  1. ^I like the idea of different sized modular buildings. But if the rumor is true that town hall isn't selling well because of the price, I don't think they would release any more larger scale buildings in the future. That includes slightly shorter, but wider buildings.
  2. I have yet to see the show, but I definitely want to. I'm waiting until Netflix has it on streaming. With that said, the figures do look good. I like the detail, although sometimes a minifigure can have too much detail and not look suitable with other figures (think classic 90s with today's figures). I like the white walker? I assume it is. I could see building an army of them, although not at that price. And I like the Peter Dinklage minifigure. From what I've seen they have good quality products, it's just really expensive to be able to produce that quality for the smaller time business model.
  3. Out of that picture, I want those little bunnies . I want the Bilbo figure, but I won't have time for the game. I guess I could ask if they have any they can give away (or) I can slip some money under the table...
  4. ^Monde Cinema was a truly unique and awe inspiring creation. But it is not to scale with the other Modulars, so you can't really incorporate that into your layout. However, I do like the idea of having that wide of a movie theater to have the viewing room on the main floor. The question becomes, without the viewing room on the second level, what would go there? You could easily keep the windows in place then, but I wouldn't know what type of business would be suitable above a movie theater. Plus you would want a separate entrance then, which might look weird with the current facade.
  5. I usually try to do at least one while I'm at a store (and PAB cup of course). I've built some interesting figures, but usually I just buy hats/hairs or accessories. Depending on the store, some will allow you to get 15 pieces as opposed to 3 full figures ( hat/hair, head, torso, legs, accessory). I haven't been to a store in almost a year now, yikes!
  6. Well, didn't they say Pirates is an Evergreen theme. So it will always be around in some form basically. Now this new ship is exciting. I would welcome a new Pirates wave since LOTR/Hobbit are ending and the new castle line was disappointing to me. Although saving money is always a good idea too...
  7. True, they at least are giving us time to not buy their other awesome products later this year... Summer SW and this winter's Hobbit I'm sure will be good purchases. Looks like I'll need to cut something out for a new ship, provided it is worthy of my bullion.
  8. You do have to buy more sand blue, but it wasn't that much extra. It was mainly trying to get enough 1x1/1x2s to fill the gaps. Pet Shop had enough of the larger pieces. The nice thing about Pet Shop it has sand blue from top to bottom, unlike most modulars that have the first floor light bley. So there actually are a lot more sand blue than you think. As far as sand blue being the same cost as sand green, it depends on where you look. But I prefer the sand blue color to sand green, plus I didn't care for the GG the more I looked at it, so I had to modify some bits to my liking. I figure if I'm going to be building something, I might as well make it better for me than the standard build. I can always find things to improve on official sets. I can't say for sure how many extra sand blue pieces I bought, but I don't recall it being that many extra. Like I said, mainly 1x1/1x2 bricks. But if you weren't modifying yours, you could probably get away with less pieces than I did. I changed my right side window area to be 2 studs narrower, so I had to use 1x1s instead of the 1x2 with groove there. The official PS set has 48 grooved bricks and the GG needs 56, so you have almost all you need there out of the box. Once I get the remaining pieces I will get some pictures taken to post. I only have a few 1x1 plates/tiles left, which is the worst part of it. It's finished, but it isn't finished.. But with all of this said, I am considerably happier with my sand blue grocer than the official green grocer. But that's just me.
  9. I just posted some ideas. I doubt they will win, but this is exciting news. I've loved the ships LEGO has given us. My LUG had a LEGO show yesterday and the Caribbean Clipper and Black Seas Barracuda were huge hits!
  10. ^ clean them every month? That is dedication. I never clean mine. Unless you have a glass enclosure they will just get dirty again.
  11. I must have been in the dark..this review has been posted for over a week and I'm just now finding it! I have yet to see these anywhere around me, but I'd imagine feeling will be tricky at times due to the bulbous heads. I have considered buying a full box and splitting it with a few friends. Nice to see they have 3 complete sets in one box. Depending on taxes/cost it might be the best way to get them since the feel method will be trickier. Does anyone know the mark up at TRU this time? Thanks for another great review though. It's nice to see how they look individually.
  12. Super Goblin - I changed my Green Grocer into a Sand Blue Grocer using all of the pieces from the Pet Shop. And then I changed the Pet Shop into a Sand Green building. It looks really neat. I like the sand green and tan window combination. Although I loved the sand blue Pet Shop too. I'm going to change the sign to something else too. The downside is I do think the GG is too tall compared all of the rest. For some reason one stud lower would be ideal to me. But I'm an odd one. I have it next to my Town Hall right now and it at least is smaller than that building.
  13. I think very little inspires me to build secondary to lack of time available for LEGO building. My current set up is built in shelves in our basement. Almost all of the shelves have sets/mocs displayed on them. Underneath I have all of my bricks sorted out of the way. I have a designated area for unopened boxes. I really only have the floor to actually build things, so that is a downer, but I could set up a collapsible table to build on. The lighting in my LEGO room is poor, so that doesn't help either. AND it is cold being in the basement. Now that it is finally warming up outside, it might not be so bad, but you basically can't go down there in the winter. The changes I'd want to make: add better lighting, even a desk lamp or something. Add in a table that is nearby my bricks so the build would be seamless. And get a space heater. Oh ,and lots of time! Then I will be able to build.
  14. I keep all of my boxes. There is no real reason to do so. I mainly like the artwork on them, but you can get the same result (on a smaller scale) with the instructions. However, with probably a few hundred boxes since I came out of my DA, they don't take up that much room. I flatten my boxes and align them side by side against the wall in a corner. Then my childhood LEGO is in a tote that sits in front of that so it compresses them together. It takes up less and a 2x3x1 cube, so very minimal. I don't know why I keep them though. Just for fun I guess. I don't plan on selling any sets since most sets are purchased for the minifigures. To me, the bricks are a bonus.
  15. ^Exactly. More than likely price will never go down, but it may not go up as quickly. Which that in and of itself can be considered a win for the consumer. Everything else inflates highly.
  16. I saw them in February around me and they sold out fast. No one restocked. Methinks the movie was a hit
  17. Nicely done. I can easily see some good inspiration here for a modular from me in the future. I can't wait to see it in the brick. I really like the side door and how it is recessed.
  18. I really like the Windows. I may have to try that out.
  19. ^ I'd agree with that statement too. But I still think GG is too tall.
  20. After looking at those again, definitely look like New molds. The shell does look way too high, which is movie accurate, but not good for lego form. The heads look more round vs Nickelodeon. Plus they do have those hold to attach things. Plus the shell had another joke to attach the sword holder. I actually like the sets for what they are, but don't like the minifigure. Which is funny since I liked the minifigure of the previous life, but didn't care for the sets. Lego knows how to get you huh. I will probably pass on these since minifigure are the main draw of licensed sets for me.
  21. So did they create a new mold for the movie turtles? It looks like it sits higher on them than the Nickelodeon figures do. It would be similar to how the movie is portrayed, but looks terrible in minifigure form. The printing looks good quality, but I don't love how those turtles look considering I grew up with the early 90s movies and 80s cartoon. I will never be able to change that. But I may pick up a set or two and sell off the figures..if anyone else wants them that is.
  22. I agree about Green Grocer being too tall/big compared to the others. Especially depending on which other modular it is next to. I modified my own version of it and I wanted to make it one stud shorter. I just didn't know how I'd accomplish it with the big white windows on the side. I figured by reducing the height, then the tan strip of plates wouldn't line up too well with the windows vs the rest of the building. But Market Street is obviously a fan creation. Plus it is the only "modular" that used normal faces instead of the classic smiley. So by that categorization I will not count it with the rest of the line .
  23. ^Ha! Gotta love regional variances in terms used. Pushchair sounds too exact. A stroller allows you to stroll those wheels around and around, as you push this chair... Anyway, I'm about done with my sand blue grocer. I finally received my BnP order. It was shipped out about a week later than what they told me on the phone, but I received it about 4 days sooner than the email predicted. So I guess that works. I only need a handful of small pieces to finish. Mostly 1x1 sand blue bricks and 1x1 light bley plates oddly enough. But the front facade is complete. I will have to get some pictures taken when I have some time. I'd love to show it off to everyone. But maybe I should wait until it is 100% complete. I like those modifications to the Market Street balcony. I don't know if I really need the doors to open anyway. I should just put windows there.
  24. I believe all Modulars use the classic smiley. Market Street didn't, but it isn't a true Modular. It was fan created. Another reason why it doesn't look as appealing as the rest of the line too. But the rest use the classic smiley.
  25. The clutch power tends to stay the same. I believe the discoloring is from a flame retardant they used to use in the plastics. So white are most noticeable, but most older colors will show signs of discoloration. I believe you can use oxyclean/peroxide mixture to make them white again. I haven't tried it myself, but there is a discussion ongoing in the general discussion forum that talks about it in depth. I have been meaning to attempt to clean my old parts like that, just haven't yet.
