  1. Thanks, Garmadon - is interesting to have a you as a shield brother, rather than an opponent, for once Thank you, sir! I have another (finished) moc with deep water, but just haven't had the time. As it unrelated to the Kaliphlin civil war, I have deprioritized it. But I think this technique gives a nice depth to the build! Thanks! And I ensure you, that posing, and then moving the build to be photographed, only to redo it all, was quite a pain! And one thing is posing minifigs on tiles, another is posing them on slightly sloping, irregular tiles! Thank you - glad you like the silo! Originally, it was going to be a watchtower, but it didn't turn out well, so I rethinked it instead Hehe, I see how you could get that impression! Thanks! My interpretation of this warzone was a lush terrain, but not necessarily all of it cultivated for farming. And apart from the river, where the boat lies, there is actually a small stream running under the boardwalk in the back, but I am not sure it shows! Thanks Thanks - found it in a box and thought I might put it to good use! Also became a dome on my Queenscross entry. Thanks, Kai! As I said to Garmadon, it is nice for once to fight alongside the champions of Ulandus! Grazie, mylord! Thanks, Lord Dan - that was exactly the look I was going for. Thanks, SK. Without a border, there is a greater need for some detail on the base, I guess. Glad you like it!
  2. Thanks all, glad you like it! The medical check-ups of the Ulandian intelligence service should definitely be improved! I tried to include some easily recogniseable details, and it was really fun to to try this direct interpretation of someone else's build. I think of this replication as if two different painters had to paint a scene from the same book. So I figured specific details (included in the description) would recur. However, it was a bit of a surprise how much I had actually scaled it down, which only became apparent when I started posing Thanks - I quite liked the wagon too. And that dark red colour is in fact very versatile! At least Ezio does not suffer from the hay fever! Well, I am pretty sure the court martial is going to disagree! Thanks, Cpt. Dee! This is my first counter to directly emulate the original build - I thought it was necessary for it to effectively counter the effects, as Marcu had his agents very close to succeeding! But I am very happy to hear you still think I managed some originality in the build! Also, glad you like the posing - I actually really like that part of the process Glad even our sworn enemies ( ) can appreciate our efforts! When the "real attack" comes, we shall be ready for that too! Thanks guys! Was fun to try someone elses idea for a change Recogniseable, yet different was exactly what I was going for I really like how these new darker colours complement traditional, brighter colours like tan, white, grey, etc. And I do enjoy building wagons, although I find it quite a challenge.
  3. Nice build! I like both idea, story and execution. In my view we may need to be a little flexible in terms of the size requirements, especially for these tiny builds. In this particular instance, it may be too large, though. We shall let the higher powers decide! (Ska) The idea behind that rule was to keep the builds in proportion, not to disqualify a lot of builds :)
  4. You could just divide one of the mocs to show more scenes... Or four scenes around one 16x16 It has been seen before..
  5. Wonderful build, Robuko! The overall composition is nice, I like the tree and the watchtower, and the water looks very swampy. I am not 100% it is intentional, but I assume there is only "one" croc in this build, right? Who is moving really fast, right? One question, though: "Nile" crocs? What is this nile you speak of?
  6. That is a very impressive gate, Jakorin, and I too like the Triangular top - makes me think of classical architecture. The texturing is just perfect, both on the front, side and roof, and I really like your trees. However, what I like the most is how you present the thoughts about facing a superior enemy, fighting for someoneelse's cause on foreign land. It is good to have you on our side, and it is an honour to fight alongside you! For the Republic! For the People!
  7. Counter to Marcu's build at K12
  8. A counter to Marcu's Guerilla. Continued from his build: "But Cedric... There is, arrh, something I forgot to tell you... I suffer from the, Aaaarh, ha-, aaAARrgh, hay-fever! ACHOO!" Overview by Beorthan, on Flickr Moments after the sneeze, the mechanical clanking of the portcullis shutting is heard allover the plaza, and the guards turn towards the spies, apprehending them before they can carry out their sabotage. Apprehension by Beorthan, on Flickr Meanwhile, it seems like Omar Ben Salem has been relieved of some of the weight of his purse... Pickpocket by Beorthan, on Flickr __________________________________________________________ OOC: It was fun to try to reproduce Marcu's build in my own interpretation, and I am pretty happy with the result. I discovered that I had scaled it down a little when I started posing the figs, but I think it worked out fine in the end. C&C is always welcome! For the Republic!
  9. It is never too late to join, sire! Just post your sig fig and back story and get building! And if you are ready to take the big plunge into the Kaliphlin Civil War, there is sure to be a place for you too!
  10. And my entry: Overview by Beorthan, on Flickr http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=109038
  11. Hereby my build for war zone 15: The battle for Amrakect. Should I win, C6 should be the next war zone. It had been a long march since the desperate battle of Queenscross. Circumstances had forced Beorthan to lead his unit, now bolstered by a group of beastmen, out of the city before the outcome of the battle was clear. However, judging by the overwhelming forces thrown into it by the socalled Desert King, Queenscross would be lost. While their own skirmishes had been succesful, and seen many a mummy and goblin slain, they could not quite shake the feeling of defeat from their hearts, as their legs grew weary and Amrakect appeared on the horizon. Already, smoke was rising from the farmsteads and villages surrounding the city, obviously the result of Desert King troops approaching. After entering the city, Beorthan bade his unit to halt for a final rest, before again joining the frey, defending the city. He looked around at his unit and saw the rugged, ready-for-anything expressions you only see on veterans tired of war, but still set to defend their cause. "Will there ever be an end to war?" he thought to himself, before standing up before this troops, clearing his throat. "Even though large tracts of Kaliphlin and many old and famous cities have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Desert King and all the odious apparatus of his depotic rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in the desert, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength. We shall defend every grain of sand, whatever the cost may be..." "...We shall fight at the gates..." "...we shall fight in the streets and in the alleys..." "...we shall fight on the rooftops..." "We shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, Kaliphlin or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then the Guilds beyond the borders, armed and guarded by the brave men and women, would carry on the struggle, until, in Gods' good time, Historica, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the people of Kaliphlin." Pausing for a moment, Beorthan looked around at his troops, all with determined smiles upon the their faces. "FOR THE REPUBLIC! FOR THE PEOPLE!" ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ OOC: First of all, credits go to Winston Churchill for a slightly paraphrased speech. I have tried to emulate Erynlasgalen's style in the corner towers walltexturing, and in the city wall, while still adding something new. (Further, I have taken some inspiration from some of LittleJohn's brilliant Katoren builds. ) I rather like these builds with narrow passageways, but it is a real pain to photograph, which is why I have a included the first picture, where the wall is removed. Hope I have succeeded in presenting the build reasonably well. There are a few extra pictures on my flickr. C&C is always welcome
  12. That is a beautiful little build - and nice to see something not for the challenge! You have packed a lot of nice details into this small build, and I particularly like the awning and the watering trough for the camels. I think you hit the mark pretty well with your Barqan roads, although I wonder if it wouldn't be more obvious, if you had included sidewalk on both sides. And I have got to ask about those helmets
  13. Best road: Mrcp6d And if the Desert King believes we will surrender in the face of his superior numbers, he knows nothing of the strength that lies in the hearts of those that fight for a rightious cause - of those that fight for the people... Vive la Republique!
  14. With yours, MassEditor's and deGothia's builds, the bar has been set very high for this warzone! I particularly like the fountain and the minarets on the main building, but there are so many nice details all over! I am not even sure I dare to put in a build now...
  15. Your advantage in numbers will not deter us from fighting! http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=109003 For the Republic! For the People!
  16. Hereby my entry for war zone 12. If I should win, I6 should be the next warzone. Unaware of the treaty signed between Ulandus and the High Council to secure food supplies to Ras-el-Akhen, the Desert King's commanders have sent out patrols to secure strategic points in the Inner Loop. This particular patrol has been tasked with looting a grain silo to fill the supply trains for the Desert King Army. Mummy corporal: "The Ulandian troops are holed up in the city trying to hold the gates... They will not have the troops to guard every little silo... This will be a piece of cake!" Mummy soldier: "Those flags, sir... aren't they...?" Mummy corporal: Sure does look like High Council colours... but that makes no sence... What the ....?!? High Council Sergeant: Hands up, you dustbags! SOLDIERS, TO ME! I wouldn't suggest reaching for that weapon, you piece of Desert Scum! Protecting the food supplies by Beorthan, on Flickr The Desert King will not see his supplies bolstered this day. Even facing vastly superior numbers, the High Council will keep up the fight for the Republic and for the people! And without figs. Protecting the food supplies by Beorthan, on Flickr As always, C&C is welcome. Those boardwalks were fun to build, but posing the soldiers on the afterwards was a pain in the #¤#%!
  17. I like the rounded rockwork, and the story is very nice! (although I need to concetrate a bit to understand that dialect! ) Great idea to have them buried - and I hope your people will get closer to finding what they seek!
  18. Thanks all - I think you guys are a bit happier about this build than I am - but I forgive you! How can one forget the bloody battle of the Nestlands? However, what is once lost can be regained! (I am pretty sure we can fight for the same zone again.) Thanks, Captain Dee - those light blue bricks are the result of a visit to a far away Lego-store Thanks a lot, LJ! The gardens are really a result of a lack of tiles - I needed something to fill in the space! Thanks, Robuko. The idea is that the arch is sitting in the middle of the square in front of the arcade, but it did get a little cramped Thanks, mrcp6d - I am glad you like it - And where better to fight for the republic than where the daily trade takes place? Thank you, Kai - This challenge is really putting us all to the test and forces us out of our comfort zone! Glad you like the Arch! Thanks - I think that is my first frame that elaborate! Glad you like the colour scheme - had my doubts, myself! :) Thanks, ME - as I said elsewhere, the garden was mainly included to cover up my lack of tiles! I definitely see what you mean about the composure - it was a real trouble photographing it - but those issues are not too obvious when you see the build "in the brick".... Have the same problem with an upcoming Amraket build... Thank you, SK - I like builds that are not too open, but they are a true pain to photograph! We sure are a small minority against an overwhelming enemy! But we shall not falter or surrender! Vive la Republique!! I am sure there are several larger triumphal arches in Queenscross - this was erected by the merchants, who are likely to be somewhat cheap!
  19. Best high desert foliage (covered in blood…): Dr. Cogg Best Transformer: Kai Thank you I am very honoured, mylord! *bows* No probs - and for you for helping Ska out!
  20. This is so beautiful a depiction of Avalonia I just have to go hug a tree! Way to make a fantastic first impression - You have packed so many cool details onto that irregular base. My absolute favourite is the house, but other highlights are the goat enclosure, the tools on the side of the house and that marvellous story! It is good to have you in Avalonia, and I cannot wait to see what adventures Sebastian will find in Historica!
  21. There is no name/headline on my entry, ME
  22. Don't you know, Andrew? A vote is never late, nor is it early - It arrives exactly when it is meant to! (I am sure it will be here in due time)
  23. Let's not make this a discussion about Kai's (or anyone else's) personal points. However, generally speaking, setting the counters free, will of course require lowering the number of points rewarded per counter. (For instance one per counter, two if your side win.) (On a sidenote, no limit on counter's isn't meant to mean you can counter the same build multiple times. Of course each builder should only be allowd one counter per guerilla build. )
