the last few warzones. But as they are over on thursday, maybe I will get something in on A, B, and/or D! -
I have a 2/3rds finished build ready, but exams and work are preventing me from finishing it This simply isn't a good period to have the grand finale! Good luck to the participants anyway!

Hereby my entry to warzone 18: The Battle for Eastgate The Eastern Guardian Tower is almost impregnable from land, and commands the entrance to the inner city. Without it, The Desert King cannot hope to take Eastgate. Therefore, he has launched an assault to take the fortified bridge across the river to be able to attack the Eastern Guardian Tower from the back. However, our brave heroes from the Trifork has taken up position on the bastion in the river, prepared to repel any attack with their lives. However, they are not alone, as Kaliphlinite forces are marching across the bridge from the inner city to brace the walls and defend it if breached. This will not be the day that Eastgate falls to the regime of the Desert King. Not if these warriors have their say... __________________________ This was a fun build, although I initially had not included the tower - rereading the warzone description, however, forced me to find a way to include the tower - and considering it is an afterthought, I think it turned out pretty well! C&C is welcome, as always.

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Bregir replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
*A letter arrives by mounted courier* Greetings, Lord Alric Dondril It is our hope that this letter finds you well. Word of plans for your long awaited return to Dron's Fields has reached the Trifork, and has been received with great delight. While the untimely death of your father has been lamented, it has also brought hope to the hearts of those who hope to see Garradon's influence stunted. Our informants suggest that most of your people are anticipating your return and will support your claim to power. Should you wish, you are welcome to grace The Trifork with a visit. We are willing to discuss any assistance you may find useful in returning to your birthlands. However, know that my husband Beorthan, the Lord Mayor, has journeyed south with the main host of our forces to fight for the High Council in the Kaliphlin civil war, and I am currently ruling in his stead. With respect, Lady Mariana, acting Lord Mayor of The Trifork *The letter is sealed with the official seal of the Trifork* OOC: Welcome Alric, it is good to have you here! Especially since no one else seems to have wanted The Trifork for a neighbour yet! I really like how you have interwoven your story with the lore of Historica - can't wait to see more! I suggest you take a look at this recent postabout deeplinking pictures from Flickr, which will allow you to post pictures properly (I am also sure there are a number of tutorials somewhere...) To your questions: 1) The colours are not a requirement, but use is encouraged. 2) As Lord Dan said, our current rulers are Lord Regents deGothia and Simon S. 3) We are not at war with any other guild, although a number of incidents with Mitgardian dwarves (Challenge III) have left the political situation somewhat unclear. However, each Lord and Lady maintain their own connections accros Historica. 4) I believe you can do any of the tasks in any sequence you wish. 5) I think the lands you picked are just fine. 6) We have a large number of members, but the activity level varies from person to person and period to period. Welcome, Aeldric - Nice fig and intro - looking forward to seeing more of your adventures! -
'Tis as I always said - The Desert King is good at one thing, and one thing alone - Opression! Very nice texturing on the wall, Blufiji and I really like the base. The gate do look a tad narrow, though! Nice build

My entry to war zone 19. Arcannon was not of a mind to let his brother's indecision give the Cresenthorn elves a name for cowardice and disloyalty. Knowing that the High Council will maintain the sovereignty of the Cresenthorn Elves, Arcannon has decided to capture hostages amongst his brother's allies to convince him to right his ways and support the Republic. Therefore, Arcannon's trappers have been setting traps all along the regular patrol routes of his brother's troops. Thanks for viewing - C&C welcome

Guerilla against the DK at A12 Not all lands of the Desert King enjoys the divine peace the myths have promised. Thus, not all the people have agreed to give up their freedom for peace and security, and some have risen to rid themselves of the tyrants placed to keep them in check. So is the case in the North East of Kaliphlin, where the populace is revolting against the local governor. At the banks of the dried out river in front of the city hall, they are driving the guards away and about to break down the gate to the residence to the never ending chant: "For the Republic! For the People! For the High Council!"
