  1. That looks massive! Possibly instead of buying multiples of the set itself, would it be cheaper to spend the money on the pieces you directly need? As opposed to being limited to only what the set has available...just an idea. Keep up the great work. I really like how things are looking.
  2. Nicely done. Very fitting. I remember that first video game quite well. Now build a bear or some bats for her to shoot at! Keep up the great work.
  3. The other concern is maybe they are simply unaware of them not being genuine LEGO?? I did end up buying some Chinese knock-offs. I received them a week later, which was surprisingly fast since they claimed it would take 25 days to get to me. The quality is definitely different than LEGO, but surprisingly not that bad. The print job on Venom was horrible, but the Odin figure was well done. I feel "dirty" having non-LEGO figures haha, but it is interesting to see how competitors are. I don't know/think I'll be any more, but who knows. I may hold out for some that LEGO definitely won't produce.
  4. Your mileage may vary. I have purchased multiple sets (200+) over the last few years since coming out of the box (my way of saying dark ages) and I've had countless missing/broken pieces. Yes, they have great customer service for a while. Eventually they must think you are scamming them and will quit sending pieces. That's what happened to me, so I quit asking. Don't be surprised if it happens again. Definitely look everywhere to make sure you didn't miss it somewhere. I open all of my bags into a separate container so none of the pieces will roll away. Now as a kid, I had over 500 sets and I can't say for sure if I remember any missing pieces, but back then I didn't really pay attention to stuff like that.
  5. Do they have inside knowledge that no one else seems to have? I'm sure a lot of that is speculation considering those are all older sets, so the quantities available will be slowly going down. It is entirely possible they do have a planned discontinuation of the modulars, but if stock in one depletes before another, they may not do another production run for such a small time frame.
  6. I've always wondered about insurance. I have all of my sets/pieces in bricklink right now to see the current value. I wonder if that would be enough? I did wonder if just having a list of sets would be enough to get insured. It makes me picture someone claiming they owned several copies of the rare discontinued sets, much like being a normal person having a mona lisa or something crazy! Obviously, I'm honest to not do that.
  7. This is pretty awesome. I don't think I've really voted for many CUUSOO projects, but they hit 10k anyway, so that works. I think if you are going to have Ghostbusters, you need this to be included, so hopefully it would get built as an official model as well. I think everyone and their dog will be buying the Ecto-1. Will you be keeping the 1% royalty or donating it? It seems like most have donated already, which is interesting.
  8. The above two posts are the exact reason why there should be a 'like' button on here. But it would be awesome to see more kingdoms. I just wouldn't expect it.
  9. If you could get ahold of a k box that had them, you might be sitting pretty. Although on here people have said they aren't allowed to sell them anymore. I have some friends in my LUG that build lamps/frames/etc to sell and they use mainly basic bricks like that. They have a catalog from LEGO that they order from and it sounds like it is cheaper than PAB pricing, but I don't know any other details about it. I never buy those bricks.
  10. That is an awesome creation. I have considered building certain characters at that scale, but never got around to it. Just recently getting back into my Pirates love, this is really impressive. I'd love to build one, but I don't use LDD. But it would be neat to see how this was created. How many pieces did you use? How much did it cost, approximately? Thanks for sharing!
  11. I think they tend not to distinguish between the two molds and just use up the old stock as much as they can. It probably depends on their facility and how their storage works. That's why some sets in the same year may have different versions, or in your case where you received both in the same set. Were they in the same bag or separate bags? That may determine what stock the machines were pulling from also.
  12. Seems pretty spot-on! The only change I'd say is switch the upper windows around so the smaller is on the bottom like the original, but you can keep the snot work. I may have to look for ideas in the surrounding buildings.
  13. ^That's awesome. I may have actually purchased some of those sets had the nindroids looked like that. I haven't really got into Ninjago so far, but there have been some neat sets/figures.
  14. Neat idea! It definitely captures what one would expect to see as a floating space station. I like the idea for the farms.
  15. Well done. A very worthy competitor. I like the mini details. You have inspired me to build a mini base/camp/house also. I haven't built space since I was a kid, but this may be a fun way to get back into it. Good luck in the contest!
  16. I think the distinction should be drawn if the official minifigure/set comes from a specific show/movie. As in, The Lex Luther/Superman set wouldn't be Henry Cavill, but the Man of Steel would be since it is branded as such. The figure's face would look nothing like the official actor (unlike some minifigures), but since it was branded as such, it should be linked to them. If it is just a Super Heroes set without any other branding, then it shouldn't go to anyone in particular. The Spiderman sets from the cartoon could go to voice acting if you preferred, but not if it was comics only related. So agreed that Ian McKellan should get Gandalf, but not Magneto unless a Magneto comes out directly from the movie he was portrayed in (which it hasn't yet). I agree a body double shouldn't count for anything. If they were the primary person doing it, then yes, but not if you are only seen in a handful of scenes as a double. To me, that seems like a pretty straightforward distinction between the characters/actors.
  17. If you look at this new Duplo set, it shows the Kingdoms line as opposed to the blue lion color scheme. I found that interesting. I doubt it means anything, but interesting nonetheless.
  18. ^Palace Cinema is a dark tan modular, fyi.
  19. ^That's a neat idea. But you can only buy those pieces to complete the model? I'm sure there would be highly sought after parts that would fill many PAB cups over instead of only getting the one or two needed for the mini build.
  20. Surprisingly the piece I never seem to have enough of is a 1x1 light bley plate. And sometimes the same in tan. And then a 1x2 light bley plate. They seem to fill gaps in a lot of things and I always run out. This is just based on mocs I've done over the last year or so. Cheese slopes tend to get used quite a bit too. My mini Hogwarts will be using several hundred of the sand green cheese slope. I think I ordered 700 recently.
  21. If you think about it, everyone's cones are at a different wavelength, so everyone will see colors differently. But what you perceive to be green or gray will vary depending on lighting. I can easily see both in those pictures. There is a greenish tint to the gray. But I wouldn't say 100% either way. Plus it goes back to what LEGO color has on hand since they won't create a new color for one character without introducing it with the rest of their line. Also, Marvel would have a say in how they want it portrayed. Just be happy we are getting one. I don't know who the Guardians are, but their figures look cool.
  22. To me, it looked like the regular standard colors that LEGO uses. However, if the yellow is cool yellow, that is readily available in the Friends set Heartlake High. They could have used the 1x2x5 brick to fill in the sides and used 1x2 bricks for the front between the headlight bricks that would be used which looks like were changed to something else anyway. The blue is definitely the standard LEGO blue. As for the orange, if it is standard LEGO orange, those do come in bricks. If it is a brighter orange, then it probably wouldn't be available. If this is at LEGOLAND, then it could very well have bricks that aren't in production for everyday builders since some of their creations have unique colors only available to them. With all of that said, I'm a little surprised they haven't done a modular with the cool yellow color. It isn't as bright as some of the other colors (including standard yellow), so it is possible being a little more subdued it might blend in with the rest of the line.
  23. Good start. You just need a few smaller pieces here and there to add some detailing. Color scheme can vary per person, so that isn't a huge problem. I think it'd be more getting some windows to help complement it with the series. I never considered it originally, but within the last few months as I was building my own versions of modulars that a 1x2x5/1x1x5 bricks work well as walls. It can be unsightly seeing the seam between the bricks, but it fills up the walls quickly. So I've built my Cafe Corner with that so far. Since I normally wouldn't see the side/back it isn't a huge deal. Plus it was cheaper than having to source all of the regular bricks. I really like the sidewalk using the 1x1 round tiles. I hadn't thought of that before. The only problem there is seeing the green underneath. If you sourced a lot of 16x32 dark bley baseplates or built all of the modulars up one plate and put a different color underneath the sidewalk, that would look stellar. I was just going to alternate 1x2 tiles to make it look more cobblestoned, but this would work too!
  24. All (mostly) large, exclusive sets within the past recent years. Interesting. Obviously most of my favorite are from my childhood since nostalgia kicks in.
  25. Moe would be good similar to Larry the barista. I'd like a Skinner, if only to have another suit variation. I mean, a green suit with Burns was cool enough.
