  1. The nice thing is if you are playing with the figures, then they all don't have to be standing up all the time. I remember playing as a kid I'd just have them lay down until I got to that section of my play space. It wasn't that big of a deal. But otherwise, baseplates would be good. Or a whole bunch of the CMF baseplates for each figure instead of lots of larger studded plates.
  2. I bought the fierce flyer for that very purpose. I just wished the head looked a little better. Either way it has claws I think.
  3. I received my SDCC Jean Grey figure. I like her a lot more in person. I especially love her Phoenix face, which I don't recall being mentioned anywhere previously, but maybe I just missed it. I also received my shirtless Darth Maul and my Bruce Wayne. All ordered from different sellers on different days and all came at the same time, I found that odd.
  4. This is amazing. I didn't know what to expect I think. This is overwhelming. You have a lot of patience and ROOM to do this MOC. I don't think I'd be able to fit all of this in my LEGO room and I have a large area. Keep up the great work. I love the scale and how everything is brick-built.
  5. I think TLG is laughing all the way to the bank... As far as the sets, I'm glad they aren't making it girl-oriented only. There are a lot of useful pieces and buildings for any city. But sometimes there is too much pink/magenta for a lifelike city layout. But it is nice getting some pieces in new colors. My daughter and wife love them and we keep picking up sets to set back for our daughter. If she grows into them and likes them, she'll have lots of sets to play with (she's into Duplo and some of my minifigures now). Otherwise I'll have lots of discontinued sets that may or may not increase in value, but Friends fans will want the early sets if they missed the boat I'm sure. Either way, the line is great and it is amazing how sold out it can be around here and everywhere. The aisle rarely has anything left in it. Either the stores can't keep them in stock, or they never replenish the area.
  6. Someone guessed $60, but with that piece count and a new mold for an eagle, I would expect the price to be over $70 unfortunately. With what I see, I wouldn't want to ever spend that much so I'd wait for a huge sale (if it ever came), but the figures in the corner look nice. I guess I'll wait and see the final product, but with a clearer prelim picture it is a bit disappointing. They must be adding something to it. It looks much too small to have over 600 pieces.
  7. That skunk looks neat. I wonder what their face would look like underneath the mask. I can't wait to see other tribes in the future. The tribes that exist in sets now are neat, but I'm always open for more.
  8. I guess they are intended to build a galaxy for yourself as some people have hung them from their ceilings. That idea is neat, but I have no interest in doing that. I'm only a mild SW fan, so this theme idea is neat, but I agree about the price being a bit high for what you get. I have 6 orbs just sitting in my LEGO area taking up space. I don't want to throw them away, but I guess my daughter can bowl with them or something. The figures are neat, especially when they are new, but not all of them have been that good. The mini builds have been pretty decent, but it does feel like a slightly larger scaled Advent calendar. One good thing will be the new pilot with the printed legs so I don't have to buy the Hoth set to get Luke in that attire.
  9. That looks interesting. The build itself may not be amazing in the polybag, but I agree that it is good to have Robin get some love too. If I didn't already have a Robin figure, this would be a great way to get it. But I don't necessarily need him to do anything other than stand around. Thanks for trying to figure that out though. The build looks good!
  10. Actually Brickset isn't that much work. You go through and click a box. You don't have to enter any information. And once you get it started it is really easy to maintain. The hardest part for me is remembering my log-in information!
  11. And if you think about the current Modular line. They have some printing on the torsos, but normal smiley faces meaning by changing a haircut you can alter what gender a minifigure is. There really isn't a need for physical changes to the minifigure to make that happen. Plus, kids use their imagination.
  12. It will be hard to recapture what the original had. It kind of went downhill (like most sequels) after that. I agree the cast helped make it work. Also, the director was huge in forming it the right way. A different director stated he wanted it originally, but then turned it down for some other project and after it came out he said he would have made it a lot scarier and less family friendly...so who knows how this will be.
  13. Significantly better than the original idea. I know TLG had certain parameters they had to meet, but this looks much better. And the playability is still there, so kudos on that. I mostly just want the Pit for the Rancor and the keeper. But those individually go for as much as the whole set... Keep up the good work!
  14. Brickington - in your jousting topic you claimed to be the humble man and the cockiness led to the opponent's loss. I would recommend not making the same mistake.
  15. I think this was a great start with what you had at hand and in the time allotted, but since you are home now you can use all the pieces you would want to help make it more solid and proper looking. Keep up the great work and good luck with your project.
  16. I agree. Pintell/Rigetti or adding in some other humor (those two redcoats from the earlier movies that kept having to guard everything).. On Stranger Tides didn't have the same feel as the previous movies, but I still enjoyed it. And most of all, I'd love some new Pirate-themed sets.
  17. These are great pictures everyone! Since I just watched the Nolan trilogy, the Batman pictures are definitely hitting the spot.
  18. I heard that too. I can't wait to get multiples of the Revolutionary soldier. I would expect them to make him more plentiful with the new distribution set-up.
  19. I had a friend recently say she would rather watch Iron Giant than Iron Man... and now this MOC. Brilliantly done. I think you captured everything perfectly!
  20. I rewatched the Nolan trilogy this last weekend with some friends. I was already a fan, but this was my second viewing of TDKRises and I was much happier with it the second time. I had a lot of negative criticism the first time at the theater, but watching it in my own home, I was much more pleased. Anne Hathaway (who I would not have picked) kicked major tail in it and she won me over as "Catwoman." I can't wait until I can find the TDKRises set to have. It is sold out everywhere around here.
  21. I think Exclusive means Exclusive for a limited time. Eventually, other resellers (individuals or companies) will have multiple copies to sell to the public at usually the same price as TLG, but sometimes with sales. Wal-Mart/Target have/had other Modular buildings which were "exclusive" to TLG, so same goes for Amazon. I think they just have to wait a bit before they can actually sell them to give TLG first dibs since it is their product to begin with.
  22. I like the Gollum arm in which you can place it one way and the arm is straight ahead and the other way it looks like he is holding something out to you or holding a beverage or shaking a hand, etc... But of course, you'd need more figures with bony shoulders then which may not be too appealing, especially for some figures. But that is one way to make more poses I suppose. I hadn't noticed the Friends figures were all "flesh" toned, although they do have other skin colors as well, so that's a good start.
  23. It does make sense to have someone monitoring local sales and try to plug up any leaks within the company. I wouldn't even begin to know how to handle that phone call I guess. Especially disguising themselves as a potential buyer. Would they just say, how did you get this set, was it stolen, and yes I'd love to buy it from you... that just seems odd. Hopefully you won't get into trouble, otherwise you can blame your family
  24. I agree, the land being requested may be a bit too big in size. I haven't participated in Guilds yet, although I did sign up the very first day it was discussed on here. With little time to participate, I never claimed any land or did any of the builds. And I know there are other members or future members that may want some land in the near/distant future. So I'd hate to think one person claiming so much land and leaves very little for anyone else. I think the main problem is Avalonia has a large fellowship compared to some of the other guilds.
  25. Gravity is not always your friend when it comes to minifigures holding objects. I agree, a baseplate will conquer all (usually).
