  1. It's got to be the diver, series 8: The helmet mold is beautiful.
  2. I like the short beard piece. Facial hair is coarser that normal hair, it can grow like that if there's enough of it. The piece also leaves most of the face print visible, so it's gret for making characters IMO. I don't like the old oversized walkie-talkie. The scimitar is also often used badly, I'd wish to see more of Pharao's Quest scimitar.
  3. Nice work! The technical bits look wonderful, great use of that Spyrius printed slope especially.
  4. You know, I tried to build a steampunk gal, but ended up with a stout Major armed with imposing moustache, warm greatcoat and decent bear hat instead... But I think it's all right. Couple of more shots on the blog, not much to say about this one though. Sir Hornblom just happened.
  5. Witch Doctor seems to suffer from some budget issues. I think it was alright, with all the mass and that, but the bare asymmetrical TECHNIC bits rather ruined the overall look. Wonderful parts back, though. Not sure if Breakout Breez counts as an underrated set. It's definitely my favourite hero set, and I've never heard anyone not liking it. Same goes for Thornraxx, I think it got full points on EB reviews back in what year was that 2012 I guess. I didn't like Dragon Bolt. Mostly due to bad bad proportions (neck thick like a log, puny tail, blocky lower jaw, huge feet, small legs...). The wing design was good though and I really like the head mold. It would be nice to see it recolored.
  6. This is really cute. Splendid use of those claws, they work well on both forms.
  7. Truly good, liking the organic shaping of the landscape and the cage design in cool.
  8. Today's character build is Palutena, a goddess of Light from Nintendo's Kid Icarus games... Though my insipiration comes from Smash Brothers, obviously. This MOC was rather tricky, especially the arms; It's hard to make them sturdy yet flexible in tan. There is more photos on my blog Cyclopic Bricks. Enjoy.
  9. Surprisingly cheap, these ones - The rate between US and Finnish euro prices seems to be a lot more plausible than usual on licensed sets. By me beard, Vader is only 5€ (20%) more expensive than Tahu/Kopaka/Onua. And Grievous is 4€ cheaper than Witch Doctor back in, what it was, 2012? I might even pick Vader up, if these prices are the final ones.
  10. Thanks everyone! Here's a couple of shots of the mech:
  11. 1924: Scottish Expedition led by adventurer Mr. Roy McBridge, equipped with Clam-type heavy diving suit, discovers the ancient ruins of the legendary New Atlantis at the bottom of the North Sea. This little diorama was built for Finnish LUG Palikkatakomo's summer contest with the theme of "finding, discovering". The idea was simply to build something around the top part of that diving mecha I had tablescrapped last winter. More photos can be found on my blog. Enjoy.
  12. Thanks mates! Ain't no canon character, this one.
  13. For the fifth anniversary of Klaanon project - Finnish multi-author Bionicle-ish novel project - I built one of our most important heroes, Umbra (No relation to the canon character with odd colors). Umbra is a Toa of light, armed with an Exo-Cannon and sword, but currently he's a bit low on the elemental energy. This has changed his usually bright yellow armor to partially black. I'm not sure of the color blocking on this one, but there are not that much Keetorange parts available on most of them are on Tongu anyway... More on the blog as always, enjoy!
  14. I never liked the 2009 "Half-reboot" story-wise, but at least the sets were a lot better than in 2008; The weapons and color schemes were a lot more element-oriented and, well, interesting. When it comes to 2008 sets, I think the Makuta sets were cool, diverse and interesting. The Toa, on other hand, weren't. In addition to being very far-fetched from the original Nuva designs, they had pretty much the worst weapons ever (Except Lewa and Pohatu, probably) and very basic builds. I neither liked the Av-Matoran with their low piece counts and high price tags. And then there was the plague of poor ball sockets... Never liked Hordika, but visorak were alright, Hagah were excellent and the titan sets better than average, except for their strange lack of hands.
  15. Aquaqon! I saw lot of bashing on it on the Worst CCBS topic, but I think it has a wondeful faceplate, and is otherwise well-balanced and simple nice set. XT4 was rather fun too, with nicely poseable design, debut of the small torso piece and nice collection of light bley bones, not to mention the long black shells. Voltix was neat too (despite never owning it) and at least had four "Captain America" armor add-on-pieces. But then again I've never liked dark purple that much.
  16. Very cool! Those golden pipes look wonderful here, I think I should get some...
  17. The title of this theme reminds me of Black Sabbath song .I have to admit that the set list doesn't sound that good (More catapults and disk launchers, yeah, and some spinner/speedors like stuff?), but I'm still rather curious about this. Just for the possiblity of getting some dwarves, surprisingly.
  18. Here's an another character from Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind manga, Sergeant-in-arms Mito. This was pretty basic build with some challenge on the arms and the helmet. I also took some group shots with my other Nausicaä figures. From left to right, Mito, Nausicaä, Yupa and Kushana: More on Cyclopic Bricks. Enjoy!
  19. My newest addition to Nausicaä MOC series, the title character herself! This is based on Hayao Miyazaki's 7-part comic Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. I also built Nausicaä's Eftalian rifle and fox-squirrel Teto. Nausicaä also has her ceramic knife on her belt. More on Cyclopic Bricks.
  20. Great, warm color scheme. Instantly reminded me of Amsterdam train station.
  21. My second creation from Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind manga, Princess Kushana of Torukmenia: The scale mail is the main gimmick here. I first tried to build it using 1x1 plates with tooth, but it didn't work out. Fortunately cheese slopes worked fine and I had plenty of them. The cape was rather challenging too, as dark red isn't the most common of LEGO colors and it got heavy and hard to balance. But it seems to work now. Watercolor cover art of volume 3 was the main reference material here (The comic is in black and white). More stuff on my blog. Enjoy.
  22. I'm going to Britain soon and I'm wondering if they give a bit refund of German PaB cups? They have the refund marked on them in German and in euros, but basically they are identical. Could someone ensure this?
  23. Here's my newest Bricks of Character build, Lord Yupa, the mightiest swrodsman of Fukai, from Hayao Miyazaki's impressive Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind comic (or the movie). I let the cape to cover the arms for more dramatic effect. The colors are based on my own mental images, as the comic is in black and white. I also built a little base with some spores of Fukai. There is more on my blog Cyclopic Bricks. Enjoy!
  24. Great mix of old and new. Everything works well together. Loving the lantern on the front.
  25. Very nice! Those trans-light blue electric parts looks fantastic here, I need to get some. I also like those simple-but-effective bases.
