  1. That does sound extremely low in price considering CC/GG cost about $800-1000 each! I'd say if you have the money and you can guarantee they are in great condition/complete, I'd jump on that.
  2. I didn't realize it was a different cape. So that certainly makes sense. Too bad couldn't have more of the Malgus capes with just the one hole. Hairpieces don't seem to interfere too much with those. I love a lot of the Chima torsos, but I don't love the Chi circle on them. That limits their use. I realize they are meant for a specific purpose in that theme, but I like using torsos out of themes. Either way, I like how these turned out.
  3. I would love more Hagrid sized figures. I think that would work great for Juggernaut and the like. Big Figs have their place, but so do the inbetween. Granted they still lack poseability.
  4. It also is comical to me about the classic smiley being involved with sinister individuals. Blacktron were supposed to be the villains, yet underneath their black visor was this little smiley face. It honestly wouldn't hurt my feelings if they never went away from the classic smiley. I realize they needed to change with the times and now there is a lot of variety in the facial expressions, but I loved the classic smiley. It does give people more freedom to play with these people how you want vs having a sad/excited/angry face 100% of the time. Try switching some of the CMF to classic smiley. It is quite humorous.
  5. That is really neat. Although I would immediately change most of the front bricks to the palisade bricks like on the official Town Hall. It looks too boring without the texture. I had some ideas for changing the Town Hall, but it was still going to be a town hall, just have a different layout. I think it was going to take 32x48 in size though and be not as tall as the original.
  6. Very dark indeed. The colors work really well. I could see some nice Guilds of Historica concepts out of this. The only thing I'd change (and it may be expensive) is to paint the official Elf hairpieces for female/male ears white and hairs the color you chose.
  7. This explains it a little bit. I have never heard of it before.
  8. I went to the Schaumberg, IL store recently, but ended up not buying a cup. Too many other distractions at the time and some of the main pieces I wanted were on backorder. Part of me still regrets not getting a cup though. But looking back, I probably would have purchased different pieces had I did it all over again. Odd... Looking at some of these hauls is making me regret it though.
  9. More expressive faces are always going to be more realistic considering no one is walking around with blank generic faces. However, I still prefer the classic smiley face. Call it nostalgia if you want, but it just exudes LEGO to me and I love it. But I love faces with expressions too, just not with Modulars.
  10. I thought that was the purpose of CMFs. Giving us a new unique figure with an accessory either new or rare. I don't see a figure coming without one. Medusa didn't, but she had a new hairpiece AND new color of tail. The jester is just a new print job.
  11. First off, amazing work. I love the idea of a school, even though the whole point of a winter village (in my eyes) is winter break, meaning away from school . But this really fits in well. I love the dark blue. The colors contrast well. I love the classrooms. The desks are really neat. I personally don't care for the roof. I think the snow should continue like previous versions and have them textured/raised compared to being the same tiles mixed in. It doesn't look as authentic to me. But that is just one man's opinion. I love the school bus too. I may have to borrow some ideas here. Our next LUG show is going to be a Winter Village themed one, so I may want to build some more buildings for that.
  12. I'm not well versed in comic book backstory, but I thought the Hulkbuster armor was designed for Tony Stark/Iron Man to stop Hulk when he becomes too powerful. As in, Hulk doesn't wear the armor. It seems like a lot of people think he does, unless I'm confusing something. With that said, I don't see any reason for it to be molded. I could easily see it being brick built mech style with Iron Man or Tony inside controlling it. Just the concept art alone showed how much bigger it was than Hulk, so having a molded figure be that size defeats the purpose of LEGO. Might as well go buy an action figure and place that next to your LEGO figures. Edit: Keeping this in mind for what may to come with Avengers 2 sets, I should probably quit looking for a current purple pants Hulk since I will end up getting another one in a set next year. No reason to spend $20+ methinks.
  13. So Silver Samurai + Wolverine + Transformer... interesting concept. LEGO loves mechs and with the introduction of the new ball joints, I'm surprised he wasn't made into a set.
  14. Funny. It shows arrogance isn't the best quality to have. Nice little story. Very entertaining.
  15. Which has been discussed before, but I think the primary concern for some people is that there aren't even more female minifigures involved. LEGO has created more lately, but there is still a discrepancy. I think that brings on the debate that LEGO isn't a unisex toy because not every child wants to play with only one gender figure. Obviously Friends has been successful and that was based on years of research, so that isn't to say it is wrong either.
  16. I think ultimately LEGO does not like re-sellers, only because it cuts into their business model (even a little). I don't think they would protect the exclusivity of something. It more has to do with what they have in the production channel at that time. That's why they said they won't re-do previous sets for new fans. It requires too much effort to actually bring something back as opposed to creating something new. Might as well go with new. As far as the zombie, I don't necessarily know why they chose to just recolor the zombie. I'd think since the print is the same, they put in more effort recoloring it than just reprinting it. But it is possible they did it for some variety (which is hard to believe since it is the same design, in a different color).
  17. I still have yet to see that movie. They haven't been as good as LOTR (in my opinion), so I haven't been inclined to see it yet. But I do love Middle Earth builds and this seems very fitting from what I can remembe from the trailer. Keep up the great work.
  18. That Roman army look expensive I love seeing these large armies. I should break mine out and take a picture, but it won't be nearly as impressive as a lot of these. As much as I want to army build, I don't know if I can justify buying multiples of the same figure anymore since there are so many more sets/figures I want.
  19. I watched Oblivion last week too. It was predictable. But a decent watch. Most recently, watched Catching Fire for a second time. Very entertaining and true to the book. I thought they did a good job with it. Although I'm not the biggest Hunger Games fan, I am more interested in it than I was prior.
  20. ^The problem with the "greatest hits" collection is the molds used for the figures. Earlier figures would be unable to be made again because they don't have the molds or production slots to run them again. I think that is why the previous "fan favorite" collection had only a select few figures from select series. I believe it all depends on availability. Now, the zombie wouldn't require new pieces like the Spartan would, but the printing still costs money/time, so maybe that is enough to not warrant it. That same Halloween set had two other figures that were identical to the previously released versions also, but the zombie was not. Very peculiar methinks.
  21. The fued is over as far as I'm aware. Target, Best Buy, Kmart, Wal-Mart, Amazon, Barnes & Noble all have it listed for sale. Methinks it isn't an exclusive everywhere... With that said, I don't know if I can justify $35 for the blu-ray and figure (I have no interest in 3D), vs $18 just for the blu-ray. That figure may go for a lot in the after market, but is he really worth $17 just for him?? All I really want is his head anyway. What are everyone's thoughts?
  22. ^I also found a MF brand new for $70 on clearance at Wal-Mart a few years ago. Then I found Slave I used from Craigslist for $35. But mine had the figures. But make sure you get the updated versions to match. There is a new Vader this summer, so keep that in mind.
  23. In response to Bjorn77 -- I don't have the Death Star. It does look like a much needed purchase for any SW fan. My problem is the minifigures. You are paying a boatload for them in the official release and I don't want any of them. I prefer the updated versions in sets now. Next someone will say, well just sell off the minifigures, and while that may work, everytime I've looked them up on bricklink, it isn't that much difference. Under $100, so the set itself is still expensive. I realize there are a lot of pieces involved too, but I would love to have a Death Star version that is more affordable for play.
  24. ^I believe you can use up to 640x800 in size for pictures? So you might want to use a larger picture. But you did the process correctly. So far, so good. I like how it is turning out. I am unfamiliar with the versions you are talking about for inspiration, but I like what you are coming up with. Is there a running $ total?
