Rendering in stud.io
aFrInaTi0n replied to Sentinel's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It depends on several aspects: Selection of rendering on CPU or GPU (gpu ponly possible with NVidia graphic cards) Hardware being used Used Rendering Engine (POV or eyeSight/cycles) Quality settings of the render (Sample size) Parts with special materials/surfaces (transparent, luminous, metallic, chrome color types) To give some examples (out of my memory, may not be accurate), main components were the same (Ryzen 5 3600x at 4.3GHz, 32GB RAM (3200 clocks), SSD for system and data partitions), Rendering same object (small partcount models, but with reflective materials and some lightsources etc) in a FullHD resolution with High Sample Rate in the Eyesight render on the GPUs: CPU computation: 15-20 Minutes Old Geforce GTX1050 (2 GB VRAM): 12-15 minutes per image Current Geforce RTX3060 (12GB VRAM): ~4 minutes per image Hope that somehow helps as a starting point - if others tell their render times, I reckon it would also be very benefitial to have the specs of the system given. RAM or VRAM isn't giving the huge increase inbetween the graphicscards, it is more a thing of their new generations having a multitude of faster working computing units, the 2 GB VRAM on the old graphicscard were never a limitation for my renders - RAM / VRAM may get a topic to be concerned for real huge models with tens of tousands of parts to be loaded into the renderer. Another general thing I recognized to have a little speed up: Setting the task priority for the running eyesight.exe from normal to "Higher priority" in the windows task manager seems to enable the Windows Kernel / resource Schedulers to give it a little more throughput, but this may result in lag of other running applications (watching videos in the browser for e.g.). -
I think its too risky for them getting plenty of complains of watered units... But I think there was at least one guy @Marxpek who 3dprinted a case for the Buwizz (2) with some rubber ring to seal it of from at least splashing waterdrops, but if I remember correctly, one would better not try to submerge it completely in water :D Ah, here you go:

stud.io Renders for black capes

If Rubber Black is not working out I guess using Blender would be the only other way to go.. -

In the Buwizz app, you should be apple to go to the options cog and then click the available active Buwizz units and see the details of their firmware - if I remember correctly, 3.22 is the one from BETA, 3.18 of the old LIVE release.. But also the firmware versions may be different for a Buwizz2 unit - so take my post here with care and better wait for some Buwizz2 owners, who can help you out better than I may.- 1,316 replies

[APP] BrickController2
aFrInaTi0n replied to imurvai's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It may be the case you have a new firmware on your Buwizz, when you are in the BETA program of Buwizz. If this would be the case, imurvai has to update the Brickcontroller App to work with the updated API of Buwizz..- 1,316 replies

Are you in the BETA program of Buwizz's app? Because the recent BETA also applies a new Firmware to the Buwizz Unit (at least for the bw3) - not sure if this may create issues with maybe changed commands in their API..- 1,316 replies

If there is a part id in the LDraw official & inofficial, than the answer may be "yes" - so are you speaking of https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=x77ac50 ? Can't find the ID in LDraw unfortunately - so the answer seems to be "no". General thing with Studio is: Its very limited when it comes to flexible parts like hoses, tubes etc - I think this may also apply to strings / cords.. normally people recommend to do the flexible parts in LDDraw and import them into Studio in their already-correctly bent positions. Another idea: Philo did it via the LDraw OMR: https://omr.ldraw.org/files/1512 Download this and take it out from there? I am curently working, so I can't rn check in detail what part number is in philos file of the ship..

Pleas read the posts above from @Sylvain - seems the format is structured in a complete other way in Studio. I fixed the downloader already - so now the pngs are included now - I will have to have a deeper look into this.. But I expect it taking longer / my capabilities to work on that issue not being good enough in the end. So no promises, but will update you as soon as I am somehow smarter about this topic (expect 2-4 weeks). Regards

[MOC] RC Superbike series
aFrInaTi0n replied to aFrInaTi0n's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
RELEASE DAY IT IS - Published the base chassis of the RC Superbike Series today. It is currently really the basic version which is also true for the PDF itself - currently no eye candy or additional descriptions yet - those will be added in the next days. Grab your copy from https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-150157/ Edit: I also need to rewrite the entry post here and re-add the pictures in a way for not creating such a messy initial threadpost..- 21 replies

Thanks for clarification! So I am including all the pngs in the correct folder structure now - but then they need to be re-added in PartDesigner, I guess?! I which file is the description for Studio to recognize those? May be its worth a look, if those can be translated (in the process of creating the zipfiles from my tool).

Hello @sparrow_blaise - first of all thanks for your kind words - can you retest if all textures are now included? Direct Link: https://www.reum.it/ldraw-to-studio-exporter/index.php?part=u9328ap01c01.dat&unofficial=true There was a bug, missing out textures at all... fixed now - thanks for pointing out! With the LDraw Viewer its correctly showing the textures - I am not familar with working with textures, so I don't know if they need to be added manually in Part Designer for Studio picking them up, as mine isn't taking them..

@vergogneless partially - wiping the then sticky dust off it is the one thing - the other is the fine film of silicone, which will still be on all surfaces of the sprayed parts - those will be distributed via your hands if you grab other parts from your non-yet sprayed parts or put them back (without cleaning them in a dish washer to really get rid of everything). Not judging anyhow, so please don't get me wrong - I know lubrication makes more RC related things possible, I just wanted to mention the other side of the coin, before other people happily spray their parts and wonder after a while.. :D

It shoould be capable of running while being loaded through usb3 - at least I can operate it via app when its charging - if I remember correctly this was even listed at the official homepage somewhere. But remember: Charging times of LiPOs take same time or even longer than releasing the capacity - so with constant throughput of a external powerpack, this may possibly increase thermal output, therefore temperature inside the buwizz, as the BMS (battery management system, the one who takes care of charging the batt) will also heat up additionally to your constand 1h load on the driver ICs. But as Buwizz has some thermal shutdown safety - I would try. Worst case is it could step out because of getting too warm..
