Nicely done. I've been wanting to build something in miniland, but I've never understood how the people were put together. Thanks for sharing.

The scale and attention to detail is very impressive. I don't know much about world architecture, so I've never heard of this building. But the LEGO version is impressive. I especially like the water effect using those tiles. I hadn't thought of doing that before. I may have to do that for my mini Hogwarts build.

I was planning on getting R2-D2 to get this promo, but if I have more time I may wait on it. That's a lot of money to drop. But that minifigure is pretty awesome.

Simply brilliant. It has enough decoration on the exterior to fit in, but not so much that it looks cluttered. I may have to borrow some ideas from this. It looks very fitting. I like the idea of a side garage area, but if I were to do something like this I may include it in the 32x32 footprint, but exit through the back? I would be assuming there is an alleyway behind all of the buildings. But the white actually works in this case. I find it very difficult to work with white in modulars since very few buildings are truly white. But keep up the good work. I like where it is headed. I can't wait to see it in the brick.

Very nicely done. I like the new cafe area. Is that arched area underneath the stairs? Will there be enough room there? My CC is modified, so I don't have that same footprint. The counter area works really well. I'd almost consider changing the chairs to a different color to stand out more. The bedrooms are neat. The layout seems to work pretty well. The bed/chair/desks all look good enough to add to any housing scene. Keep up the great work!

Pi$$ed at eBay .... sorry .. puZZled with eBay

It may charge the seller a fee, but it can still be done. And it has been done. They can end the listing whenever they want. -
Crazy Store Markup Stories
TheLegoDr replied to Ridge Montante's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I don't shop at tru because of the high prices. Unless they have an exclusive polybag. Although last Christmas they had a sale on the sail barge for $75, so I had to jump on that side it retails at $119. That's the only time over ever seen a decent savings. -

^ I've bade on auctions before but still had the listing pulled. I don't think it matters of there are zero or a lot of bids, the seller can still cancel the listing. At least it has happened to me before. -
That's awesome about the figure. Now what set to buy...I guess I'll wait and see if any good deals are to be had.

The competition is fierce and not every store marks down the same, even though it is the same company. Very odd. We have 3 Targets and 4 Wal-Marts in town here. I have never seen the same mark down at any of them. And the Targets that are easily accessible to me never have discounted sets. I'd love to pick up a few extra Rancor Pits for that price! There's nothing like a good sale to make you pull the trigger on a set you otherwise didn't plan on buying (or getting extras).

Pi$$ed at eBay .... sorry .. puZZled with eBay

^Exactly. Bid what you feel comfortable spending. If it goes above that, then keep trying. I find it is the lack of patience or the competitiveness that makes you spend way more than you originally expected. I always check bricklink before I bid on ebay to see if I can get it cheaper than that. if it comes down to it, I just buy the figure from bricklink and save. Ebay tends to be more expensive than bricklink from what I've seen, outside of those good low bids you can sometimes win. -
I originally counted up how many you could omit and retain the look, but I don't remember now. Since I changed mine to go with Sand Blue I quit caring about sand green so much. I ordered a bunch of sand green bricks for Pet Shop style copies though (different themed building, but similar architecture). I did question a few pieces in that build. Sometimes it will be red-brown for no apparant reason, so I switched it to dark bley. The beauty of LEGO, you can mod whatever you want.

It doesn't matter if it is the May 4th promo or not, I want one. I don't know much about the characters outside of what LEGO SW has told me. I've only seen the movies once a long time ago. But I enjoy the LEGO figures and sets.

I'm thinking something based off of Amalgam Comics... Tell me you wouldn't want an Iron Lantern figure!!!

I know Toys R Us will if they have enough boxes in the back. A colleague in my LUG used to work there. But it is the price per figure x number of packs in a box. With the inflation of prices, I agree with what Darkdragon is assuming to be true. That would be much higher than your total cost of $128 ($3.99 x 32) plus tax, but less legwork. Plus, you'd have extras to sell to try to make up the difference, but I still think you'd lose money on the deal. Even if you were able to break even on the rest of the figures in the box, you'd still be spending more. Now it all depends on where you get the initial box. I'd prefer to only buy one complete set and the few spares for my daughter and save a lot more money. The only problem is as you described, you might miss out on some or have to take your time in looking for them. Hopefully it won't sell out as quickly as the LEGO movie figures did. I hardly saw them crop up at all around here. Thankfully I got the complete set right away, but not long after that I never saw them in stock anywhere again (including TRU which usually has tons).

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
TheLegoDr replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This sounds like a great idea. I signed up for GoH on the first day, but I never had time to do anything (I still don't). But I think Pirates could benefit from a similar treatment. I think the more important thing here is for everyone to have fun. -
Those are neat bins, but that does seem a bit expensive. I've never seen great prices at JoAnn though. Another place that is usually higher priced is Hobby Lobby, but I know I purchased a similar sized box like that from them for $3.00. Now the bins aren't moveable, so that is the only problem, but the lid snaps tight and it seems to be of a thicker plastic/good quality. I haven't been back to look for anymore in a long time though.

If everyone is missing the point, then perhaps you should re-word your explanation? I'm with everyone else in what it sounds like sniping, automatic bidding, etc... Those things are perfectly normal and acceptable in the world of ebay. What you are describing sounds like the person that bade on the item with a higher bid, did so before you and it just matches the current high bid. I would think your only option is to keep looking for another item at a good price, even if it takes years and get it then. Not everyone has the luck to get cheap LEGO deals. -
^Thanks! I was going to ask in a pm, but I thought I'd ask here just in case others were interested. But good call about not name dropping on the site. I will go read that message right now.

I don't swoosh as often as I should. I tend to grab the MF and fly it around. It's pretty bulky though. I'm sure my daughter would love to swoosh some ships, but I haven't let her yet.

Done. Interesting idea. I hadn't considered that before. I think more than likely I would skip one with multiple fees (especially percentage fees) only because it is more legwork on my end. It isn't that I can't do the math, it's more I don't want to have to think when I'm trying to enjoy my hobby. Some fees are understandable. Flat fees make more sense than percentage fees. I'd rather be able to know what I'll pay sooner than later. Thankfully you can usually estimate how much shipping will be, so the end result isn't too far off from the estimate I have in my head. But with percentage fees I would probably avoid that seller and find someone else that has it also for a reasonable price. I feel, as long as I get it for what I perceive as good value (even if it was more expensive than normal), I call it a win. And the seller should call it a win since they made a sale.

Haha, your title amuses me.. don't you realize it is "forever sorting!" But in all seriousness, it really is. I feel like there is always something else to sort and organize. I have the bulk of my collection sorted by color currently with a few random boxes of sets/pieces that I either need to rebuild or finish sorting. Then I have a collection of drawers that utilize other small pieces that I may need in larger quantities instead of digging through my other bins all the time. I plan on organizing it more in the future with separated bins for bricks vs plates. I may one day further separate the pieces too. So far I have small drawers for cheese slopes, 1x1 rounds, 1x1 plates, tiles separated by colors/size, foliage, street light parts, etc. Then bigger bins for some plates and bricks, but I need to go further with that.

Nice customs.. I have considered purchasing some of the knock-offs to fill the ranks. I've been unsure of the quality also, so I've never pulled the trigger. But there are some obvious choices that LEGO will likely never do, so a good custom would be ideal. I've seen some that are custom printing on official LEGO pieces, so those are ideal, but they also ask for a premium usually. If some of these are cheaper, yet still good (enough) quality, I'd go for them. Where did you get these from again, Robianco? As in, which sellers, if you don't mind my asking. Thanks! That Odin is awesome.

That's awesome. I had that game for Xbox. I was already going to get at least one may 4th figure, but I may shoot for two now.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 Rumors & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
^ the purple wings are from the monster fighter line. They also used them in a CMF bat and manbat from Batman. It looks like the Chima bats have different wings though.
