The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Is it possible that someone retro-built it? With that said, I thought they were already going to be stickers. That seems to be the trend with most sets. I'd imagine a few to be printed, but the majority to be stickered. I guess it is possible they all are stickers, which is unfortunate since most people don't use them anyway. Maybe it is LEGO's way of saying, if you want to enjoy classic space again you need to start using your stickers... And that HISHE episode was awesome. Anything with Supes and Batman together in a diner is pure gold. I think my daughter watched that episode countless times this morning.- 2,626 replies

Again this shows how awesome the summer SW figures are. I don't love most of the sets, but I want most of the figures. Still won't be cheap considering how expensive minifigures go for these days.

Bricks and Pieces Interesting Pricing
TheLegoDr replied to JGW3000's topic in General LEGO Discussion
^I'm sure that is part of the reason. They would have better production with newer machines. Plus, they usually alter the molds when they revamp them. I would assume to strengthen the actual piece or to make it more 'in system.' Like those 1x5x4 bows we talked about in your Police Station thread. The new molds have a reinforced underside and the others didn't. Interesting how sometimes altering the mold may be better in some aspects, but sometimes it can take away other things (like placing bricks underneath, etc). -
It's not just Super Heroes. I've seen bootlegs of Ninjago and TMNT also. Probably whatever is a hot seller for LEGO, they want to capitalize. As far as Super Heroes goes, I want the Blackbird set, but I don't care for most of the figures. In all honesty, I almost just want Storm. Poor Cyclops, he never gets any love.. I originally wanted to get all of the SH sets this year, but then I started analyzing and just picking up the few figures I wanted instead. I've definitely saved money in doing so, but it does upset me that I mostly only buy LEGO for the figures now...

People probably haven't listed it for sale individually yet. And sometimes the inventory needs to be approved before it gets posted. I haven't looked specifically for this part though. But typically the CMF accessories are exclusive, at least for a while.

Well if you think about Warner Bros. being the production company, they are highly tied to DC universe, not Marvel. So that would explain why there was no Marvel presence in the movie. I'd assume Marvel probably would be left out of the next one too because of this reason. With that said, I do like your Batman trapped in a pink world idea, especially with those skirt slopes being taller. Maybe an exclusive Pink Batman figure.... it could be the start of the Rainbow Batman series. You have some good ideas about the female CMFs taking charge. They already have the perfect Benny face when the pink CMF lady takes off her helmet. She could shake her hair in slow motion (I think they did that with Wyldstyle already, but it could work again).

^Nicely done! I love classic castle. I've considered building up my old armies like you did here. 250 is very impressive. With the Crusaders I always felt the light gray looked better than the black helmets. I think Black Falcons and Black Knights both had black helmets, but I always kept the Lion knights with the light gray. I guess it kept them separated a bit more for my tastes. It's amazing how similar the new King's Castle is to the old one. Even the same name...TLG sure is creative..

I think you translated the official set to Modular nicely. With that said, I'm not a modern architecture fan, so the design of the building doesn't appeal to me. I don't think it blends with the rest of the line as well considering most are older architecture styles.

And I actually tried the different slope method I described earlier and it wasn't right like I thought. But I found a different combination that may work. But I hope the actual pieces get re-released.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I thought PR was 160 and HH was 180. -
Obviously you want to build this sooner than later. It makes me wonder if lego plans on releasing those white arches again. The dark blue had quite a hiatus, so it is possible. It seems like they were only available in really old sets, so it is odd they haven't come out since then. You could continue to bide your time? But then again, that wouldn't be any fun. I needed 4 for my skulls eye schooner revamp, but I think I am going to change to how the black seas barracuda did their stern. They used a 1x2x3 inverted slope with a 1x2 inverted slope above that and then a 1x3 inverted skills on top of that. It takes up about the same foot print, but a slightly different curve (not as rounded). I didn't mind how that gothic arch looks, but I think the full curved bows look better in the long run. But I think you could get away with those gothic arches.

I bought some of those knock offs. The quality is different from lego but the plastic didn't feel that cheap. The printing was hit or miss, but for the most part pretty decent. Not bad for the end price, especially for figures lego hasn't made (Odin, winter soldier). The venom was terrible though. As far as Robins go, I only really knew of Dick but that was because of Batman Forever.

Definitely feel for the accessories. A lot have a 2x2 tiles, but then that is when you feel for the head or second accessory of they have one. I didn't think the heads were as bad as I originally expected.

From what I could tell they have been changing the molds of those 1x5x4 bows, so that is probably why the ID number is changing. It's like the dark blue arch from Cafe Corner vs the Winter Village Market. They are different if you look at them. Sorry, I didn't notice that piece was 1x12. I thought it was 1x10 which would equal two bows. It probably will be too long for you.

Nicely done. I like the roof very much. Those colors work well together. Cheese slopes are awesome. The build itself looks quite good. I could see it fitting into a downtown or a medieval MOC layout. (although probably have to take down the ice cream sign).. How rare are those stickers that you used?

Looks good so far. I do like that white hull piece. I did plan on buying some extras to make my own white ship. I can't wait to see how yours progresses.

That stargate looks awesome! Granted, the whole build looks awesome too. I don't know much about CW stuff, but this is a nice set-up. You captured the action nicely. This would go over well at a LUG show.

Definitely classic castle and pirates. I had almost all of those sets from the crusaders up to dark forest. I really enjoyed blacktron II and m:tron, but my heart belongs to castle or pirates. Interesting that Harry potter and kingdoms is what brought me out of my box (my name for dark ages). Also interesting that most of my MOCs have been city related. Good thing I'm working on a castle and a pirate ship to make up for it.

ReBrick "Name the Ship" Contest - and the WINNER IS...
TheLegoDr replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
If you are looking a name similar to pay sets as sort of a nod of recognition, black barracuda works wonderfully. Plus since so many AFOLs love that ship, it'd be a great selection. From my understanding (since I don't have the set myself) the brickbeard bounty wasn't a favored ship among fans. -
I would prefer of the tags were continued for building achievements personally. I don't have all of them currently, but I didn't see the purpose of being recognized for buying a complete collection of sets. What's next, a tag for owning the entire city police line? (Keep in mind I do plan on owning all of them eventually, but I'd rather be recognized for building or participating in certain competitions) Modular builders are a rare breed, so some recognition would be good. But maybe in a different way. Present more MOCs and showcase your skills. There are quite a few great builders on here that dont seem to have any MOC expert tags. Maybe a special modular expert tag when the time arises.

SDCC 2012 Phoenix, Shazam & Venom for auction on eBay
TheLegoDr replied to Covi's topic in The Bazaar
Just to fyi, (and it says do on the package) it isn't Venom. It is black suit Spider-man. Good luck! -
Very industrial and modern. Would definitely fit into a more realistic downtown scene than the official modulars. You always do throw in a lot of detail in your builds. And adding interiors always helps. I do like the glass wall by the stairs. The bar is near perfect. The dance floor is a good touch, but it seems like more of a martini bar. So lax attitude, quiet environment. I don't know how often they'd have a dance floor. With that said, I'd almost suggest switching the dance floor to the top instead of the middle. Most people wanting a quieter environment would probably not have a quiet main level, loud middle level, and quiet top level. Just my two cents Keep up the great work. You are knocking them out of the park.

That's really clever and would fit in well with the fairground theme. My only qualm would be the lack of tiled baseplate underneath, considering you'd need a smooth surface for the official ride and I can't imagine they would set it up anywhere. I realize in LEGO form, you don't have the luxury of something folding up and be tiled to fit on the truck. Otherwise, it is looking great. I could see this as an add-on set. I may have to try my hand at this in the future. Sounds fun.
