Very similar to the movie scene, great job recreating those rocks And dark green was the perfect color choice for the ground

Thanks UM, sometimes I think that if I could only make 1 type of MOC, that it would be towers

This looks Asian, yet futuristic too Great use of those large curved parts for the roofline, and the entrance detailing is superb
-
You really did well achieving a sci-fi city look The vehicles are all sweet, with good parts use and shaping. Great minifigure combos as well
-
Excellent micro detailing The lava canal, monorail, and skybridge are my favorite sections. Cool shapes for the two main buildings as well

Thanks Mpyromaxos!

Yup, opening builds are great! I like the more subtly textured stonework you used here, and open arched look is also very nice Lovely interior as well, with the staircase and weapon racks. Did you use window lattices to hold the swords?

The fireplace with shield and sword hanging over it looks nice A picture showing the whole build at once would be nice, to give us a better idea of how everything fits together EDIT: Whoops, missed the extra pictures in the spoiler I like the town wall with gate, and how you did extra wooden supports there. The tower being set at an angle is neat, but the loose plates around the bottom look rather messy.

Right, entries only need to be posted in the flickr group in the proper topic

The Summer Joust is a castle contest with 6 different categories that is open May 1st-June 30th 2016. There is a large prize pool with prizes for each category plus some individual awards. Categories: Natural Beauty: Show us a beautiful landscape, whether that be a peaceful forest glade, thundering waterfall, or blistering desert. The emphasis is on nature, so man made buildings shouldn't be the focus. Ruins being overgrown, or such like, is permissible. Faction Action: Take an existing Lego castle theme/faction and tell your version of their story with the build. Something like the Dragon Knights catching a dragon, Forest-men robbing the rich,or Crown soldiers defending the royal castle. Any Castle faction is fair game, even Collectible Minifigure Series factions. Historian: Recreate a real historical event, or building from medieval times. Ideas include, battles, castles, manors, houses, treaties, and feasts. Reference what your build is based on. 476-1500 AD is the time-frame we're looking for. Guild Creation: Assemble a team of builders, and create your own faction and develop the buildings, landscape, and lifestyle of this group through multiple creations. Realistic, or fantasy factions are acceptable. Teams should consist of 2-4 members, and a maximum of 4 builds is allowed for the category. So if you have 4 team members, each person would create 1 build. If you only have two members, each can create 2 builds, and so on. Castle Interior(s): Show what goes on inside the castle with an interior scene. Anything from daily life to holiday celebrations, as long as it is inside the castle. Building an interior and exterior in the same build is permissible, but the focus should be on the interior. Vignette: Create any medieval scene you can imagine, only one catch, it has to fit on an 8x8 base. Minimum overhang allowed, for things like tree branches and fig accessories. Some of the prizes that are up for grabs: Check out the full rules and details in the dedicated flickr group, Then get to building some great Castle MOCs!

Guilds of Historica New Member Guide
soccerkid6 replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
There have a been a couple posts about this already in the Avalonian and Kaliphlin threads, but I wanted to let the GoH community know that there's a group of us Castle builders (including several GoH guys) hosting a Castle contest on flickr. Check out all the categories, rules, and great prizes, here: link And here's a joust build I whipped up to serve as the announcement poster: Guilds of Historica builds are more than welcome, as long as they haven't been posted online or shown publicly before May 1st 2016. -
Wow, fabulous use of color here The fig combo and mount are great too The crystal is quite an impressive use of parts

[MOC] The Sleeping Dragon Inn
soccerkid6 replied to Etzel's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Lovely expansion/remake of Starlight Inn.Great details all around, but the way you have headlight bricks with cheese slopes on the front wall really stood out to me Superb interior as well, with details like a woodpile, cozy bed, and telescope it looks like quite a comfortable home -
Terrific build all around, everything works together to make a very pretty whole The boats and new round arch thing are a highlight of course, but I also really like the large macaroni bricks over the back doors, and the little outhouse

As Garmadon said, more light would benefit your pictures and should help cut down on the graininess. Shooting in natural light is likely the easiest way, whether outside, or in a well lit interior room. Another way to make your pictures brighter, is to slow the exposure time, though you'll need a tripod to hold the camera steady. I shoot all my pictures in our solar porch with a fabric background and then do some post editing to brightness/contrast and sometimes the colors in GIMP. I still consider myself very much an amateur photographer as there is a ton to photography, and always more to learn. I'm sure there are several people willing to go into even more detail about it if you're interested, I'd be glad to help with what little I know

The Katoren Struggle: Ch. 1: Secretive Plans

[OL - FB4] A River Runs Through It
soccerkid6 replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Quite a pretty landscape scene The trees and stream make the build look quite lively, and you have some great fig posing, especially for a digital build -
Man, you are improving so quickly! The covered bridge looks fabulous, I like how you added some extra decoration to the peak You're getting better and better at mixing some sections of border with irregular edges. And the castle itself looks great with the angled wall, and gorgeous covered battlements The door, and cook's oven inside are nice touches too. I think one of the biggest things for you to work on now, is getting better pictures to show off you excellent builds. Are you doing any post editing with a program like GIMP, or Photoshop? That can help a lot, and also a smoother backdrop, perhaps cloth, or a larger sheet of paper so there's no seam. Keep up the good work

Thank you, and given the several requests I've received, I may indeed put it up on LEGO ideas.

Thanks Full Plate! The rockwork was one of my favorite sections of this build Thanks Jakorin, glad to hear you like it Thanks!

This guide should help your picture trouble: link Very cool market stall, I like how you're incorporating the Mitgardian colors The little bush/trees you included are neat as well
