The wall is looking really cool, although the crenelations are different from anything I have ever seen before! That effect of a portal being opened/the wall being dissolved is great!

Book II, Chal IV - Kaliphlin Civil War (Results Posted)
Bregir replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Was any decision taken in terms of limiting the number of Guerillas per builder, or do we keep the "one week per guerilla"?- 272 replies

They are not - YET...

Sounds really cool! And I really hope the High Council will be able to participate in this challenge. (I suppose we would also be able to participate, if we otherwise manage to gain access? Of course without the "March to the Sea" condition, if we do not win the other zone.) Someone needs to fight for the people! Vive la Republique!

I'd like to see Osric Irontooth lead his siegetower across that ditch! And thanks! Thank you, Gideon. In fact the engineer was a last minute addition, as the whole thing seemed a bit disorganised without him Thanks for the feedback on the photos!! I am using a tripod, which allows for the longer shutter time. I think the close up pictures are nice and sharp here, but the overview picture seems blurry - and yes - the background isn't perfect. I seem to remember you are using a greyish rollerblind? I should probably sneak by IKEA at some point... And looking up product photography is a great idea - I might even be able to pass it off as work! Glad you like it, Elostirion. I tried to finish the build off nicely with details all around. The machine actually works, and I struggled quite a bit with getting it right, but the result payed off in the end, I think. About the helmets: Health and safety first! The High Council is highly concerned with the well-being of it's citizens and soldiers! Thanks, LJ - That wall was very different from anything I have tried before, but after looking up what little I could find of Eastgate, white with colourfull accent and a rather "clean" architecture seemed to be the way to go (And Ska's WIP of Eastgate has some VERY tall walls... ) Glad you like the hammer. As I said, it was a long journey to get to the final result! About posing - it is remarkably hard to pose a minifig holding a pick or a showel with both hands! So it is nice to hear I succeeded! You should never compromise with health and safety!! Do you think it is just some window dressing?!? Thanks, Blufiji! As I said above, it's no easy task! Thanks, Kai. Had I had more room(/time/skill), I would have shown a part with the sharpened poles mounted too And thanks for the photography advice - but do you think I am made of money?!? Thanks, ME! Well, Jacob's (great) guerilla had the same footprint, so I had some space to work with. I am glad you think I hit the mark with my interpretation of the Eastgate look - and reg. height - It did take up quite a lot of white bricks, but it is still nothing compared to Ska's Eastgate WIP. It was my goal to have a busy scene of the people working together to improve the defences - and I guessed the ditch wouldn't work without some support - which again spawned the log-hammer device. (best name for it yet... ) Reg: Photos: Will do. We shall fight in the dunes, we shall fight in the forests. We shall fight at the walls, and in the streets. We shall even fight from improsnment or exile, if need be! For the People, for the Republic!

You Have A Wall ... We Have A Runk! [WZ6: B7, Desert King]
Bregir replied to Umbra-Manis's topic in Guilds of Historica
When that wall is pulled down and that guard lands next to the "Runk", he is definitely in for a surprise. And will find out what a Runk is, and whether it is hungry for croissant or for... him... Funny idea and nice "Runk" -
Congrats Collectable Minifigs Contest Winners!

There was so many great entries, it was really hard to decide! So much great inspiration. Congratz to the winners! -
An indication of who chose which warzones (which team/gamemaster) might help avoid this confusion. @Robuko: I do not have the impression that there is anything imbalanced in this challenge, however, I am happy to admit I have more or less lost the overview of the whole thing... However, as gamemaster, I understand why Ska would chose significant cities (storywise) and why he might chose a few DK zones, as you have been dominating so far. I think this is an awesome challenge, but I hope we can all play it for fun - I have seem some indications that some might be getting too worked up about who is voting for who, and who is winning when and where. (This is a general observation, not directed at you, Robuko.)

[CG: O16 U vs DK] Ancient Power Called Forth
Bregir replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
That is a fantastic shrine, Rogue Angel! Would love to see a few more angles of it - Am I right in that it is a coyote's head (or similar)? And I never thought I would see those spaceage cockpits used in Historica! Very creative - and as LittleJhos say, it gives a very cool effect! -
Never trust a clergyman! Cool looking tower, although if that is all of it, that temple won't hold much of a congregation!
-
Another great build, Narbilu! Your rounded bastions and landscaping is great, and I really like the way you have made the water flow around the bastions. Looks like the river flows quite rapidly around them!

You will find we are not so easily swayed - we shall not give up territory for a few pieces of gold or a signature from some clerk! Other than that - great build - its a lovely little scene

[WZ6:B7, Ulandus] Defending Northwall
Bregir replied to Robin Creations's topic in Guilds of Historica
This is a great looking wall, Robin - you have achieved a great blend of colours and a very nice level of texturing/greebling of the wall. My favourite detail is the crenelations and how the towers have some subtle differences in the top part, as if time has had a different effect on them! Great work! -
[WZ6:B7, Ulandus] Mummies Aren't Good at Math
Bregir replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
Overall really nice build! Both the cliffs and the wall look great, and those crenelations are very inventive! And that crossbow sticking out is a great detail! -
[WZ5:I10, Ulandus] Camping on the Desert Sands
Bregir replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
Cool sandscape - and about the bones showing - since the sandscape is pretty flat, it could looks as if it had just been swept clear by a sandstorm, which would also explain why so many bones have been uncovered! -
I love these microships, and had I not been taken up with another counter, I would definitely have tried my hand with this! Just one comment, that I also gave Garmadon on his ships. The brig (two mast, square rigged vessel) should have the most rigging on the foremost mast (the mainmast for a brig) - otherwise the balance in the ship will be terrible!
-
I love the troops, but what is even cooler is the whole backstory you are building up around their rise to power. And that you are linking it to Nar Bilu's ongoing story is just fantastic! I have only one critisism: You clearly chose the wrong side in this war! @Jacob: Would be cool to see the Wingless Serpents fight it out with the merciless troops of the Rat King!

[CG:K19; U vs. DK] It does not require ancient power...
Bregir replied to Elostirion's topic in Guilds of Historica
I was wondering how this would be countered! Great work, and your background with blue and sand coloured paper works really well in creating a horizon and sky for the backdrop. -
I really like how you have created a whole race and are working to elaborate the lore behind them. Plus, you are cranking out fantastic builds, including the ones in the challenge, where you fit in the Rat People. Great work!

After reports of heavy siege equipment and chariots being positioned for an attack on Eastgate, the city council has commissioned improvements to the defences. After the long conflict between Dugal and Petera, the city defenses have been somewhat battered, and no improvements have been possible. However, as the brothers are now united against the High Council's enemies, the populace, craftsmen, and soldiers of Eastgate are eager to avoid a new, unpleasant siege, and even more eager to avoid a violent assault from the savage troops of the Desert King. Therefore, they have flocked to the defenseworks to lend their hands. Defences of Eastgate by Beorthan, on Flickr In order to hold off the heavy equipment necessary to storm the tall, strong defenses of the inner City of Eastgate, a military engineer has proposed a defensive ditch, which will stop any heavy equipment, or topple it over, should it try to approach the walls. Defences of Eastgate by Beorthan, on Flickr To support and strengthen the ditch, a wooden wall is erected, supported by heavy logs driven into the hard sandstone ground. In order to drive them in, a heavy hammering contraption is being used. As its operators crank the handles, the heavy iron hammer is lifted, to be released at full height, falling down on the log with all its weight, driving the log in by another notch. Defences of Eastgate by Beorthan, on Flickr Should someone try to storm the ditch, Eastgate will still stand ready. A poleturner is sharpening poles to be placed at the defensive end of the ditch, which will be enough to drive off any beast. Defences of Eastgate by Beorthan, on Flickr An overview shot: Defences of Eastgate by Beorthan, on Flickr I know the pics aren't perfect, and I am somewhat stumped as to how improve them. I seem to have tried every setting on my camera However, I think the build turned out pretty well C&C is more than welcome

Just a thought: By my reckoning, Ulandus should be able to participate in the second battle of the Queenscross, as they can access it through neutral territory. Isn't that what the rules say?

Book II, Chal IV - Kaliphlin Civil War (Results Posted)
Bregir replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Maybe "doubling" all deadlines would take the pressure of builders and organizer abit? However, while I would suggest warzones and Guerilla's are doubled (e.i. one guerilla/2 weeks), counter guerilla's could be kept at one per week to avoid inbalances. (Guerilla's can be made when you have the time - counters are more of a pressure...) I am a bit concerned with stressing out builders too. On the other hand, maybe we just need to accept we can't build for it all, and find a suitable level?- 272 replies

[G:J16, U vs HC] Returning With the Spoils
Bregir replied to Garmadon's topic in Guilds of Historica
Really cool microship, Garmadon! Unfortunately, I wont be able to counter it, as I am occupied elsewhere. Would have loved to try my hand at this! :) Only one criticism: A brig would always have the most sails on the foremost mast. With the most sailpressure aft of the center, it will be quite impossible to steer... ;) Possibly the reason why the Ulandians haven't made it through the void tide until now... :P- 20 replies
