Bricklink minifigure question
Pate-keetongu replied to BirdOPrey5's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The minifigure category offers minifigs only, despite their theme. The accesories come in parts categories, usually Minifig, utensil or Minifig, weapon. Sellers sell CMF's with the stand and the accesories both in Minifigs and Sets and this might cause confusion. Also, on additon to Sven F's list, minifig in minifig category should include neck/torso wear too (beards, moustaches, air tanks, backpacks etc.). I think the seller did everything all right in your case. -
Kira, a cyberpunk Mongolian warrioress, was originally based on torso and leg print on Ninjago minifig Nya. I made a concept art and then couple of months later built this MOC. More photos and talk here, if you mind. Thanks for watching.

Toa Ursanga, toa of fire and friend of bears. He lives in the wilderland of the island of Bio-Klaani and fiercily protects his people who worship Ash Bears. Toa Ursanga is one of the three toas of The North, his brothers being Toa Muothka and Toa Korpraun. More photos and talk on Cyclopic Bricks. Enjoy!

Neat figbarfs, loving that imp soldier. The druid, noblewoman and nobleman (that moustache) are my favourites.

The new Destiny's Boynty looks like a well-designed set; Won't buy it for full price but got to grab that gorgerous printed shield somewhere. The Very Bright Green dragon looks quite cool too, liking how they made the curling body shape.

Yeah, this looks nice. Reminds me of MoL design. The shortter version looks a bit better to me.

Here's my series for this glorious contest: Four minifigs for four regions! Kaliphin Cyclops Centurion Graabolk is a mighty man (cyclops) in Kaliphin. He is bit of a strategist but mainly just horribly brave and inspiring leader. Smyt Smytsson is a bad-mannered dwarf bandit. He is likely banished by his kin due to his un-dwarfish clothes, manners and choice of weapon, or probably because they envy his pompous moustache. Uses a lot of chewing tobacco. Glorp the orc is something like a friend of Smyt's. He is a bandit too, master of mugging bedouins. He wears a head of one of his victims on his head with the turban and all. Cherbyl is a desert sprite, alluring but dangerous. She seeks the deserts for lost explorers and caravans and misguides them with mirages. She has form of a human, limbs of a bird and mind of a snake. Mitgardia Airen of Annugard is a hunter and scout who loves to patrol the borders of his home region. She is not a warrior, but definitely knows how to fire some nasty arrows at enemy's skull. Megga McManbata is one of the few highland mammothmen, an odd and mysterious race that is driven near extinction by human and dwarf settler. His fur is to thick that no clothes are needed; the kilt is an status symbol. Grimholt the Steadfast is a dwarf colonel (offensive squad). He gives his everything to defend the mines against monsters, hordes and taxmen. Goltana the Icesaint is one of the sacred white mages of Mitgardia. Her odorous potions and waxes do miracles to frostbites and sometimes even to lost limbs (or not the limbs, not much use to heal those, but the parts where they are lost, you know). Avalonia Sissa is a elven ranger. She is the master of camouflage and especially loves spring when the grassland and woods of Avalonia are full of beautiful flowers is full bloom. Bulgplop the Pikeman Pikeman is one of the guards of the Pikeman tribe that lives in the marshes of Avalonia. His pike's pike is made of pike's fishbone. Pikemen's pikes are also to jack pikes. Pikes are important in pikemen's culture. Jetro the Smith is the strongest man in Avalonia. He is not that good in making sharp blades and such, but he can swing hammer (and an anvil too) better than anybody and has enough muscle to bend cold steel with his bare hands. Bingo von Hinderal is the mayor of the town of Badhammod. He's a nice man and totally not a warmonger, and loves good food and drink. He's mostly very harmless, except during the years of famine. Nocturnus Clarol was daughter of loving parents in Avalonia but dark spirits stole her as a baby and took her to Nocturnus. Years in dungeons turned her into something dark and very dangerous. Fear and hatred gave her terrible strenght and her mind is full of twisted thoughs. Bjorn Gurmadon is a Nocturnian dwarf ambassador and an officer. Living in Nocturnus is hard for dwarves, but rich resources have driven his kin into this parts of Historica. Gurmadon tries to negotiate with sorceres, vampires and evil sprites to keep his people safe, and sometimes it deems a use of his greatsword. Evorma the Sorcerer moved into Nocturnus in the seek of true dark powers. He has the obligatory iron staff, black robe with occultic symbols and brooding wizard tower. He has not found the true dark powers yet. Were-Knigh is one of the unnamed evil warriors that patrol the dark valleys of Noctunus. They are strong, restless and have excellent sense of humour. No wait, excellent night vision is what I was saying. I hope you enjoyed these figs - probably one day I'll build an actual MOC to GoH!

Battle for the Gold Mask Semi-finalists and Winner
Pate-keetongu replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
The winning MOC is technically very well build, but in other hand it's a bit dull that so... stereotypical villain won the contest. I mean, our first place winner TerrorBite was both awesome build AND original character. But well, I naturally respect judges' opinions, and I am very glad how this contest vastly increased the amount action figure MOC on this forum and the on the community overall. -
It's the time of the year when the bearded fellow in red clothes travels around the lands... But this time he has a warhammer instead of sack of presents and he shouts "Baruk Khazad! Khazad-Ai-Menu" instead of "ho ho ho"... This is based on the armor Thráin, father of Thorin Oakenshield, wears in the Battle of Azanulbizar near the gates of Moria. It is slightly seen in the extended cut of Desolation of Smaug. I'm very happy with the shaping of the armor - Had to buy a bunch of odd-shaped dark red parts on Bricklink before building... There are more photos on Cyclopic Bricks; Enjoy! And merry Christmas to everyone, and lots of rattling presents!

Impressive - Both on micro and macro level. The wings are really spectacular and the mask looks neat too, reminds me of the movie version of Kraahkan. Onua's showels create really nice shape on the arms. Very beefy.

On this eve of the new Bionicle release this subforum is full of set reviews and villain contest MOCs... and I wonder if there is room for one boss Toa of electricity and her crab friend? This MOC is character from Klaanon, Finnish Bionicle-ish novel project written by the remains of Finnish (ex-)bionicle community. Tawa is the primal leader of the organization Bio-Klaani. I've build this character numerous times before, but this time I built the mask from scratch to achieve the trans-blue lens which is an iconic feature of her outlook. The old yellow Hau used on the previous versions alwys felt too masculine and orgulous for this character. I also build Nöpö, the dwarf Ussal crab mascot of the organization. There are lot of more photos on my blog.

Rise, you old geezer of a topic! So, here's a couple of more "SPFBs": The bios are behind the very same link: Steampunk yeah! Enjoy, my fellow Eurobrickers!
-
Here's a steampunk lady named Alina. I though this subforum needed something a bit less villanous after all the contest entries! As this MOC is quite a large, it was a long time in progress on my Bionicle building table. As usually with female models, I began building with the legs and advanced upwards. The skirt was one of the hardest parts, as I wanted something natural-looking but sturdy enough to stay together. It uses a net piece as the frame. The head was an another challenge, as building realistic faces with plastic blocks can be terribly hard. I think this one turned out quite good, though. It has more detail and shape than most of my female character faces that tend to be stylished and plain. There is more photos and talk on my blog. Enjoy!

How rare IS the Mask of Time?
Pate-keetongu replied to Im a brickmaster.'s topic in LEGO Action Figures
Golden Vahi was giveavay with a Bionicle comic book (Dark Hunters/Vakama's trippy dreams+Tahtorak) in 2005. That's where I got mine. Bricklink has one for around 13€. Disk of time was a giveaway on another magazine (Morbuzahk battle/Vahki hunt). They are fairly common with 21 BL entries. The chapest goes for 92 cents. -

holiday characters Expand the Winter Village Contest V
Pate-keetongu replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Town
I'm glad I asked early on, because I just managed to book some cheap North Pole flights before Eurobrickers raise the prizes into heavens. And by living at 62 degrees north I have sort of a advantage. The bad news is that there haven't been sunlight on the Pole since 24th of September and I don't have good lighting equipments. Dang. No honestly, this is great contest, Santa's lodgings is a place I always wanted to build as a wee lad and I hope I have time to take part on this.- 46 replies

holiday characters Expand the Winter Village Contest V
Pate-keetongu replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Town
I have to ask, do the village have to be located on the Nort Pole? I mean, if Santa Claus, of Father Christmas, is genius enough to deliver millions of presents in matter of hours (though time zones help a bit), I do think he would have his base on place without soil. Some scientist claim that North Pole will be ice-free in 2040, and I bet the old red-hat-white-beard knows that. I know Americans think that North Pole is the spot, but every Finn knows that it's Ear Hill at the Finnish/Russian border (Except the ones who think he lives at tourist village in Rovaniemi, but that's ridiculous). But then again, Our Santa might be another man from the Coca-Cola guy at the other side of Atlantic, and rules state the village can be other holiday character's (Hmm, actually sort of a division of labour would be ideal on the Christmas eve situation to avoid disasters like mixing up Austria and Australia, or like in the past centuries, Prussia and Russia). So, what's contest staff's opinion on this?- 46 replies

It's also noteworthy that Thror is killed couple of years before the battle, when he steps into Moria alone. Such a foolish thing to do if you ask me. Still waiting to get BoFA dwarves and Bilbo from Bricklink, prices are now around 7€ for a fig so I'll waiting them to drop a bit. Galadriel seems to be relativelu easy.

At first this looked a bit bland, but now when I look it there are some pretty awesome part usages, and the mood is definitely best so far - Singing detective Henri Blavatsky and the mystery of the poison biscuits. Highlander windows and grey unikitty tails are cool pieces to have available, and it's great to see 2x2 round tile with hole in another color than dark bley - that piece is pretty awesome in MOCing.

Battle For The Golden Mask Competition: Entry Thread
Pate-keetongu replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
This is Captain Notfun, probably the most unlucky and eccentric of all the pirates of the Silver Sea. Well, the captain part is a bit controversial, as he has lost his ship (Floating Plank/Timo of the Night(`/Timo of the Night II) and crew (stolen by the brooding bounty hunter Amazua). As piratism is illegal and evil, he is a villain; No doubt. Definitely. -
Really adorable. I like the way you imagined Fimbrethil, and Treebeard's posing is perfect.
