Toa Sheelika is a femme fatale-esque Toa of lightning. She's a thief and a murdered (in other words, a piraka) but at least she's got style. Sheelika is a character on Finnish Bionicle-ish novel project Klaanon and has been around since its beginning on 2010. There was this old MOC built by the character's creation. I used it as a reference material but made the color scheme starker and added some noir elements like the wide-brimmed hat (probably not canon) and a dramatic collar. I also made the weapons more stylised; I'm especially happy how nasty-looking the shield turned out. I made the mask with SYSTEM pieces. Noble Ruru would have been too small, it is a tad over-used and in the story Sheelika's kanohi is not Ruru but (argueably wether she really needs one) a mask of hypnosis. Building the mask made it possible to add some purple eyeliner so I'm happy with it. The eyes glow in the dark, by the way. There are more pictures and talk on my blog.

Here's the results of one-year project of building Savoia S-21 flying boat from Hayao Miyazaki's Porco Rosso, my favourite film ever. It took four BL orders and several dozens of hours. Miniland scale was perfect with the engine I began with, and it made it possible to build the pilot, the pig itself, to the cockpit. I also threw up an angled base to make the display more dynamic. More photos and talk can be found on my blog, Cyclopic Bricks.

Cute, great shaping on the head!

Thanks guys! The hair is printed because it's the only upper jaw piece I have. I was too stingy to buy any Invasion from Below sets and bricklinked that lately. I like the golden streaks though, even if they clash with the overall black-and-white color scheme. The sideburns are 2x4 wedge plates connected to jumper plates connected to 1x3 thin liftarms connected to the Metru skull via 3 axle.

I play no blues, I play Po'n'Roll... Toa Kyberi is Bio-Clanian Toa of Sonic and a rock star adored by many. He has freaking rocking hairstyle helmet and amplifier kneecaps. His natural choice on weapon is an axe-guitar plugged into a traditional Barraki amp. What else? This was a very fast six-hour MOC built around "beast jaw as rockabilly hairstyle" idea. More photos can be found on my blog. Rock on.

This is Brez (II), the oldest sister alive of the legendary Xian bounty hunter squad called Breznikova Triplets (formerly Quartet). She is Selakhian, being same species of Pridak the Bloody. Their current mission is to liquidate Purifier, who supposedly killeds the olders sister. They are Killjoy's allies. The "real life" backstory (Why she is almost like Breez???) can be found on Cyclopic Bricks with more photos and stuff. Enjoy.

Help with identifying parts/sets!
Pate-keetongu replied to WhiteFang's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's Breez from Hero Factory, year 2013: http://brickset.com/sets/44006-1/BREEZ Hero Factory has been replaced with Bionicle, so it would be ideal to buy some of these: http://brickset.com/sets/tag-Okoto -
Thanks all! Frontpage and everything. Classic Sabbath is always revelant!

Great atmosphere. The water pattern is excellent. The green land area could be bit less flat though. The scorpions work neatly as house details.

This is Dain II Ironfoot, the lord of Iron Hills, The King under the Mountain and the scottish boss dwarf who rode that pig. The challenging part was the legs - All my previous dwarves have been standing still and this guy had a riding pose. It uses some small ball joints that are hidden under the armor skirt. The pig works on its own - Dain doesn't. Kill them elves! More on my blog, as usual. Enjoy.

The bricks and pieces seems to lack every new part and recolor, not only minifig parts. I think (hope) that they will fix it. Don't think it's a new business tactic as it lack many basic parts that just happen to be recolored, like round 2x2 jumpers from Destiny's bounty. I just wish to grab the printed shield from aforesaid Bounty and some of those Flyer windscreens. Ninjago fig parts seem to be a bit too specialized this time for my steampunk-heavy figbarf purposes, I'll leave them to you. Guess they won't sell the Morro Dragon wings, they'd make such great Mothman. Got to Bricklink them later. I might be rad and buy that Sensei Wu Dragon though, 60€ in Finland isn't too bad for such a beautiful sets.

Company of Thorin Oakenshield project - Compeleted!
Pate-keetongu replied to Pate-keetongu's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Hello again and sorry for bumping, but... As the first dwarves on this project date back to 2012, they might look a bit outdated... So I rebooted Balin, my favourite dwarf. At first he was going to wear the battle costume from the last movies to go with the new version of Dwalin, but it was way too fragile and I (rage) quited with it and just built a new travelling costume version with the new head. There is more on the blog, as usual. And, by the way, Dain Ironfoot later this week. -
I turned the loo's taps to puke sewage! I set Volmar's toupee to fire, sank his Corvette to the canal! That's right: I am the postman of Job! The prophet of the doctrine of unpositive attidude, yes! I am the mole, scumbags! Earthmover! Terminator! Under your dwellings I shall dig my catacombs! And I shall not wait for your invitations but I'll invite myself; For your guest, for your blight, and your home is my castle! Your kitchen into a Turkish sauna and customer in there! So I sit on a freezer, ladling water to the stoves! Yes: I nest in shallow waters! I nest in shallow waters! Ch.: And now I'm having a Polaroid hidden in the ceiling... A recorder behind a painting... And harm watch will be harm catch! And in those days one fellow raved the whole month about mammals... After a hurricane snatches the furniture I shall eat the chosen bits of your lawn and the small feet groove all night... And when "ring ring" says the phone inside the head The ambulancemen don't say even that! Buy this: Ch.: And your mole goes: And nests in shallow waters! Rises out from your hot tub... Now! J. Martikainen 1993 Translated by me. This MOC was inspired by 1993 song " " by Finnish proge band YUP and the cover art of the EP with same name. I translated the lyrics, but this kight be quite self-explaining MOC... More on Cyclopic bricks. Enjoy.

6086-X Return to the Black Knight's Castle
Pate-keetongu replied to Dubbadgrim's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Lovely - especially the colors, light bley looks so beautiful over black, and the tudor hut is spot-on, just like on the original. Old figs with new, interesting heads are very refreshing. Well played. -
To cease all of your suffering A faceless doll of dread The pale hand of the Crimson Man Will drown your corpse in red -Tarip the Rust-eyed, in the Temple of Nimda, written with own blood More on the blog. Yeah, the holy Y-joint, with new ball socket and without those rubber things in secondary color. That would be cool. Not so excited getting old parts back, we have them already and they are usually pretty cheap on second hand market. Some recolors would be good, of course, old mask primarily, but not going to happen due to the new mask connection system. But, after all, I'm happy as far as stupid Bordakh staff is never released again.

Here's yet another dwarf creation; Dwalin, the muscle of the group, in his reclaimed Erebor chainmail coat. This MOC was inspired by getting lot of those short chain pieces for cheap. The color scheme felt quite beautiful too, so I gave it a try. The axe was probably the hardest part. Weta's design had so odd 45 degree angles so I had to fiddle with it a long tme before coming up with a version that uses some magnifiying glasses and clip-bars to connest the blades. There is more talk on my blog. Enjoy!

Thanks guys! The blue looks azure because the photos were taken against the sunset around 7:30 PM, which turned the photos rather blue, and via color balance fix on Gimp to beautiful azure. It looked rather beautiful so I let the photos be like that; Making then less azure would have made the yellow on the hair way too dark. I wish there would be enough parts on Gali's azure but that's not going to happen, so I'll stick with regular blue even though it's a bit too dark to actual Samus.

I like those rubbery hairpieces as they enable interesting connections.

Nice job, this pelican looks quite friendly!

Loving the two first ones... The use of the printed curved slope on the phoenix is great.

This topic shall be risen from the tides of the decades: Kapwing! I tend to modify my old creations. Watching them from day to day on their shelves make me realize how some parts could be made so much better. This new version was build gradually, beginning with making the upper torso and the upper arms sturdies (and well, better colored and shaped at the same time), then making the base to allow better posing and finishing with completely reworking the head - it kept exploding and batarang eyes are so 2013. I just hope they would do 5M shells (or 4M, what ere those on the middle torso, now) in dark blue so I could complete the color line from Visorak foot to 2x2 studless curved wedge, but otherwise I'm sort of happy with this. There are dozens of more photos on the blog, and some talk too, in case you are interested. Enjoy.

Why is the grey baseplate so expensive?
Pate-keetongu replied to Endriu's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I prefer not using baseplates at all, but building sturdy bases using bigger ordinary plates (16 x 16 are naturally the best), TEHCNIC bricks (8x6 and 16x1 are the most useful ones) and some random big <insert that tiresome argument> stuff. The thin baseplates bend more easily and slide easily on smooth surfaces.
