  3. Name: Stormhaven Ownership: The Crown of Corrington Location: Serentia Mayor: Jack Bain Trade Value: see accounts sheet Stationed Vessels: none Known Native Fauna: crocodiles, seagulls, crabs, fish (various species), mosquitos, Known Native Flora: mangroves, Who can own property in Stormhaven: Citizens of Corrington, Eslandola, Sea Rats who wish to remain at peace with the Empire of Corrington. Unfortunately because of the Coyle families history with Oleon, Oleon citizens are not allowed to own land in Stormhaven. (This may change depending on faction relations) Who can freebuild in Stormhaven: Anyone Maps: Location: City Map: Description: Founded in March 616 by the Coyle family in cooperation with the Royal Society of Navigation and Discovery. Located in Stormhaven Cove on the southwestern coast of Serentia, Stormhaven currently is nothing more than a small fort, docks, and lots of raised wooden walkways. The Coyle family hope to turn it into a bustling trading outpost for nearby farms, ranches, or plantations that are inland on better land. Because of the marshes, all the buildings within the settlement limits are required to be basically stilt houses. However, it is within the settlement limits that population from the neighboring plantations, farms, and ranches will gather to trade their wares with merchants coming from other islands and the old world so a handful of buildings are being constructed to provide shelter for the surrounding population when they are in town. Stormhaven at present is most definitely not a paradise like the settlements in Cocovia. It is a hot and humid place a good portion of the year, where the potable water must be brought down river in barrels or from a well on one of the nearby plantations. Insects swarm and fever is common. However as its name implies, it is currently the only port within nearly 400 miles that offers ships a safe haven from storms. Geographical Features of Serentia: The coasts are heavily populated by mangrove trees, and the island itself seems almost impenetrable. The northwest portion of the island seems to have a suitable bay, and there is perhaps another site on the south side of the island. The thick forests and swampy marshes of the island, where most of the water is brackish or saltwater, raise the natural temperature of the interior 10 to 20 degrees. From the ocean, one can see that there are a few large mountains in the central portion of the island. Rumors: There is a small Mardier fort on a small island off the NW coast of the island. Now abandoned. It is thought that Mardier had claimed the island, but the adventurer and his party had succumbed to something on the main island before coming back to Terraversa. The soils are very much like Terraversa, and there are rumors that vast mineral wealth is abundant within the mainland. It is a huge island, and is comparable to Terraversa. Sugar should grow well here. Builds in Stormhaven: (Please help me out by posting a link to your Stormhaven builds in this thread.) 4. My two cents for whatever it is worth. I strongly disagree in putting any form of reward or penalty on build quality. Lego is an art not a skill. What is better to one may not be to another. EB is a place to display your MOCs online no matter what quality, not a school for becoming the next Lego designer. If you don''t like something, don't comment on it. I have personally found comments useless as they are usually out of my current control- more time, different pieces that I don't have, etc. If you are not going to keep your model on display, what is the point of improving it? Just build something better next time. I cannot emphasize enough that building Lego is an art. It is expressing what you want to portray using the modular medium of Lego. There is no right or wrong way of building. It is 100% subjective and a matter of personal taste. Let people be free to express themselves in whatever form they want no matter how rudimentary it turns out to be. The game aspect in my opinion is only to add some extra fun and to add a unifying factor to the pirate community where all builds have some sort of relativity to the next.
  5. Well, Corrington's choice to play it safe might have saved quite a few ships but also gave mediocre results for the most part when viewed next to Oleon's 2 top runs. Thanks Ska for the early report! Now time to start the April planning.
  6. Really nice alternative! I would love to see a village of buildings built in this style!
  7. Its not even the 3rd yet (well, where I am at least)... Perhaps Skaday will come early this month?
  8. Nice build and story colab!
  9. I keep a list that I update but I never saw the Lover's Quarrel licensed. I must have missed it.
  10. Nice builds and story! Looking forward to see where this leads...
  11. [COR-CH2A] Fort Coyle in Stormhaven, Serentia | Mike S | Corrington [COR-CH2A] Battle at the fallen tree | Mike S | Corrington
  12. The log of Captain Aiden Coyle. 30th March 616: Our initial expedition inland was cut short prematurely. We had scarcely trekked a couple hours inland when at a fallen tree we were set upon by a band of natives. Kaan says they are Quatlicyei, the followers of the serpent god Quatlicu who supposedly takes the form of a gigantic serpent that devours humans sacrificed to it whole. Kaan says that the god they worship, Balam, is enemy to Quatlicu and that once the Quatlicyei were part of the Nayamon but were poisoned by Quatlicu and now serve him instead of Balam. It is all a bit confusing but at least we survived the attack with nary a scratch. I have double the watch at Fort Coyle as we now must build fortifications to protect us from inland as well as from the sea. END OF ENTRY
  13. The log of Captain Aiden Coyle. 28th March 616: Once again, it has been some time since I have written in my log. Having been offered and thereafter humbly accepting the position of representative of Tiberia in the House of Representations with the duties of trade organizer, my life seemed to be finally regaining the stability that our family had lost with the tragic events that we had been forced to endure in Oleon. That is until my brother Simon showed up at my door in Arlinsport. It had been nearly a decade since I had last seen him before he departed on an archeological expedition to one of the southern nations. Evidently the dishonor of our family name in Oleon had given cause for his sponsors to distance themselves from him so his funding was cut off forcing him to return to find another source of funding. While I was happy to see him, I was annoyed that the only reason he had returned was to gain another source of funding for his expedition. He told me of his findings and assured me that he was just about to make a discovery of a lifetime. I was not convinced however. Having been recently penniless, I still did not feel financially secure enough to throw doubloons toward an endeavor that was so far from home. I instead offered Simon a counteroffer. The Queen wanted to establish Corrington sovereignty on a new island that had been discovered. If my brother wanted me to help fund his expedition, he first needed to help me map this new island. He tried persuading me to change my mind saying that he needed to return immediately on his expedition, else someone would steal his discovery. I remained unmovable. Having agreed to help me, we made preparations for founding a settlement in Serentia to supply our expeditions to map the island. Upon arriving at the island of Serentia, we found evidence that other had been there before us. There was an abandoned Mardier fort on one of the small islands on Serentia's northern coast. We also found a flag left by an Oleon expedition. I didn't like the layout of the northern coast as there were no rivers into the interior so I had our ships sail around to the southern coast where we found a sheltered cove we named Stormhaven. There was a river leading into the interior so I chose a spot near its mouth and began construction on the first building of our new settlement: a fort. The coasts of Serentia are heavily bordered by mangroves and it was no different here. Because of the lack of suitable high land, I decided to build the fort on top of posts connected to a dock and the inland by a series of raised walkways. I instructed our engineers to build the dock wide and sturdy enough for a battery of rotating cannons. Tutut who had asked to come along with us when we had stopped in at Port Raleigh to resupply seemed quite impressed. His Nayamon companion whom he had brought with him to be our guide inland on the other hand did not seem to be impressed. However he did gather some local herbs for us to burn in our lanterns to help repel the insects that never ceased to swarm around us. We plan to travel a bit further inland tomorrow, so I had best get some rest now. END OF ENTRY

  15. Congrats! Its about time...
  16. Some nice piece usage here! While the tree might not be realistic, I like the fact that you applied that technique for a new purpose and I think it turned out great!
  17. Fine additions to Amelia Street! Nice work!
  18. I thought we already realized that... There are already so many builds being posted online in various places, so if I'm going to take up your time to present something to you, it hopefully will be worth your time to view.
  19. Well even me being on the K-team, I think this is a hilarious build! Nicely played!
  20. Great to see you over here in BoBS! Oleon does need more members but so do the Sea Rats and well, knowing your character over in GoH, joining the Sea Rats makes perfect sense
