At least for me as a german citizen I would recommend to pay a few bugs more, because all German companies have to offer a "Gewährleistung" (1 year) - don't mistake this with the warranty from the vendor (if any).. If one of the product fails, the shop HAS TO give you a replacement (they are allowed to have two tries of replacements / repairs before one as the buyer is eligible to ask for payback of 100% of the product price).

There are some usecases where more sturdy parts come in handy. Imagine a fixed driving axle for left and right wheel with an off-centered gear. Plastic axles tend to flex for one of the wheels when you start to accelerate. Also I am a huge fan of the ballbeared liftarm too - this part alone made a one-swingarm construction working - opening more possibilities for rc motorcycle builds. But generally with the gears it will be true that a metal part will just move the wear to its plastic countergear.

@keymaker Keep on guessing on quality without having own experiences please - the internet definitely needs more guys of that kind... 🤦♂️ Edit: I wont drop any more posts for discussions with you here, its just not worth it... you build with LEGO and I don't blame you for this anyhow - re-read your post and think why you are giving others the feeling you are not knowing what you are talking about. your answer just verified that. So please troll another person with your nonsense, idc :)

Those are made of steel, I never found that vendor - do you have a link by any chance so I can add them to the list? I have a vide variety of parts from MTP till now and was able to test out shorter beams, the ballbeared 5L beam and aswell their aluminium axles. All are 100% compatible with Lego Pins and hold them very strong. Things which I have already bought but wasn't able to test them out: 8T, 16T gears and the 12T beveled ones for the differentials.

Hello beloved EB community, I would like to start this thread to have a distinct place where people can discuss metal parts from different manufacturers and speak about your experiences with those parts. List of current vendors which offer metal parts: Metal Technic Parts / MTP (formerly known from the companys main brandname "DarkIceDesigns") Brick Machine Shop (California, USA - discontinued) ZENE Bricks Brand Metal Technic Parts (MTP) General information "Metal Technic Parts" is a rebranding of the company DarkIceDesigns' products. They started with liftarms/beams and axles and have expanded their products by gears and other useful parts. Statement for the exact type of aluminium and how they are machined from the vendor: The company resides in the UK and offers an online-shop where users can order their products. Details of their products are shown in the spoiler: Update 09.08.2022: Added pictures & videos in Spoilers Update 11.10.2022: Removed discontinued currently not available threaded M5 Axle & added 5.5L Axle with stop Update 15.03.2023: Added more prototype gears and other new parts Update 11.05.2023: Added Metal Differential, ammended new 8T picture, added info about sold out prototype products Update 19.10.2024: Exchanged images for v2 series for some gears & updated their availability status; Added 56t turntable Update 31.10.2024: Added Metal Wheelhubs Brand Zene Bricks Homepage: https://www.zenebricks.com/ General information "ZENE Bricks" is brand started by user @ZENE (please give me some more information for where you are located and what you like to share to us!). ZENE is offering parts with the focus of closing gaps to use high performance & RC equipment together with LEGO bricks, so the offer differentials made out of metal parts with custom closed housings. Also they have ballbeared wheelhubs in their inventory. Besides metal parts they also create Lightkits to known sets (the lightkits are out of scope for this thread obviously 🙄). From Zene: Details of their products are shown in the spoiler: If you know any company which shall be listed in this main post, hit me up with a message, so I can add the vendor to the list (please check before mentioning them if their products don't infringe any copyrights!). FYI, got permission from @Jim to create this topic in this category, thanks again for helping out!

@gyenesvi Thanks for the update and the details. If it is outsourced, they should have some money planned to a certain amount of time for the ext. company. Maybe just asking kindly to deliver the features which were (maybe) promised to Buwizz in a certain amount of time/cost. Its easy to point towards the external company, but I think as being the client to the ext. company you can expect them to deliver - otherwise they will laugh about you burning money into them. I had two ideas since I posted my kind-of "ranting" post: Doing a Google Forms Poll for users from this thread to just set one single question like "I would like to have more frequent updates about upcoming app & firmware development" with a yes/no option to strengthen up our voice as a community of their customers. (I don't know if it is possible to do polls here in EB directly or if it is generally wanted if for e.g. me setting a Google Forms Poll for this) Writing an mail to Buwizz to ask if they need support in communication with the external company, because I am an senior system-engineer in a development-team, because I think the Buwizz-team may not be developers for themselves and maybe fooled by the external company telling bs-reasons to just earn money by doing nothing Edit: Created a poll, just a preview of how it could look: One thing there: Without asking for an email address this poll could easily be manipulated in one or the other way - on the other hand I am an IT guy and I really don't want to gather email-addresses (which I wouldn't make use of anyways, but people have to trust me on this, or others may not participate..) Any opinions welcome.

Instead of Buwizz doing weekly YT videos, I would really like to see Buwizz doing some (regular) updates on the 2022/Q1 app milestones which were introduces back then. The longer this lags behind with any updates (we are in Q3 already) for me it gives the bad taste of having poor support from the vendor. I know that app development may be difficult - nevertheless giving honest PR to the customers is on another page and I would really appreciate some updates there. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect all introduced features to be delivered in notime, but at least I would appreciate some regular updates to see for myself if Buwizz is / will be the right product for me personally. This better PR I am speaking of could also be utilized to bind users more to the product/vendor's site by giving the users a functionality for registered Buwizz units to be able to vote for a certain (preselected by Buwizz) features which should go into development next. For example I am desperately waiting for a failsafe feature which I see as absolutely mandatory for faster models in conjuntion with the limited BT range of the system (even as a total optional thing to be enabled on purpose to not interfere with regular users who don't need). Also an two-button-Input like a paddle shifter would be really neat for utilizing regular servos to shift gearboxes. E.g. push "+" / "-" buttons of that input control would do a 90° turn and stay in that state. Sorry for giving this kind of negative post, but for a ~200 € product I am expecting way more from the vendor. I would really like to get a 3rd and maybe 4th Buwizz 3 - but as long as there comes no single update I am not considering to burn more money into this seemingly "already to be considered discontinued?!" product - which I find very sad. Buwizz camp is currently happening and I generally am aware of ZeroBricks to be considered as a private EB user here (on purpose no mention to his account) and here it's not the official support of the vendor, also that he may not be allowed to give any detailed reply here even if he would like to. But maybe this honest opinion may be recognized somehow. Looking forward to see more technical updates from the Buwizz Dev team - even if the estimates for the Q1 feature list will be postponed further to the future because of implementation issues.

@SNIPE Not really gitting it, your topic is for imports from Studio to LDCad - my thread is about importing parts from LDraw into Studio... All good if you think it fits best here, but maybe I didn't got your point correctly.. :D
-
@freakwave This feature may be provided by ldraw homepage in the near future - so I think I would stop my efforts, if its getting obsolete in the future anyways.. reference: https://forums.ldraw.org/thread-26497-post-47070.html#pid47070

Custom LDD bricks and fixes
aFrInaTi0n replied to Equilibrium's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
If you just need those to import them directly to your custom parts folder, here you go: Baseplate, Raised 32 x 32 Crater Plate without Crater Studs - https://www.reum.it/ldraw-to-studio-exporter/index.php?part=3947 Baseplate, Raised 32 x 32 with Ramp and Pit, Crater Pattern - https://www.reum.it/ldraw-to-studio-exporter/index.php?part=2552p02 The zips include all sub assemblies to be imported into Studio (without connectivity). -

Hey @freakwave, first of all, sorry for one week without an update! Finally had some minutes to take a initial look :D Legal reasons shouldn't be any concern for the unofficial parts, as far as I get it. Only problem I see is, the unofficial lib is updated very frequent and it would need some scheduled job for my script / server to have the library files refreshed with a more recent version - technically its no huge thing, just needs some brainjuice (I would also use this to automatically update the official one, because it was just placed manually there for the first approach).. Open Questions: Would a checkbox for "include LDraw unofficial" for the search be enough for your needs? Do you know if the unofficial contains parts which are already in the official? If so, this could create multiple result. Could be solved by also prefixing the source [official|unofficial] at the search-results links I hope I can give some feedback on this sunday already, regards. Edit: updated official parts with the latest files (2022-03, released on 2022-05-07) Edit 2: The unofficial LDraw Lib contains also other parts (textures etc) -> need to extend my script to be able to include them too.

@freakwave Its just ~150 lins of dirty php code. Its more or less just 1 recursive function, walking down the references to subparts of the main part and adding them into a zip-stream, which is send to the browser. I will have to check if there are any legal reasons denying that - I will check out if I can add the unofficial parts on the weekend.

Onboard footage of @amorti's Café Racer: The wobble of the front fork is a consequence of having the Insta360 Go2 camera in the back of the back, resulting in the cog also being moved + having less weight at the front fork (specially in acceleration situations). Without the camera-equipment mounted, it rarely wobbles. Top speed meassured with SkyRC GPS probe is 28 kph / 17.4 mph

[APP] BrickController2

Also interested if there will be a planned feature for this in the future. I would also send some MouldKing 4.0 Tx/Rx as hardware samples for testing / rev engineering. :D- 1,316 replies
