Nice figs and loads of the animals Always great to see a glimpse of the excellent Kaliphlinite road network, second to none in Historica!

Book II Challenge V Final Prelude: Beggar's Inn
Gideon replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Lovely build and excellent story! Intriguing with that unknown pretender to the throne, I did not expect that development! Can't wait for the challenge to be announced -
Book II Challenge V Prelude: Alguroran
Gideon replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
Lovely grayscale and eerily blue color scheme! Great story too Some innovative details too, I especially like those stairs and the crenelations. But one question can't get out of my head, why is there only snow below the fortress and not a bit on the walls...? -
I posted my sigfig intro on February 25th 2013

Great work! And nice logos I too like the EB star version quite a lot. All of this really makes me want to get back into building in general, and GoH in particular. But while I'm still in a bit of a mini-dark age I have at least compiled an almost finished MOC index with some connecting text of all my GoH builds which I intend to post soon when I'm celebrating 4 years of GoH participation

Fantastic build! I especially like the bridge with those white turntable bases
-
Nice overall design and color scheme! Which color is that under the trans plates for the water? My only nitpick is that the sand green is too evenly distributed, it almost looks like a pattern. In reality it would be more uneven and probably more concentrated towards the lower part of the building.

Retribution [Book II, Chapter V: Prelude, Part IV]

Great story, you are really setting things up nicely for the challenge! Very well illustrated too, you are using those light and smoke effects very effectively (The third picture doesn't show to me however, wrong flickr permissions on it? I can however click it and ge to the full sized version on flickr both logged in an not logged in.) -
Nice big interior, lots of details to like here One thing I like is how you've used the arches to create the impression of vaulted ceilings. Often people build cross-sections of interiors without considering how thick a medieval ceiling has to be to support the next level...

Never Look Back [Book II, Chapter V: Prelude, Part III]
Gideon replied to MassEditor's topic in Guilds of Historica
Excellent builds and great story! I love the brutal "eat or be eaten" depiction of Nocturnus Regarding the fog, what is it running on? I would love to try to experiment with fog effects sometime, but I've heard people complaining that at least oil-based fog machines are leaving a nasty greasy surface on the bricks... -

Great illustration of a long-awaited start of chapter V! This is just what I needed to get back into GoH again- 27 replies

Very nice tree I think the sand technique turned out ok, but it will probably work better at a significantly larger scale. Definitely has potential for one of those parts-intensive exhibition builds!

This build is so great in so many ways, fantastic work The only slight suggestion for improvement (in true GoH spirit) I could think of would be to have the road and open area not as regularly studded, maybe mix plates and tiles or something like that to make a more even surface (while yet keeping some texture)? Keep on building!

Lovely landscape, I especially like those semi-alien looking glowing flowers
-
Thanks for sharing your secrets! It would be nice to try this technique with lots of flexible hoses as well, might make the shapes even more organic...?
-
Interesting story developments and nice figbarfs with suitable surroundings I'll however give my usual photo advice that the perspective generally looks much better if you back the camera away a few more feet and zoom in instead.
-
Wow! The feeling you've captured in this build is fantastic Of all the nice details, the archery targets are probably my favorite. Great use of those printed round tiles inside the round plates!
-
Nice fortified house, I can definitely envision a minor lord making his home there As always, the photography is also flawless. A couple of minor remarks however: The spacing between the sand green mottling is a tad too even and the size of the specks as well, leading to a somewhat repetitive pattern. I also find it a bit strange that the vertical beams of the Tudor section are narrower than the blue plaster, maybe if that would have been offset half a stud it would have looked perfect with those uneven vertical beams

Excellent display! I love how full of details you've managed to pack it Between Ecc's build at Brickworld and this one, Mitgardia seems stronger than ever at those conventions!

Very nice composition of the build, and some nice details UoP +1

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Gideon replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Welcome to the splendid lands of the South! We don't care what your background is as long as you bring trade and prosperity to our ports You are welcome to trade in Barqa at any time! OoC: Interesting with a marine sigfig, we have not seen a lot of those around here despite the fact that sea travel is very important in Historica... -

Excellent build overall and great shaping of both the towers and the landscape! I particularly like how you have added some texture to the round towers, necessary since that technique otherwise renders a bit too repetitive surface
-
Nice lighting!
